Inexorably in Love - Chapter 30
Chapter 30: Everything Has Changed
“It turns out that Tang Rongling is gentle, considerate, caring, and indulgent toward the person that he loves. The only reason why he is cold to me is that he never loved me. Why did it take me such a long time to understand this simple idea?” Gu Qingxin thought.
“Lin Yin, follow me upstairs. I have something to tell you,” Gu Huaian said as his gaze landed on the woman who sat on the couch. He stood up, excused himself from Madam Meng’s presence, and left the living room.
“I’ll be right back,” Lin Yin said as she patted her daughter’s hand. She rose, nodded courteously at Madam Meng, and followed behind Gu Huaian.
“Look at us just sitting around here chatting away, I’m sure that the young people must feel bored. Since Qingxin rarely comes back, why don’t the four of you go shopping? It’s a common hobby among young people,” Zhou Manting suggested with a smile.
“Rongling, you’re the big brother here. Take Yunci and Qingxin out and buy them things they like. Zhenglin, if you don’t mind, you can follow them too,” Old Madam Gu spoke up.
“Of course, I don’t mind at all. It is my honor to be able to accompany these two ladies on a shopping trip,” Meng Zhenglin replied as his meaningful gaze fell on Gu Qingxin’s delicate face. He could not help but swallow as he felt an unbearable itch in his heart.
“I don’t wish to go,” Gu Qingxin refused the offer straightforwardly. Her face grew increasingly darker.
“Child, it will be my birthday in a few days. Can’t you let Rongling take you shopping and buy me a gift?” Old Madam Gu glared at Gu Qingxin.
“I can go shopping for your birthday gift on my own,” Gu Qingxin replied. She really could not bring herself to face Tang Rongling and Gu Yunci.
“You can only afford shabby items, do you think I’ll appreciate them?” Old Madam Gu’s face was filled with contempt.
At this point, Gu Qingxin could only respond, “In that case, I’ll let my mother know.”
“There’s no need to do that. Your father is discussing some very important matters with your mother, and they will not be done so soon. I’ll let her know when she comes back down.”
“Qingxin, let’s go. Rongling, go and get the car,” Gu Yunci said as she took the opportunity to approach Gu Qingxin and grab her arm.
They looked like a pair of affectionate sisters.
Old Madam Gu nodded in satisfaction as she watched Gu Yunci. She told Madam Meng, “Madam Meng, I hope you don’t mind.”
“No, not at all. Zhenglin, please take care of the two ladies,” Madam Meng replied with a laugh as she patted her son.
“Of course, mother,” Meng Zhenglin said as he stood up and continued to stare at Gu Qingxin’s face.
…
The four young people arrived in the courtyard and Tang Rongling had driven his white Land Rover over. He pulled the door to the front passenger seat open. Gu Yunci affectionately watched the man as he approached her, gave him her hand, and entered the car.
Meng Zhenglin opened the backdoor as well, gazed at Gu Qingxin, and said, “Miss Gu, please.”
Gu Qingxin stared blankly at the vehicle before her. She had sat in this car countless times. In the past, the front passenger seat was reserved exclusively for her.
Gu Qingxin was not a stubborn girl. On the contrary, she was very nice to the people around her. Tang Rongling was the only exception, she fell for him at first sight, the moment she set her eyes on this beautiful boy.
He was the only person that she behaved domineeringly and stubbornly toward.
“Rongling, I’m the only woman who can sit in your front passenger seat. If you dare let another woman take this seat, I’ll have grandfather give you a lecture.”
Ever since then, Gu Qingxin had been the only woman to sit in the front passenger seat of Tang Rongling’s car.
Now, however, everything has changed.
The scene that unfolded before her was too painful to behold. Gu Qingxin’s eyes watered as she lowered them pitifully and mechanically entered the back of the car.
