Inexorably in Love - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: Conditions
“You belong to the Gu family, so Meng Zhenglin won’t dare to seriously harm you. If you wish to save Aunt Lin, this is your only chance. Otherwise, Aunt Lin will definitely die,” Tang Rongling said coldly.
“No one cares about my mother’s life. Similarly, no one cares about whether I live or die,” Gu Qingxin thought.
“Rongling, I’m begging you, you cannot be so cruel. My mother has always treated you like a son. You must save her life!” Gu Qingxin grabbed his hand. She could no longer stop her tears from falling.
“Whether I save her life or not is entirely up to you. It’s best if you think about it and decide quickly. I heard that Aunt Lin doesn’t have much time left.” With that, Tang Rongling flung her hand away unfeelingly and took large strides out of the basement.
“Rongling, don’t go, please save my mother’s life. Please save her!” Gu Qingxin wanted to keep him there with her, but as her body was too weak, she fell onto the ground the moment she stood up.
The steel door was once again locked and Gu Qingxin sprawled across the floor in despair.
She knew what kind of consequences she would have to face if she agreed.
But did she have a choice?
“I need to save my mother’s life. If I don’t save my mother, she can only await death,” she thought.
…
After an unknown amount of time, the door to the basement was once again pushed open, and a tall figure stood before her.
Gu Qingxin thought that Tang Rongling had returned. She looked up only to see a rather unfamiliar face.
After she stared at his face for a few seconds, she realized that she recognized him.
It was Beiming Han’s subordinate, the man who captured her that morning.
Even though she had only caught a glance of him back then, she still remembered his face.
Gu Qingxin wanted to stand up, but she had no energy left in her at all. She could only stare pitifully at him.
“Miss Gu, if you want to save your mother, Master Beiming can help you get the best medical care for her treatment. He can also rescue you from this place,” he said.
Gu Qingxin blinked forcefully and gazed at him with tears in her eyes. At long last, a glimmer of hope rose in her heart.
“Master Beiming will pay for the entirety of your mother’s medical expenses, and he will hire the best neurosurgeons from around the world to operate on her. Master Beiming’s only conditions are that you must obey his instructions and fulfill all his needs until you have repaid the debt of your mother’s medical expenses in full,” he explained.
…
“I… I agree to his conditions.” Gu Qingxin’s voice was so soft it could barely be heard. She shut her eyes painfully as tears streamed down her face. In the end, she had agreed to sell herself.
If this was in exchange for her mother’s life, she was willing to do it. She was willing to do anything.
There were only two paths in front of her.
“At least there is a possibility of survival if I choose this path. If I agree to Tang Rongling’s condition and marry Meng Zhenglin, there’s no doubt that I’ll meet my death. But I cannot die. If I die, I’m afraid that my mother won’t be able to continue living either. And my mother cannot die, she’s the only family I have left in this world. The two of us must live on. I just want us to live on,” she thought.
Yeqi took out the contract he brought with him. He flipped it open and placed a pen in Gu Qingxin’s hand. She made use of the dim lighting to aid her vision and signed the contract with trembling fingers.
Her body had reached its limit. The moment the contract was signed, she could no longer bring herself to press on, and she lost all consciousness.
Yeqi reflexively reached out to catch her. Her soft body was pressed intimately against his, her unchanging expression finally cracked.
Another tall figure entered through the door. Beiming Han arrived before the two of them. Yeqi wanted to push Gu Qingxin away, but Beiming Han had already bent down to pick her up from the floor.
