Invincible Evocation - Chapter 43
Chapter 43: Displaying Each One’s Strengths
Lin Hui coolly waved a hand. The three men behind him took large strides to surround the two in front of him.
When the three men walked, they carried a stern air about them. They were clearly old hands who had fought many battles.
Rong Kaihua whispered to Rong Kaixuan, “Kaixuan, go inside. I’ll guard the door and try to stall them outside. Once Grandpa Cai or my father comes back, they’ll be able to save us.”
He was just consoling Rong Kaixuan with these words because even he knew that the two older men were combing the entire city for Rong Kaixuan. The chances of them coming back earlier than arranged were close to zero.
After the three of them advanced. One of them smiled and said, “The sword in this fellow’s hands is a pretty good Spirit Weapon. I’m taking it later.”
The lips of the other two twitched slightly, but they didn’t seem to have any objections to that.
After that, there was a slight noise from their hands as they all took out their own Spirit Weapons.
The one who spoke up first held a Spirit Sword in his hands as well. The other two had a Spirit Saber and a long staff.
The three of them gave a low shout and dashed forward together. They were fairly well-coordinated, so this was definitely not their first time fighting together.
Rong Kaihua’s expression didn’t change. He flicked his wrist. Countless tiny sparkles instantly started glowing on the long blade of his sword. This long sword in his hands seemed to have become a huge bird. This huge bird had taken flight and was covered in sharp tips that carried a tremendous amount of strength.
The expressions of the three attackers changed slightly. They didn’t dare delay their attack and immediately displayed their individual strengths. Each Spirit Weapon released a similarly powerful amount of strength to block Rong Kaihua’s attack as much as possible.
Lin Hui was watching this fight from the side and scoffed coldly. “Three Peak Stage Martial Artists against someone at the same stage but can’t take him down? Bunch of useless idiots.”
When the three of them heard what Lin Hui said, their expressions changed slightly. They suddenly let out a loud shout. The power of the weapons in their hands went up. They went from defending themselves to going on the offensive. Rong Kaihua almost couldn’t catch his breath from trying to defend himself.
Their initial plan was to tire Rong Kaihua out and then kill him off in one shot.
After Lin Hui mocked them, they unleashed what they were really capable of.
Since he was being surrounded and attacked by three men who were at the same stage as him, even Rong Kaihua was having great trouble fending them off.
Rong Kaixuan’s expression changed slightly. He clenched his teeth and gently tapped the air in front of him.
A spark immediately formed and grew into a Spirit Body Fighter at an unbelievable speed.
“Oh no, he’s evoking a Spirit body!”
“He’s a Spirit Gatherer…”
The three Peak Stage Martial Artist attackers felt their hearts tremble. Their attack slowed down quite a bit.
Spirit Gatherers were an even more terrifying existence compared to a Spirit Spellcaster. Moreover, a Spirit Gatherer was always the most treasured and esteemed person of their family. If a Spirit Gatherer was attacked by someone, his family would exact revenge a hundred times over.
Lin Hui’s expression finally changed. He looked in shock at Rong Kaixuan. There was a murderous look in his eyes.
“Since he’s a Spirit Gatherer, we must not let him get away. Otherwise, his family is going to come after us for sure.”
The three Peak Stage Martial Artists pulled themselves together. Their gazes were both fiery and dangerous.
The three of them were people who didn’t care for others’ lives. Once they figured out the pros and cons of the current situation, they knew exactly what they had to do.
One of them held a long staff and went over to the Spirit Body Fighter. He swung his long staff in various directions and engaged the Spirit Body Fighter.
Spirit Body Fighters were difficult to defeat or kill. They just kept coming back to attack, so they were a fairly tricky enemy to deal with. If it had to fight an opponent that was higher in level than itself, the Spirit Body Fighter wouldn’t have time to tackle others either.
Rong Kaixuan coldly laughed. His fingers tapped the air one after another and released two sparks.
After these two sparks also turned into Spirit Body Fighters, even the beautifully dressed Lin Hui had a change in his expression.
Rong Kaixuan gave orders. The two new Spirit Body Fighters headed straight for the martial artists attacking Rong Kaihua. All three martial Artists were Peak Stage Martial Artists and would not lose to Rong Kaihua even if they fought each other one on one. When they were met with these annoyingly difficult Spirit Body Fighters, they found it tough to keep fighting.
Even when their powerful Spirit Weapons struck the Spirit Body Fighters, all it did was to reduce some of its Spirit Power. They were not able to dispel them. This sort of attack on a normal human being would have caused them to die 10 times over from their injuries, but it wouldn’t affect a Spirit Body Fighter’s movement at all.
These Spirit Body Fighters continued to fight without ceasing so that their opponents never had the time to attack anyone else.
After they were engaged with a Spirit Body Fighter, they couldn’t get away for the time being.
Rong Kaihua moved and stood in front of Rong Kaixuan again. His angry eyes were wide as he glared straight at them and said in a loud voice, “If you leave now, you will still make it.”
Even though these men had made Rong Kaihua furious inside and he really wished he could slash them all to pieces, protecting was the most important thing to do now. As for revenge…
Once they got out of this situation and located Grandpa Cai and Rong Yihe, they could use their family’s influence to come after these men later.
Lin Hui burst out laughing. His pearly white teeth actually looked rather terrifying.
“Ha, you want us to leave now and then wait for you guys to come after our lives later?” He snorted loudly and said, “You can dream on.”
Rong Kaihua sighed quietly. Since Lin Hui had seen through his plans, Rong Kaihua wasn’t going to say anymore.
He looked up at the bright light over his head and whispered, “Kaixuan, this Protecting Light Curtain is not very strong. I’m going to give it my all later. If it’s enough to blast this curtain apart, you must run to the main street.” He paused and said, “This is Qiangan, so once you reach the main street, those men will not dare hurt you no matter how bold they are.”
Rong Kaixuan was shocked by this plan. “Eldest Brother, what about you?”
Rong Kaihua replied a little unhappily, “Of course I’m going with you. Do you think I like staying here?”
Rong Kaixuan breathed a sigh of relief and nodded gravely. He stole a glance at the scowling Lin Hui and whispered, “Eldest Brother, he’s all by himself now. Why don’t we work together to…”
“Stop it.” Rong Kaihua cut him off. “He’s a Spirit Spellcaster.” He smiled bitterly and said, “If a Spirit Spellcaster fights a Martial Artist of the same level, he will win.”
“Heh-heh, you know your stuff alright.” Lin Hui seemed to be getting impatient. “Since you’re not coming over, I’ll have to take some effort to send you on your way.”
He waved his hand. A black fog instantly appeared in front of him. The black fog gathered to become a black giant python almost immediately. It swayed from side to side and made a violent pounce toward Rong Kaihua and Rong Kaixuan.
Rong Kaihua gave a low shout and thrust the sword in his hand out, releasing bright and beautiful sparkles from the tip of the sword.
When True Qi was paired with a Spirit Weapon, it instantly unleashed a tremendous amount of power.
But this foggy giant python seemed rather unusual. It opened its large mouth. The fangs made from the fog were hard. It was as if they were real fangs. It bit down hard on the long sword.
Pak…
The fangs broke and turned into a wisp of black fog, but the black fog was instantly reabsorbed by the giant python to become a brand new fang.
However, the long sword in Rong Kaihua’s hand had an additional medium-sized black-colored mark on it.
This giant python’s erosive power was so strong that it was able to cause slight damage to Spirit Weapons.
This one small mark wasn’t much by itself, but an accumulation of hundreds of marks would eventually render the sword completely useless.
“Move aside,” Rong Kaihua quietly ordered as he pulled Rong Kaixuan aside. He took a deep breath. The glow on the sword immediately became bright. He swung his sword to cut through the air again and again. Each swing was strong and fierce, and there was a domineering spirit in the way he wielded his sword.
The black giant python had numerous wounds from the attack of the countless sparkles on the sword. Its wounds always healed after a while, but the speed of its healing had slowed down significantly.
Lin Hui watched from the side and commented, “Not a bad Martial Artist at all. He’s got great potential. If he can survive this, he’ll definitely reach the level of Martial Arts Teacher. It’s too bad he’s going to die today.” Lin Hui turned to glance at Rong Kaixuan and smiled maliciously as he pulled out two talismans with a flick of his wrist.
The two talismans flew in the air for a moment before instantly turning into two Spirit Body Fighters.
When Rong Kaixuan saw these talismans become Spirit Body Fighters, his heart sank.
He had already sold the three talismans that he had brought along. The only thing he had now was an entire box of blank talismans. What was he going to use against his opponent?
If he had known earlier that this would happen, he would have kept one piece to defend himself.
“Kill him,” Lin Hui coldly said.
The two Spirit Body Fighters immediately made their way toward Rong Kaixuan. They didn’t have any weapons on hand, but the main strength that Spirit Body Fighters had was the fact that they were difficult to deal with.
Rong Kaixuan moved his legs and instantly jumped up. The angle at which he dodged the Spirit Body Fighters was very strange. His body was bent and looked weird.
The effect of this movement was not bad. He easily avoided the attack from the two Spirit Body Fighters.
“What on earth?” Lin Hui looked in shock at Rong Kaixuan as if he never expected that this Spirit Gatherer would know how to do something like this.
After a few moments, he started to look a little anxious as well.
That Spirit Gatherer was as slippery as a fish. Even though the two Spirit Body Fighters chased him up and down, he never fell into a dangerous situation.
“Tsk.” Lin Hui loudly scoffed. He made money from robbing others. Even though he had the Protecting Light Curtain to cover him, after too much time had passed, someone might notice it.
He had to finish this job as quickly as possible.
With a low shout, Lin Hui waved his hands again.
Another cloud of black fog started gathering from nothing. His face was already extremely pale from gathering up this new black foggy giant python, but his gaze was still sharp. He looked like a gambler on a winning streak. There was a crazy look in his eyes.
“Go…”
The giant python left a long black trail in the air as it made its way toward Rong Kaixuan.
Rong Kaixuan was facing an attack by two Spirit Body Fighters. With this sudden new addition, he didn’t know what to do.
Even though he had the heart of a martial artist, his cultivation level was way too low. He was unable to use this technique to its true maximum.
Just when the black python and the Body Fighters were about to surround Rong Kaixuan, a ground-shaking roar suddenly rang in everyone’s ears.
