Invincible Evocation - Chapter 56
Chapter 56: Spells Display
The atmosphere within the hall of the library had instantly become very strange. Everyone’s eyes turned toward Rong Kaixuan at the same time.
Wang Xiaoxiao’s expression changed slightly as she said, “Senior Uncle Huang, I’m the one in charge of guiding Junior Kaixuan. His rash actions are partly my responsibility. I hope Senior Uncle Huang can forgive us.”
Rong Kaijie’s gaze grew cold. He didn’t expect Wang Xiaoxiao to take the initiative to defend Rong Kaixuan and even offer to bear part of the responsibility.
Huang Zixuan frowned slightly and said, “Xiao’er, I know you’re protecting him. If he continues to behave so arrogantly, he will eventually get himself into deep trouble.” He sighed and shook his head. “Rong Kaixuan, I thought that after these two months, you would have learned to humble yourself a little. I didn’t expect you to become worse. Now, you’re even hoping to read a Level 1 High Grade spell manual.” He scoffed and declared, “I have decided to take back your jade tag. From now on, I will not let you enter the Manuals Library to read any of the spells until you have reached Advanced Stage Spiritualist.”
A cold and malicious smile finally appeared on Rong Kaijie’s face. He was going to use any method he could to ensure Rong Kaixuan’s position in the clan remained as low as possible. Once the image of Rong Kaixuan as an arrogant and complacent person was deeply etched in the minds of powerful members of the clan, it would be hard to change their impression.
When that happened, even if this proud fellow ran into some accident and lost his life as a result, there wouldn’t be a lot of people paying too much attention to it.
Rong Kaixuan’s gaze did not change. He said in a low voice, “Senior Uncle Huang, you said before that if I can grasp all the Level 1 Low Grade spells, then no matter what level my Spirit Power cultivation is at, you would allow me to read Level 1 High Grade spell manuals.”
He didn’t say it very loudly, but after he said those words, everyone was so shocked that they started trembling. It was as if his words were as heavy as a mountain.
Huang Zixuan was surprised by them as well. He looked strangely at the young man who spoke in a very matter-of-fact tone. After a few moments, he suspiciously asked, “You… Have you already grasped all the Level 1 Low Grade spells?”
When he asked the question, his voice was filled with a sense of disbelief.
Rong Kaixuan bowed slightly and replied, “Senior Uncle may go ahead and test me on them.”
After these words were spoken, the hall fell completely silent. Nobody said a single word. Rong Kaijie’s expression was both horrified and surprised at the same time. There was a strange look of fear flickering in his eyes even as he tried his best to keep himself calm.
Huang Zixuan looked very seriously at Rong Kaixuan. After some time, he finally nodded. “Fine, let me see how much you’ve learned.”
He swung his arms and turned to walk out of the library.
Since Rong Kaixuan was going to be tested on spells, then, of course, he couldn’t do it within the Manuals Library.
Wang Xiaoxiao’s beautiful eyes fluttered as she asked in a low voice, “Junior Kaixuan, are you confident?”
Rong Kaixuan revealed a big smile on his face and replied, “Senior, don’t worry. Just watch.”
He took large strides and followed Huang Zixuan out.
Everyone in the hall looked at one another. Wang Xiaoxiao made a decision. She put the manual she was reading earlier back onto the table and quietly walked out of the library. Her action caused a chain reaction. None of the Spiritualists who were reading manuals earlier wanted to read those manuals anymore. They quickly followed behind her.
Even the librarians in the Manuals Library weren’t going to miss this big chance to watch a good show. Everyone who was able to get away from their duties also ran out of the library.
The news of what happened spread through the Hall of Spiritualists like wildfire. In no time, there were more than a hundred people gathered in the Test Hall, which was behind the Manuals Library.
Huang Zixuan didn’t walk very quickly. He seemed to be purposely dragging this out so that more people could hear about the news and hurry to the Test Hall before he finally stepped into it.
The Test Hall was a place where Spiritualists were tested on their spellcasting abilities. All the Spiritualists in the clan over the generations were tested there.
Rong Kaixuan looked at the huge crowd of both familiar and unfamiliar faces that had gathered and sighed. Man’s curiosity was indeed a powerful thing.
The number of Spiritualists in the Hall of Spiritualists added up to only around 30 people. Since different Spiritualists were of different standing in the hall, the number of additional servants and Martial Artists were 10 times the number of Spiritualists.
Since the Test Hall had gathered more than a hundred people in such a short time, this was certainly a sensational event.
Huang Zixuan turned and coldly said, “Rong Kaixuan, I will ask you one more time. Have you really grasped all the Level 1 Low Grade spells?”
Rong Kaixuan turned to Huang Zixuan and bowed deeply. “Senior Uncle, I have grasped everything that I have learned.”
“Wow…”
Everyone around the hall instantly exclaimed and gasped.
Everyone knew that if one spouted nonsense in such a place, then one would be completely embarrassed and never walk with his head high again.
It was really too difficult for any of them to believe that Rong Kaixuan could grasp all the Level 1 Low Grade skills when he had only cultivated Spirit Power for barely half a year.
Huang Zixuan’s eyes gleamed as he scanned the people watching like a bolt of electricity.
Everyone immediately held their breaths. Nobody made any more noise.
Huang Zixuan wasn’t an elder of the Rong clan, but his status as a Spiritualist Mentor carried enough authority. Within the Hall of Spiritualists, very few dared to challenge him or be rude to him.
After a few moments, Huang Zixuan looked away from the crowd and turned to Rong Kaixuan. “Rong Kaixuan, if you are really able to grasp all the Level 1 Low Grade spells, then, of course, I will keep my word.”
His tone of voice was much gentler than before. Compared to earlier, he was now being friendly and kind.
That was because his heart was wildly pounding. If this young man really had grasped all the Level 1 Low Grade spells, then he was a genius beyond Huang Zixuan’s imagination.
When faced with such a genius, no one would have been able to maintain a high and lofty attitude.
A happy smile flashed across Rong Kaixuan’s face as he replied, “Thank you, Senior Uncle.”
Huang Zixuan waved a hand and said, “No need to thank me. You’ll have to depend on yourself to get what you want.” After that, he said in a low voice, “Wood element Spirit Power Bounce.”
Rong Kaixuan nodded. He gently tapped his finger on the air in front of him. A spark shot out from his fingertip.
This spark continued to grow in size while flying and instantly became a ball. Many green lines were going around within the ball.
The ball of light flew at extremely high speed and was immediately sent toward a target board that was about 90 feet in front of Rong Kaixuan.
Pak!
The target board broke into pieces. The damaged parts still had fine green lines going around them.
Huang Zixuan’s expression moved a little as he asked in surprise, “Have you advanced to Middle Stage Spiritualist already?”
Rong Kaixuan nodded and replied, “That’s right. I have already reached Middle Stage Spiritualist.”
Even though everyone watching didn’t utter a single word, they couldn’t hide the look of shock in their eyes as they turned to stare at each other.
There was nothing magical about the wood element Spirit Power Bounce that Rong Kaixuan had released. Even the lowest servants within the Hall of Spiritualists had seen other Spiritualists cast such a spell.
The fact that Rong Kaixuan had gone from an Elementary Stage Spiritualist and just started his journey as a Spiritualist to a Middle Stage Spiritualist in less than half a year was truly astonishing.
Even the one nicknamed as the top Spiritualist among the younger generation of the Rong clan, Rong Kaijie, had taken an entire year to do that.
Huang Zixuan’s gaze flickered as he slowly nodded his head. Besides feeling shocked inside, he was now looking forward to what else Rong Kaixuan could do.
If he increased his level of Spirit Power by that much in less than half a year, perhaps he could really make miracles happen.
“Fire element Spirit Power Bounce.
Pak!
A red spark flew out and instantly hit the target board.
These target boards were specially made by the clan. They were used to test the strength of spells.
The moment the fire element Spirit Power Bounce hit the target board, the target board immediately fell apart. The pieces instantly started burning up.
All the Spiritualists who knew this element well had a change in their expression. They all felt that the energy within this fire element Spirit Power Bounce was extraordinary.
“Water element Spirit Power Bounce.”
“Earth element Spirit Power Bounce.”
“Gold element Spirit Power Bounce.”
As Huang Zixuan went through the various spells, Rong Kaixuan cast the spell he commanded.
Huang Zixuan started with the most basic Spirit Power Bounces of each element and slowly went up in difficulty level. No matter which of the five-element basic spells Huang Zixuan asked for, Rong Kaixuan was able to immediately cast them.
The way he was able to cast each spell so easily and naturally told everyone watching that he had grasped these spells well and was fairly familiar with casting them.
Huang Zixuan and the rest were more astonished as the spells were cast while Rong Kaijie couldn’t stop a murderous look from creeping into his eyes.
This young man had a terrifying gift for spellcasting. If he remained alive, Rong Kaijie knew that he would lose to him.
“Flowing Water Waves.”
A faint glow lit up an area around 32 feet from Rong Kaixuan. After that, a familiar series of ripples started to spread out from there. The entire space was filled with beautiful and dreamlike colors.
“Oooh…”
Huang Zixuan exhaled deeply and stopped calling out spells.
Rong Kaixuan was surprised. There were a few dozen five-element Level 1 Low Grade spells available in the Manuals Library, yet he had only displayed fewer than half of them. Why did Senior Uncle Huang suddenly stop calling out spells?
After a moment, Huang Zixuan asked, “Kaixuan, besides the five-element spells, do you know how to cast spells of other Spirit Power types?”
Rong Kaixuan’s face was a little red as he replied, “Senior Uncle, I’ve only learned the spells for the five elements. As for the other types…” He paused for a moment before saying, “I will work hard and study them. I hope Senior Uncle can guide me.”
Huang Zixuan’s face twitched slightly. He nodded his head slowly. “Just do what you can.”
He initially wanted to scold this boy to make sure that he didn’t grow complacent. If he ended up getting distracted by too many things, it wasn’t anything good.
When he thought about how Rong Kaixuan had cast all those spells earlier, the words got stuck in his throat. It was extremely uncomfortable, but he just couldn’t get any of them out.
Rong Kaixuan had managed to grasp the five-element Level 1 Low Grade spells very well in just two months. No matter what he chose to do in the future, Huang Zixuan didn’t have the right to interfere anymore.
Huang Zixuan let out a long sigh and said, “Kaixuan, since you have managed to do it, then…” He stretched a hand out and threw another jade tag into Rong Kaixuan’s hands. “You can read any manual you want on the first story of the Manuals Library now.”
Rong Kaixuan was overcome with joy. He rubbed the jade tag in his hands. He suddenly looked up and said, “But Senior Uncle, I haven’t finished displaying all the spells I know yet.”
Huang Zixuan felt his face twitch slightly several times. He scoffed quietly, dramatically waved his arms, and left.
Rong Kaixuan continued to humbly smile, but there was a little sly look that flashed across his eyes.
