Knight Collector - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
In order to see the happy ending, you had to get all 5 oaths from the main character.
Four of them you can pick, but the last one you go to get through an event.
You had to upgrade one of the ordinary knights through an awakening event.
The main character changes every time, so you wouldn’t know who it is.
However, if you provide enough support, you can make the knight you have chosen to be the main character.
But I can think about that later.
It was too early to worry about it, now the entrance ceremony is over.
First of all, I had to take the easiest main character first.
There was one character out of the four which I could get at the beginning since the rest were all stuck up.
“Long no see, Elista. How have you been?”
A knight with transparent silver hair and clear red eyes like cherries approached Elista.
There was only one knight that could talk so informally to the princess,
Ash Green.
He was an escort knight and one of the main characters.
He was the eldest son of a writer and of a humble and kind family.
Except for him, all the male knights there were either a commoner or had no last name.
Knights were the only means of advancement for men who had little skill in swordsmanship and a nice face.
“Well, I heard the news, but you actually got into school. Did you find a sponsor? If you not, I’ll be your sponsor.”
Elista replied with a generous smile.
It was the first smile she gave to someone who wasn’t Dien Liz.
Princess Elista, who had known Ash Green since childhood, always supported him in the early stages.
So just like Iriel Toz, I can’t get him right now.
In the beginning, Ash Green was a man who didn’t need a sponsor.
The only condition of being his sponsor is that you should like him.
It was difficult for me, who didn’t say anything to the public, to meet him on the first day.
“Sigh…”
It would be nice if he were like other knights and wanted money.
The thoughts of having to meet those vague conditions made me at loss.
Originally, knights were like fire moths who only looked at the money the sponsors have.
Other knights are interested in sponsors when they meet a certain condition, i.e they have money.
However, Ash Green was great and became an article because he wanted to, even though he had status and wealth.
So had was a character who had desires whether he would be sponsored or not.
If you threaten him, a bad ending would come. To become his sponsor, you had to build up a good relationship with him.
He’s a very tricky guy.
As expected…if I threaten him the way I normally do…it won’t work, right?
“Name? Age? Relationship with family? What about the three sizes?”
In the corner of the party, I heard Colette rushing to someone and asking questions.
I guess she already got someone.
I turned my head to see who it was, and I almost spat my wine out of my mouth.
It’s frustrating.
Colette is talking to one of the main characters.
“Please stay away.”
He had lovely azalea eyes like cotton candy with light pink hair.
To think that someone who is 191 cm tall would never look good with pink, but that guy with white skin and delicate features looks amazing with pink.
(t/n to the Americans who don’t use the metric system, he’s 6’2.)
His nickname could be Pink Cotton Candy or Baby Bird.
Before his enrollment, he was an escort knight who received a lot of attention due to his unusual appearance and outstanding abilities.
Thanks to that, more people wanted to call him Baby Bird.
In addition to that, Colette seems to have been fond of him, so this would make it even harder to get him.
I looked up at the chandelier light in vain at the unexpected events.
I was going to get all of them this time…but maybe I should try it next time…
Strangely, the chandelier light looked a bit blurry.
For some reason, tears seem to be covering my eyes.
No, I can’t give up like this.
I shook my head and took a sip from the cup in my hand.
It’s time to end this damn game.
Here, I can act freely, but only for three years.
No matter where I am or what I do, three years later, when the knight’s appointment ceremony is over, the ending credit pops up and I go back to the beginning.
Such things are no longer acceptable.
Now, I really want to get my old life back.
I sipped the glass and gave it to the waiter next to me and went to look for the last main character without hesitation.
The last one was not at the party.
They were in an empty garden by themself.
As expected, I left the party and found the familiar light brown back of the head that I had seen there several times.
“I found you.”
The only main character I could sponsor right from the beginning.
A timid, innocent man who came up from the countryside only to earn money for his grandmother’s medicine without knowing anything…
Arthur Beatz
“Oh sorry, am I not allowed here…?”
Arthur turned around as he noticed my presence.
Seeing the frightened green eyes, I couldn’t help but smile.
“No, I don’t mind being with someone.”
I stood next to Arthur.
“What are you doing alone here?”
I pretended to be friendly, but I already knew the reason why Arthur was alone here.
Arthur’s hometown was far from the capital.
Arthur lived alone with his grandmother. He had a poor but happy life.
But suddenly, his grandmother collapsed and his happy life ended.
He needed money to cure his grandmother’s illness.
So Arthur decided to go to the capital city alone and tried to get money really fast.
As he was looking for a job in the capital, he was lucky enough to get a letter of recommendation from the principal.
And Arthur, who was told he could make a lot of money if he joined the academy, got admitted to the school as a former knight.
However, Arthur, a recommended student who was selected according to the preference of the school president, was a mere eyesore to other knights who had come after fierce competition.
They ignored Arthur who didn’t even go through an entrance exam.
Arthur, who was never hated before, was unable to adjust to the dead grass environment.
In the meantime, he was scared because he suddenly fell into a party full of nobles.
Arthur knew he had to face sponsors and decided to stay away from the party and stay alone.
“I…I just…”
Arthur, who recognized me as a sponsor, hesitated to speak.
If it were Iriel, then he would’ve started the conversation skillfully before I could even talk.
It was too much for Arthur, who still had a faint perception that he was a knight.
“Are you here to look at the flowers?”
I brought up that topic instead of Arthur who didn’t know what to say.
“Ah, yes…”
He smiled shyly.
I laughed at his innocent smile.
In fact, Arthur Beatz’s oath was the easiest to get.
Every time I provided money for his grandmother’s medicine, he would come over quickly.
There was no need to make useless threats on him.
“I like the flowers since they resemble each other.”
“Yes? Ahaha no, that’s not right.”
Arthur laughed embarrassingly and covered his mouth.
To laugh so innocently and not forcefully over a horrible joke. I can’t say I hate it.
“Actually I’m not so used to party venues.”
Arthur said while scratching his red cheeks.
“If it were the way it was, I’d have to work hard to greet the sponsors…”
Arthur who sighed quietly seemed like he was full of anxiety as he was afraid he wouldn’t get a sponsor.
“I’m here too, right? Aren’t I a sponsor?”
Arthur blinked at me.
Those transparent turquoise eyes stared at me with doubt.
“You can greet me.”
“Ah.”
Arthur then pulled himself together.
“Hello, nice to meet you, I’m Arthur Beatz!”
Arthur said as he bowed 90 degrees.
“Hello, my name is Lauren Divian.”
I reached my hand out to Arthur and said.
Arthur embarrassingly stared at my hands and held my fingertips slightly.
He gently kissed me on the back of my hand.
There’s a long way to go if he’s still embarrassed by these little things.
“Good afternoon, Ms.Divian…why did Ms.Divian decide to come out?”
Arthur spoke after much consideration.
“Call me Lauren.”
I have a bad feeling whenever someone calls me Divian.
“Yes, Lauren.”
Arthur nodded and followed me.
“I just came out to get some air.”
“Oh, I see.”
Arthur replied awkwardly. Then there was silence.
Originally, knights were supposed to lead the conversation, but Arthur did not have that talent.
As the silence stayed longer, Arthur blinked anxiously.
He seemed to have noticed but didn’t know what to do.
I studied Arthur for a moment.
As the main character, Arthur quickly grows to a level similar to other knights in just a few months.
Although his nature does not go anywhere, it was only now that I could see such a clumsy figure.
“Do you need a sponsor?”
I broke the silence and asked directly.
Arthur by startled by the sudden question closed his mouth.
“Yes, I think I’ll be your sponsor..”
Anyways Arthur needed a sponsor, and I must sponsor Arthur. I don’t think we have to a round and a round.
“Why did you…”
As if he didn’t be leive it, he blurted out random words.
“We’re meant to be together, aren’t we?” There’s no particular article I like inside.”
“But is it okay…to decide this quickly?”
Arthur asked, timidly.
You’re too cautious when someone sponsors you.
Arthur needs to learn from Iriel and approach people confidently.
“Then how should I decide?”
“You should decide by how good their swordmanship is…”
“You’re wrong. It’s only up to the sponsors to decide who’s going to be the guardian. There’s no standard. Well, if you need a reason, I’ll just say you’re cute.”
“Yeah?”
At that answer, Arthur’s face gradually turned red like water painting on a wet canvas.
Arthur stared blankly and then asked,
“…Are you really okay with choosing me?”
“Didn’t I tell you?”
I stared at him in the eyes to direct my sincerity.
The shaky blue eyes quickly stopped looking into my eyes.
Still, after a few second has passed, Arthur nodded slowly with a determined expression.
“Thank you. I’ll do my best so you won’t regret choosing me.”
“Yes, yes, don’t work too hard though. I’ll be worried if you do.”
I said while recalling the past.
In the beginning, Arthur was unreasonable and collapsed while training.
“No, I’ll work hard to meet Lauren’s expectations!”
Arthur’s voice was full of motivation.
I’m not really expecting anything though.
“Let’s go back.”
“I extended my arm.”
“Yes!”
Arthur smiled broadly.
