Let’s Divorce! - Chapter 23
Chapter 23 Like a Mistress
Muhua fell silent. He didn’t want to answer that question. He didn’t want to bring up the past between him and Zhu Qian.
Xia Ran was very disappointed. He didn’t even give her an explanation.
Did Zhu Qian save his life?
“I’m tired. Send me back to rest.” Xia Ran closed her eyes, not wanting to say anything more.
They didn’t speak again for the rest of the journey. For the first time, there was silence.
When they arrived at the house, Xia Ran got out of the car without a word. She wanted to have some dignity, but she couldn’t help but stop. She turned around and looked at the man sitting in the car. Her tone aggrieved, she said, “Are you going straight to the hospital to accompany her tonight? Can’t you stay at home for the night?”
There was hurt and sadness in her eyes. And there was anticipation.
If she couldn’t make him stay no matter how hard she tried, then she wanted to cherish the time they could still spend together.
“Yes.” Mu Hua couldn’t bear to look into those expectant eyes.
“Can you come back and sleep with me before going to the hospital? I can’t sleep alone.” Xia Ran was already very humble, so her requests kept decreasing.
How could Mu Hua refuse? He wanted to accompany Xia Ran anyway.
It wasn’t very late yet, and Zhu Qian didn’t call to urge him, so he agreed and got out of the car to go home with Xia Ran.
Auntie He had already prepared the food and was waiting for Xia Ran to come back for dinner. Mu Hua hadn’t been home for the past few days and Xia Ran was usually the only one eating
“Miss Xia, Mr. Mu, you’re back!” Auntie He was first surprised to see Mu Hua and Xia Ran return together, but then she was happy for them.
Xia Ran looked very unhappy these days, probably because of Mu Hua. Now that the two of them had reconciled, Auntie He was naturally happy for them from the bottom of her heart.
Xia Ran forced a smile. “Yes, Auntie He. Go and rest. He and I will eat first. You can clean up tomorrow.”
“Alright. You guys can eat!” Auntie He thought that Xia Ran wanted space for the two of them, so she quickly agreed and went to rest.
Xia Ran and Mu Hua sat down and looked at the table full of dishes. They actually had no appetite.
After a few bites, Xia Ran felt like vomiting. She got up in a panic and went to the washroom.
When she came out of the bathroom, Mu Hua was waiting for her outside. He was very concerned. “What’s wrong? Is your stomach upset?”
“Yes, I haven’t eaten properly recently. I have not been in a good mood.” Xia Ran didn’t deny it, but she didn’t want to tell him about her pregnancy now.
If she couldn’t keep him in the end, what was the point of telling him that she had a child?
He and Zhu Qian would probably snatch the child away!
‘Why haven’t you been eating properly? Stomach problems are very painful,’ Mu Hua chided.
Xia Ran lowered her head. “I can’t eat when I’m alone.”
Now that Zhu Qian had appeared, she couldn’t eat or sleep in peace.
If this continued, the child in her womb would probably be malnourished too. Furthermore, she had checked and read that a mother’s mood could affect the development of the fetus. The child could sense if she was in a good mood or not.
She felt guilty towards the baby.
Mu Hua was speechless for a moment. He knew that Xia Ran was in a bad mood because of him and Zhu Qian, but he couldn’t solve this problem for the time being.
“Don’t worry too much. Be good. Eat and sleep well. Don’t make me worry, okay?” Mu Hua gently pulled Xia Ran into his arms.
This hug made Xia Ran’s nose sting and she couldn’t help but cry.
She couldn’t help but reach out and wrap her arms around his muscular waist. As long as she was in his arms, she felt extremely safe. It was as if this was where she belonged and her harbor.
She really couldn’t bear to give up the man she loved the most to another woman.
“You promised me that you wouldn’t contact Zhu Qian again before we divorced. But why do you have to accompany her now and not me?” Xia Ran asked in a choked voice. She really didn’t understand.
She was his wife, but she lived like a mistress and had to give up her time to Zhu Qian.
She wanted to go straight to Zhu Qian and clarify things, but when she thought of what he had said, she could only endure it.
Mu Hua sighed helplessly. “Ranran, when her eyes heal, everything will be back on track. I’ll do what I said I would do. This time is an exception.”
This exception was caused by Xia Ran herself. Xia Ran knew it very well. She just couldn’t stand him taking care of another woman, asking about her well-being, and even living together!
