- Chapter 19 - Levelling Up In An Exclusive Dungeon Chapter 19
Jinhyuk was persuaded by the secretary.
They both headed to the Titans’ defense line along with other hunters
At the sight of other hunters entering the scene, the Titans’ executives frowned.
The executives viewed these hunters who wanted to help as uninvited guests.
“Who told you to bring all these people?”
“It was the guild leader’s order.”
Upon hearing the secretary’s words, the executives looked blank.
They want to send away these other hunters, but they couldn’t do so because they thought that it was the guild leader’s orders.
Even the executives who hold a lot of power over the guild could not ignore Sangho’s, the guild’s face, and the famous S-rank hunter, orders.
Eventually, one of the executives reluctantly informed the other guild members.
“Psh, alright let them in.”
Thanks to the guild members who made way, the other hunters were able to enter.
Jinhyuk and the other hunters quickly went through the gap.
When the secretary followed and tried to go in, an executive stopped her to ask a question.
“It’s the guild leader’s orders, correct?”
“…Of course.”
The secretary pretended to be calm as she answered, but she had already written a whole apology letter to the executives in her head and expected a major salary cut.
Since she used the guild leader’s name in her lie, she might as well expect to eat only instant meals for at least three months.
“Then, excuse me.”
The secretary bowed her head at the executive and hurried inside.
Kang Jinhyuk and the other hunters she asked for help were waiting for her instructions.
The secretary immediately began dispatching the hunters to the right place.
Hunters with close-combat skills were placed to the front along with the tankers.
Meanwhile, hunters with wizard artillery were dispatched farther back.
Those with support skills were asked to strengthen the middle position.
All other hunters were positioned as requested, yet Kang Jinhyuk tried to head to the front lines and not in the middle where he was supposed to be.
The secretary saw him and tried to stop him.
“Wait. Are you really going to go to the fronts?”
“Why are you asking such an obvious question?”
The secretary barely held back from asking further.
He’s planning on rushing towards the monsters even though he’s a mere cleric?
The secretary contemplated whether to stop him or not, but she ended up sighing.
In this urgent situation, they can’t afford to waste more time.
“…Alright, do as you please. Instead, we’ll only reward you if you reach the quota on this counter.”
The secretary spoke in a cold tone as she handed over an item that looked like a watch.
“What’s this for?”
“It’s a tool that measures the magic power of monsters and accumulates it. That number is your score.”
For example, a goblin was equivalent to 1 point, while orcs were 3 points.
Catching 100 goblins and 3 orcs totals to 109 points.
This tool had only been developed recently. It’s being aimed to be used actively to prevent cheating.
“The average score of hunters in charge of the front line is currently 82 points. If you want to get a reward, you need to score more than that.”
“Aren’t you being too strict with me?”
“You’re here as an employee, not as a dealer.”
What she said made some sense.
Except for the fact that he’s a cleric, Jinhyuk is currently nothing more than a C-rank hunter.
She can’t promise such a hunter a very high salary.
“Don’t be too shocked with the results.”
When JInhyuk confidently took the counter from her hands, the secretary laughed internally.
No matter how fast he ran, a cleric is no match for a professional dealer.
The secretary didn’t understand why Sangho valued him highly.
“I look forward to your results.”
Jinhyuk put the counter in his pants pocket when the secretary left.
She smiled at him before she left, but Jinhyuk knew that she was being sarcastic.
Jinhyuk vowed to make her regret underestimating him.
“I didn’t want to use this though.”
What Jinhyuk took out of his inventory was a stamina enhancing potion.
The potion has a terrifying side effect that makes a person much more energized than usual.
Jinhyuk drank the brown-liquid potion at once.
It was an inevitable choice he had to make in order to face the army of monsters with his week-long exhausted body.
“Kya… This is too bitter for an unhealthy medicine.”
The taste was terrible, but its effect was certain.
As soon as the potion reached his stomach, his vision became much clearer and his whole body gained strength.
Jinhyuk began to pour out this energy from the front lines.
He swung his but vigorously towards an ogre that other hunters were facing.
His bat hit the ogre’s club, which broke into pieces with a loud sound on impact.
“Ou-oh?”
The ogre stared at his destroyed club with a foolish face.
It seems like it’s astonished that such a small human, who was not even taller than his waist, was able to break his club.
The hunters around Jinhyuk were just as shocked.
“What the? What’s that guy?”
“Is that even possible?”
Jinhyuk was able to show off his potential journey to being an A-rank hunter thanks to his training with Lucia.
In just a week, he managed to reach level 140.
Of course, he’s closer to B-rank now than A-rank. Just his high level won’t be enough to deal with the ogre.
However, Jinhyuk enjoys the effect of the [Divine Power – Level 3] with his attacks.
His physical ability had improved significantly thanks to the divine power that courses through his whole body.
Jinhyuk’s stat indicates that he’s using minimal MP, so it’s possible that his stats right now surpasses even those of A-rank hunters.
“It’s a good thing that I stock up on potions in advance.”
The association doesn’t sell a large amount of potions to one person in just one transaction in order to regulate the supply of potions.
However, the black market organization that Jinhyuk is dealing with was different.
It’s possible to purchase more than a hundred potions by paying some additional fees.
Currently, Jinhyuk has 1,529 mana potions.
His mana will never run out as long as his stomach can take the medicine.
“How long are you gonna stare at that broken thing?!”
Jinhyuk sprang up from the ground and rose above the ogre’s head in just one jump.
That’s the only time the ogre took its eyes off its broken club and tried to avoid the attack
However, it was already too late.
The bat wielded by Kang Jinhyuk shattered the ogre’s head easily as if it’s popping a balloon.
The ogre quickly lost its head, and its huge body collapsed on the ground, causing think soil dust to rise.
“Wooh.”
Jinhyuk landed on the ogre’s body. He took out the counter and checked his score.
“This ogre is 12 points? Then I only need to catch 6 more.”
Leaving the astonished hunters behind, Jinhyuk moved towards his next target.
“Well, if I want to justify having a lot of money by hunting, then it’s good that I’m displaying my skills in front of everyone.”
Jinhyuk doesn’t trust the Titans, and he knows that they don’t trust him either.
Even if the counter was working properly, he’s sure that he’ll receive doubts later on.
“Let’s see… I think it’s a bit messy over there.”
As he searched for crowded areas, he naturally entered scenes of most crises.
Powerful monsters were overpowering a number of hunters.
That was Jinhyuk’s next prey.
Jinhyuk jumped up and down as he gulped another potion.
No matter how solid a monster’s skull was, they’re no match for Jinhyuk’s bat.
At some point, the counter’s score already exceeds 82 points.
“Killing monsters that even A-rank hunters struggle with in just one hit…”
“What kind of person is that guy?”
The hunters began paying attention to Jinhyuk, who hit monsters one after another.
They admired Jinhyuk’s skills but questioned him at the same time.
“I can’t believe I’ve never heard of such a skilled hunter.”
“It’s my first time seeing him too.”
“I don’t think he’s on the list of A-rank hunters.”
Hunters always stood out as long as they continue to live as hunters.
However, little information about Jinhyuk was popularly known.
After all, he was just a forgettable D-rank hunter just a few weeks ago.
All they know about him was that he recently helped the Titans as a cleric.
But even that wasn’t popularly known because the Titans executives tried to suppress the information.
Only those who participated in the previous hunt knew Jinhyuk’s name and face.
One person was watching the scene from afar. It was none other than the guy that Jinhyuk beat up, Ahn Doyoon
“When the hell did that kid get this good…”
Ahn Doyoon, who was watching Jinhyuk from afar, stroked his chin.
Watching Jinhyuk jump around reminds him of the pain that the kid inflicted on him.
“Why does that kid keep showing up in front of me?!”
Ahn Doyoon didn’t know why or how Jinhyuk got so strong in such a short period of time.
His existence became even more annoying for Ahn Doyoon.
“I risk my life every day in battle, but my level barely goes up. What the hell does this kid do…?!”
Jinhyuk couldn’t have visited hunting grounds where monsters appear frequently.
Ahn Doyoon knew that the kid doesn’t go out of his house much, let alone hunt outside.
The truth was, Ahn Doyoon was secretly investigating Kang Jinhyuk and plotting his revenge on the kid the humiliated him.
“Fxxk this…!”
The moment that he thought ‘what if he’s just much more talented than me?’, Ahn Doyoon choked up and felt emotional.
He doesn’t want to be pushed over by this guy.
He felt like crazy when he saw the other hunters admire Jinhyuk’s performance.
“It’s because of this kid that I’m no longer the deputy guild leader.”
Doyoon can’t stand it that Jinhyuk is doing so well.
He fell down from such a high position, and he has to crawl his way back up.
Now is the only chance to create that opportunity.
Ahn Doyoon thought so and let go of any reason left in him.
It was too late when a nearby colleague noticed Ahn Doyoon’s unexpected incident.
Ahn Doyoon hardened his resolve and raced towards the field with a sword in both hands.
The only thing in his eyes was the back of Kang Jinhyuk’s head.
Jinyuk was at his most defenseless moment because it’s right after he caught a monster
Ahn Doyoon aimed for a perfect timing.
The fact that he even thought of going out here even though there were so many hunters present meant that Ahn Doyoon was fully resolved.
He was abandoned by the executives, treated as a nuisance by the guild leader himself.
Ahn Doyoon blamed Jinyhuk for everything, and he channeled his anger to his sword as he swung it towards him.
….
….
….
And when he saw his sword break in half, all of his anger turned into regret.
