Livestreaming the Hunt - Chapter 27
Chapter 27: Perhaps, Such Is Growth
It was also because he understood how to develop a hunting dog that Wang Kui realized how difficult it was to train such a top-notch hunting dog.
Bloodline, experience, environment—none of that could be missed.
Of course, the function of an expert-tier class card was far beyond that because Wang Kui now had various corresponding training for many attributes that the wolfdog had not shown.
That included its hearing, movements, subservience, and goal-oriented focus.
“That Lame Cui has really handed me an uncut jade for free!”
Wang Kui chuckled deviously.
With 300 Hunting Points left, he went for a five-roll at the lottery.
In the dimly lit timber room, the massive classic Russian roulette board moved slowly, and it spun quickly as the lights flickered.
That was when a silver revolver with a large barrel appeared in the air, and it was aimed at the upper-right center of the roulette.
Wang Kui just had to think it to make it fire!
Bang-Bang-Bang-Bang-Bang!
He fired five shots all at once, suddenly finding the lottery quite interesting.
As children, boys loved guns, and girls loved dolls—but after they had grown up, boys come to love dolls, and girls come to love guns.
Perhaps, such is growth…
After the bullets had been emptied, the roulette stopped spinning, with five bullet holes left on it.
[Congratulations, you have obtained: White Class Card: Armed Police Lv2, Hunting Blade: zero tolerance, Ventilated Wicking Military Pants, Canine Combat Vest, Portable Kettle]
It was not unacceptable since not all of it were duds.
[White Class Card: Armed Police]
[Class authority: Inactive professional certification from the Huaxia People’s Armed Police Force]
[Class ability: Mastery of armed police’s CQC and assassination tactics, Huaxia-style weaponry structure and firing application, handling of emergency incidents, urban warfare, and defensive battles.]
Incredible!
Wang Kui could not help exclaiming in awe at the might of the System. It had even arranged a new history for him, using the time in his life which he had spent frivolously at the university-level to piece together two years of military service?!
However, much of his days as a research student had definitely been wasted. Now that he thought about it, it really would have been better if he had joined the military service!
Moreover, the armed police class card made up for Wang Kui’s inexperience in CQC.
While the Armed Police’s CQC was tailored against human combatants, it offered him fine combat tactics and muscle memories so that he would gain double effectiveness if he trained in other fighting styles.
That’s right.
Even though he had the System, Wang Kui was prepared to learn many things himself. The class card might be incredible, but it was also fully compatible with the future development he had in mind.
After equipping the class card, his stats changed entirely.

[Items: Legacy Item—Teeth Necklace]
It was the wee hours of the morning by the time Wang Kui had settled everything.
That was when he remembered about his smartphone and the dozen or so unread WeChat messages.
Aside from two messages from his mother asking after him, it was his supervisor’s notice of dismissal, over a dozen ‘???’ from Zhao Zhongheng, and two missed calls.
“I’ve been outstation over the past two days. I’ll give you the details when I get back!”
After replying to Zhao Zhongheng and his mother’s messages, Wang Kui settled into his warm bed, feeling a little tipsy, and slept soundly.
Early the next morning, he was woken by Mister Li for breakfast.
Most farmers woke up early since they needed to tend to their farms.
Wang Kui washed up comfortably and finally washed away the smell of the mountains.
He looked outside the window at the mountains that stretched on as he cleaned his face, and he could not help feeling emotional that he had actually lived there for around two days before last night.
As he waited for Officer Zhao, he turned on his livestream again.
With everyone anxious to see him adopt the wolfdog, many viewers entered the moment he went live, and there were soon dozens of them.
[Good morning, Old Kui!]
[That village is beautiful!]
[When will you get the dog?]
Officer Zhao had already driven up to the village junction as Wang Kui was talking to his viewers.
“Slept well?”
Officer Zhao asked courteously after he had gotten into the car.
“Not bad.”
However, Wang Kui was concerned about the wolfdog, and he asked, “Did the dog… trouble you, Officer Zhao?”
“Nope! It was much tamer after you scared it a little, and it’s now staying at the police dog kennels!”
Still, Officer Zhao’s smile faded at that. “That being said, you were right, Wang Kui. Since the other wolfdog was killed and we only got a live specimen now, even the trainers at the kennel were saying how difficult it would be to train a perfectly professional dog with such bone structure and muscles!”
“That was why early this morning, I had the trainers take samples of its saliva, gastric fluids, and its wounds for crosschecking at city forensics. We will have a result in around two hours, and you can claim it if it is confirmed to be unrelated to the young boy’s death!”
“The trainers were repeatedly insisting that the wolfdog is highly ferocious, but I could tell that they had taken a liking to it and were reluctant to let it go. That’s why I told them that you were a hunter, and they finally gave up at that. Haha!”
Wang Kui breathed a sigh of relief at those words.
He trusted in his own judgment as a hunter that the wolfdog was innocent, and anything was acceptable as long as the wolfdog was let go!
[Trying to steal our dog?]
[No way! The pup belongs to Old Kui—they are now best butt-ies!]
[Wolfdog: I touched Old Kui in the butt, so I have to take responsibility! (shy)]
***
Wang Kui was hovering between tears and laughter when he saw that the butt-poking joke had yet to die.
Meanwhile, they had arrived at the Fangshan County Police Station.
The station did allow internet outlets, but only under the supervision of the station’s own media agents. Still, they proved welcoming toward someone like Wang Kui, who carried a positive vibe.
That was especially the case after they learned that he had ventured deep into the mountains alone to hunt a wolfdog!
Officer Zhao led him to sign a document and recorded a statement about his analysis of the wolfdog and Lame Cui before finally bringing out 2,000 dollars. “Here, this is the two thousand dollar bounty. It’s what you deserve. Do count it!”
“I’ll pass. Please give it to Mister Li and his family!”
Wang Kui refused. It was not as if he abhorred money, but when it came down to it, his livestream of hunting the wolfdog could actually be considered an exploitation of another’s misfortune.
He hence stated that opinion earnestly.
“That is why I would be ashamed to take the bounty, Officer Zhao. I also intend to donate a part of my income gained after each livestreamed hunt to the WWF since that would at least clear my conscience!”
At his words, Officer Zhao and the other police around him had a higher opinion of him.
If they were merely respectful toward the young man’s competence yesterday, they now completely respected his perspectives and him as a person!
The kid had a clear sense of what was right or wrong, and was born with the makings of a policeman!
