Livestreaming the Hunt - Chapter 31
Chapter 31: Matryoshka Doll
Zhang Yuning then noticed that the owner of the video had tagged someone named Old Kui Wildlands.
She clicked on it to find that it was a new account with only one video.
It was Wang Kui himself.
“Hello, everyone. I’m Wang Kui, the man himself from that dog beating video. Since many are not aware of the situation and some misunderstandings had occurred which bothered my family and myself, I need to clarify things here…”
The content of the video which Wang Kui had recorded at the airport lounge was exactly the same as what the policeman named Zhao Ze had said.
It had been three years since Zhang Yuning had seen Wang Kui, and the man himself never took many selfies on WeChat.
Since the footage of the dog-fighting incident had been captured with a super-wide-angle lens, she had not really taken notice of Wang Kui’s looks, and she could not help but space out a little now that she had seen him in person in his video.
He had truly changed…
A person’s job really gave them different auras, and thanks to the double buff of the Hunter Card and the Armed Police Card, there was now an irrepressible sharpness in his eyes. Moreover, his expression and tone now carried courage and uprightness, and his overflowing hormones meant that he was brimming with masculinity.
Turning on her WeChat and staring at the two messages she had sent to Wang Kui, Zhang Yuning found herself very laughable.
Though she had been under the impression that Wang Kui’s non-response had been out of embarrassment, it appeared now that she should be the one who should be feeling embarrassed!
In fact, if she had been in his boots, she would have long since blacklisted the other person if such a misunderstanding had occurred.
Should… Should I apologize?
I’ll do it!
[I’m sorry, Wang Kui. I saw the video where you clarified yourself, and I shouldn’t have said those things to you…]
After she had sent the message, she quickly locked her screen and slid her phone back into her pocket, too embarrassed to look.
However, she soon took it out again, unlocking it and tapping into her chat with Wang Kui.
There were no new notifications. Only her own messages were in the chatbox.
She became a little dispirited just then.
Was he ignoring her because he was angry?

“Achoo!”
Wang Kui rubbed his nose on the plane. He had slept well!
Public transport up in the northeastern region was terrible.
To catch the night flight back to Shenyang, he had had to take a transit flight through Nanjing, and the delay had cost him over five hours.
It was past seven in the evening when he arrived at Tao Xian Airport in Shenyang.
Since he did not have any luggage aside from a backpack, he just had to wait for Big Butt, who was still in transit.
Zhao Zhongheng had told him that he would come to get him and should be arriving around this time. Turning his phone’s network mode on again, his phone started jingling repetitively as he received a large pile of messages.
He skimmed through it.
Huh? Had his video taken effect now?
Turning on TikTok, he soon found that the owner of the original TikTok video had made a clarification, and there many verified accounts as well as his fans from Tigerfish who had stood up for him at the comments beneath the original video.
His own clarification video also had a list of comments underneath.
[Old Kui, we’ll support you forever!]
[A fan of Big Butt, reporting in!]
[You’re so handsome, I love you so much!]
[A streamer with positive vibes. Liked!]
[I’m dying here. I really want to ask the people who were spitting at Old Kui’s face in the morning whether their cheeks hurt…]
Sorry for the trouble…
As he looked through the supporting comments and the video where Officer Zhao had personally stood up for him, Wang Kui felt warm and fuzzy, and hence, he thanked both Zhao Ze as well as his admin group.
[CE: You have to thank Lady Ding here. She was so angry that she commented personally on your video and your fans, even going as far as to spend over ten thousand TikTok promotion points!]
[Zaun Gotta Run: Buzz off!]
No wonder things had turned around so quickly—money talks.
It was only then that Wang Kui noticed that the admins in his WeChat group had added him as well.
After accepting all requests, he learned that Zaun Gotta Run was Ding Yiyi. She turned out to be younger than Yang Ce and was still a university student.
Her social feed was also filled with headless photos of her wearing a highschool-girl uniform, never once exposing her face.
Moreover, judging from their interaction, she had been acquainted with Yang Ce on Tigerfish before this. It might even be likely that Yang Ce had invited her to his stream, which had led to her generous gifting the other day.
Truly, rich kids only ever played with other rich kids.
[CE: Old Kui, I think we should build a fan community after this incident. A lot of things can happen on the internet, and it would not do if you worked without a fan group!]
Just as he received that message, Big Butt was finally wheeled out from the luggage conveyor belt.
It appeared a little bored from being kept in a dark storage area for so long. It lifted its head once it smelled Wang Kui and poked out its tongue to lick its lower jaw, becoming spirited at once.
“Today was such a mess no thanks to you!”
Despite those words, Wang Kui tenderly knocked on the dog cage before sending a reply on WeChat: [Alright. Wolfdog Company is hence founded!]
While the ‘Hunter’ fan badge from before was cool, it was rather formal—Wolfdog Company sounded more carefree in contrast.
Also, since Big Butt was so popular with his viewers, he was sure everyone would like him as a fan badge.
[Zaun Gotta Run: Yip, yip, I’ll be a puppy!]
[CE: Go be dog poo instead!]
[Tier Eight Hurricane: Long live Wolfdog Company! Our motto shall be Hunt, Survive, and Poke the Butt!]

Wang Kui could not help but shoot Big Butt a glare when he saw the word ‘butt’.
Outside the exit for arrivals, a group of people was flocking in front of the safety rail, waiting for some of the people who were disembarking recent flights.
However, once a man with an imposing gait, wearing a yellow jacket stepped out, pulling along a cage that carried a huge wolfdog that appeared to weigh up to sixty catties, everyone’s eyes were drawn to him.
“Bro! I’ve been waiting for so long!”
Amongst the crowd, a lanky youth in his mid-twenties with clean white skin and dressed in a white T-shirt squeezed his way out.
It was indeed Zhao Zhongheng, Wang Kui’s friend and colleague.
“So, this is the dog?”
“Yeah!”
Wang Kui was going to let Zhao Zhongheng greet Big Butt, only for him to reach a hand toward the dog’s cage before he could say a word.
“Don’t touch it! I’ve only just gotten it for less than a day!”
“Tsk! The video already showed how much you beat it up, why wait? Silly dog, bite me if you’ve got the balls, kiddo!”
Zhao Zhongheng had a look of scorn on his face as he directly stretched his fingertip between the steel bars of the cage.
“Grr… chomp!”
Big Butt, however, absolutely could not stand him. Upon seeing a little meaty worm hooking at it, it promptly rose and bit at it.
“Ah!!!”
Zhao Zhongheng’s eyes bulged widely and he promptly pulled his hand out, both his feet dashing rapidly to move three meters away while his heart pounded. “It… It really tried to bite me!”
“I told you not to touch it!”
Wang Kui gave him a ‘you-deserve-it’ look. “Where did you park your car?”
“B-B zone…. Y-You! Stay away from me…”
Zhao Zhongheng was utterly scared after Big Butt’s snap, his face now drained of all color from the fright. In fact, he did not even dare to walk with Wang Kui now.
“Watch yourself! Look how scared my friend is!”
Wang Kui gave the cage a kick, and Big Butt was immediately intimidated.
Upon arrival at the car, Zhao Zhongheng had intended to put Big Butt in the trunk, but it turned out that his old Lavida was filled to the brim with various stuff—the big cage simply could not fit.
It was only after Wang Kui’s repeated assurance that Big Butt would not bark that it was allowed in the backseat.
Be that as it may, Zhou Zhongheng was still on edge even as he drove, and he could not help pulling his driver’s seat so close to his steering wheel that it was no different from a torture chair. He would shudder whenever Big Butt licked its tongue in the back, and he was soon dripping with sweat.
“You don’t need to be that scared. I’m here, and there’s a cage. Don’t worry…”
Wang Kui felt sympathy for his friend.
At the moment, it seemed that after Wang Kui had tamed Big Butt… Big Butt had tamed Zhao Zhongheng?!
Is this situation, was it not like Matryoshka Dolls?
“I-I know! I… I’m not scared!”
Zhao Zhongheng wiped the sweat off his head, gulped, and took a deep breath. “B-By the way, what was that you said you wanted to discuss with me when you return, Old Kui?”
