Chapter 35: You Have Obtained The Demon Buddha Armor!
[Congratulations, host! Your sign-in is successful. You have obtained the Demon Buddha Armor technique.]
A cold robotic voice rang beside Su Qin’s ear.
‘The Demon Buddha Armor technique?’ Su Qin thought as he nodded his head slightly.
It was clear that what he obtained was a foundational divine art of the Demon Buddha.
‘It’s almost time to head back.’
Su Qin did not immediately try to learn the technique. Since such a big commotion happened at the Rear Mountain, abbot Hui Wen and the temple court heads should have been heading over.
Su Qin quickly fled the Buddhist Mountain. First rank
“Oh!”
Su Qin turned to look at the five Divine Master Abbots who were seated cross-legged in front of the Buddhist Mountain. He softly said, “The seal imprisoning the Demon Buddha is fortified. You no longer need to stand guard here.”
The five Divine Master Abbots used a secret technique to enter a false-death state. Even though the secret technique could have extended their lifespan, the five Divine Master Abbots would have been under constant torture.
Death might have been preferable to life in that circumstance.
As he thought about that, Su Qin had an idea. He moved a finger and five beams of Internal Force moved through the air to land on the bodies of the five Divine Master Abbots. Those five beams of Internal Force should be enough to wake them.
After he did that, Su Qin quickly left the Rear Mountain area.
When he was out of the Rear Mountain area, Su Qin discovered that abbot Hui Wen and the other temple court heads were standing guard there. Su Qin had no intention of alerting them about what happened so he headed straight back to the MIscellaneous Court.
‘The Demon Buddha Armor technique.’
Su Qin sat cross-legged on the ground and started to accept the system’s input of all the knowledge regarding the Demon Buddha Armor technique.
Whoosh!
The giant gold Buddha appeared in Su Qin’s mind. That gold Buddha was half-gold and half-black. The golden half looked strict and solemn while the black half of the Buddha appeared full of evil intent. Those two contrasting energies were combined in a single gold figure. A complete amalgamation and fusion of the two sides.
‘Is this?’
Su Qin’s eyes went wide. Initially, Su Qin thought that the Demon Buddha abandoned the Buddhist teachings and entered the Evil Path. However, he then saw that the Demon Buddha cultivated in both Buddhist teachings and that of the Evil Path.
Once mastery of the Demon Buddha Armor technique was achieved, one could easily switch between the Internal Force of the Evil sect and the Internal Force of the Buddhist sect.
The most taboo thing one could have done in martial arts training was mixing styles or learning impure techniques. However, the Demon Buddha completely disregarded the fact and went ahead to combine two extreme opposite energies into one body.
‘The Demon Buddha…’
Su Qin was speechless. Even he had to acknowledge that the Demon Buddha was a rare genius that only appeared once in several lifetimes. It was a shame that no matter how gifted the Demon Buddha was, he was never able to beat the Buddha Palm technique.
Once Su Qin understood the terrifying aspects of the Demon Buddha Armor technique, he decided not to immediately train in it. Once he started to train in the Demon Buddha Armor technique, the Internal Force within his body would have been transformed into evil energy. If it were to have happened with the power he had at that point, the evil energy would have flooded the Shaolin temple and startle everyone in it.
Su Qin decided to carve out a specific time where he would find a remote area to slowly gain a deeper understanding of the Demon Armor technique. He was not in any rush because after all, the technique was already in his mind and it was not going anywhere.
‘Apart from the Demon Buddha Armor, my body transformed this time by drawing on the power of the seal…”
Su Qin was extremely satisfied when he sensed the state of his physical body. When Su Qin reached the peak of his physical body through training in the Impenetrable Armor technique and the Yin Refinement technique, he thought that his physical body was at the peak of what could have been achieved before he became a Luohan. Yet…
‘Now, with merely the strength of my physical body, I might even be able to equal a top first-rank!’
Su Qin looked extremely surprised. It was because a top first-rank was someone who had undergone at least one transformation among his physical body, Internal Force, and his Spirit. Any top first-rank warrior was powerful enough to bring an entire kingdom to its knees like the master of the Mengyuan Dynasty or Eunuch Zhao in the Tang Dynasty Palace.
If any of those top first-ranks found out that someone matched their power with merely their physical body, their jaws would have dropped to the ground from the shock.
‘With everything that I’ve accumulated, once my Internal Force goes through a transformation, I’m sure I’ll be able to break into the Luohan realm in a short amount of time.’
Su Qin was full of confidence.
‘The next thing to do is to cultivate my Internal Force patiently…’ thought Su Qin as he set his mind on the task ahead.
…
Abbot Hui Wen and the temple court heads stood on the outskirts of the Rear Mountain. Right at that moment, five figures slowly walked out of the restricted area.
“Is that?”
“They’re the five Divine Master Abbot patriarchs!?”
Abbot Hui Wen looked flabbergasted. As the Shaolin temple abbot of that generation, he was naturally able to recognize the patriarchs of the previous generations. However, abbot Hui Wen never expected to see those five patriarchs who were supposed to be dead, walking out of the Rear Mountain well and alive.
A moment later, when abbot Hui Wen exchanged words with the five Divine Master Abbots, he finally learned what happened from start to end. He learned that a Divine Master Abbot needed to be stationed outside the seal to guard the Demon Buddha that was imprisoned.
“Does that mean that the person who acted in secret to save the Shaolin temple the past few times was not one of you?” asked abbot Hui Wen abruptly.
“The five of us were in a false-death state all this while. There’s no way that it could’ve been one of us,” answered one of the Divine Master Abbots, whose face was covered in wrinkles.
As soon as he spoke, abbot Hui Wen and the other temple court heads were stunned. Was it possible that the Shaolin temple still had another Divine Master Abbot apart from the five that were in the Rear Mountain?
Just as abbot Hui Wen was deep in thought, the Divine Master Abbot that spoke at the start said, “The seal guarding the Demon Buddha is refortified. It no longer needs us to stand guard outside it. We’ll pass on in a couple of months at the most from now.”
Once those words were uttered, abbot Hui Wen and the other temple court heads looked solemn.
…
The entire Shaolin temple was shaken by the news of what happened at the Rear Mountain. However, only a couple of months passed before the five Divine Master Abbots that walked out of the restricted Rear Mountain passed away.
The Shaolin temple once returned to its usual calm state. The days returned to being long and uneventful.
During that period, abbot Hui Wen went into his Closed-Door Training in the hopes of advancing into the realm of a first-rank grandmaster. While abbot Hui Wen was in the midst of his Closed-Door Training, all the affairs of the Shaolin temple were managed temporarily by the Dharma Court head.
The changes among the leadership of the Shaolin temple caused intense discussion among many of the disciples, especially the Miscellaneous Court disciples. They discussed things like, “When would abbot Hui Wen come out of his Closed Door Training” and other matters.
As for Su Qin, he once again returned to his usual routine. He swept, signed in, and then underwent training for his Internal Force.
[Congratulations, host! Your sign-in is successful. You have obtained the Nirvana Pill.]
Su Qin was outside the Bodhi temple when it happened. His face lit up and he was overjoyed.
The Nirvana Pill was one of the Divine Pills of the Shaolin temple and it only had one function; to save one’s life.
Any martial artist no matter how severe their injuries were, would have been able to survive after consuming the Nirvana Pill. In Jianghu, there were very few of those types of life-preserving pills and elixirs, especially a divine pill like the Nirvana Pill which had absolutely no adverse side effects.
If word of the Nirvana Pill got out, it would have attracted the interest of a first-rank grandmaster or even a top first-rank and they would have stormed over to fight for it. After all, even a top first-rank warrior could not guarantee that they would never sustain any injuries.
Possession of a NIrvana Pill was equivalent to having a second life.
‘Not bad, not bad at all,’ thought Su Qin as he nodded his head. In any case, the day Su Qin felt like he had too many of these pills would never come.
Time drifted slowly.
In the blink of an eye, a year went by.
