Chapter 39: A Letter From The Family
The most incomprehensible aspect of Qi Deviation was that everything occurred inside the body.
The deviation of Internal Force.
The derangement of the meridians.
The disarmament of the Qi Vitality.
Even if others wanted to help, they were powerless when faced with the situation. That was the reason that even a first-rank grandmaster had no other option when faced with Qi Deviation apart from bracing themselves to use the brute force of their cultivation. Great damage to their vitality was the price to pay to save a person’s life.
However, all that was considered insignificant to Su Qin thanks to his Truth Seeing Eye. The Truth Seeing Eye could see all aura and Qi. Hence, everything that was going on within abbot Hui Wen’s body naturally could be seen by Su Qin.
If he wanted to save abbot Hui Wen, all that Su Qin needed to do was to follow the instructions of the Truth Seeing Eye. There was nothing difficult about it.
…
The temple court heads and abbot Hui Wen were still inside the Bodhi Court. Even though abbot Hui Wen was fully recovered, they made arrangements for him to rest and cultivate there for the time being.
The rest of the temple court heads had hundred-and-one questions, hence they did not leave either.
“Abbot, could you tell us which Divine Master Abbot patriarch of the Shaolin temple that was?” asked the Precept Court head as he was curious.
When Su Qin entered the Bodhi temple, his features and figure were concealed. All they saw was a blurry figure. However, since abbot Hui Wen was the only person that had contact with that Divine Master Abbot patriarch, there was a high possibility that abbot Hui Wen may have seen his real appearance.
“No.” Abbot Hui Wen shook his head. He told the truth and there was not a trace of deceit in his words.
He truly did not see Su Qin’s real appearance because at that moment he was so shocked by the fact that he fully recovered. Even if he did take a look, he would not have been able to see anything.
The other temple court heads were silent when they heard his words. Since they did not know why the Divine Master Abbot patriarch chose to conceal his appearance, they guessed that perhaps he suffered from some sort of ailment.
“That’s right. When a strange commotion occurred more than a year ago at the Rear Mountain and the seal was fortified, might that have anything to do with this Divine Master Abbot patriarch?” asked the Dharma Court head at that point.
As soon as he spoke, everyone present was shocked. When they questioned the five Divine Master Abbots that walked out of the Rear Mountain restricted area then, all of them frankly answered that they were all in a false-death state and did not tamper with the seal.
Furthermore, the seal was left by Luohan Tuo A. Hence, even if those five Divine Master Abbots wanted to do anything with the seal, they would not be able to. That raised quite a lot of questions in the minds of all the temple court heads. However, that was not all.
Since the Dharma temple court head brought up the topic once more, it sent all the others deep in thought.
“That’s enough! There’s no need to mention this issue anymore,” said abbot Hui Wen after he mumbled to himself for a while.
Whether the incidence at Rear Mountain did have anything to do with that Divine Master Abbot patriarch or not, no one knew for sure. Since he did not admit it, they should not wildly speculate. With regards to the seal left behind by Luohan Tuo A more than 900 years ago, its power was extremely high, that it was far above and beyond what anyone there could imagine.
…
Time passed slowly and another went by. On that particular day, it snowed. The Shaolin temple was enveloped with a velvety-white layer.
In front of the Scripture Pavilion, Su Qin swept the snow into piles.
[Congratulations, host! Your sign-in is successful. You have obtained the Radiant Fist technique.]
‘The Radiant Fist technique?’ Su Qin’s heart raced.
The Radiant fist technique was a great martial arts style of the Shaolin temple and was commonly referred to as the top punching technique.
There was a period in the past when the Shaolin temple was invaded by various powerful sects. The Shaolin temple abbot of that generation used only the punching technique to battle several first-rank grandmasters on his own. In the end, he successfully drove all of those great sects out of the Shaolin temple.
A short moment later, all the information on the Radiant Fist technique entered Su Qin’s mind. A moment passed before Su Qin opened his eyes. A look of surprise flashed across his face.
‘The person who established this punching style must’ve been a top first-rank grandmaster that had undergone at least one transformation,” muttered Su Qin to himself.
The subtleties of the Radiant Fist technique were extremely interesting, even to Su Qin. Since Su Qin obtained countless divine arts and amazing techniques from signing in at the Shaolin temple, it was clear that the technique must have been outstanding to pique Su Qin’s interest.
It was especially true that the last punch of that technique involved at least dozens of other martial arts styles. It was called A Hundred in One.
‘Pretty good. I now have another trump card to play,’ thought Su Qin. He was extremely pleased.
Over the past year, Su Qin diligently went around the Shaolin temple to sign in at various places and also used the Burning Demon Fire technique to purify his Internal Force. Su Qin increasingly felt the difficulties and challenges of martial arts training as his Internal Force continuously underwent purification.
Apart from that, various things occurred within the Shaolin temple in the past year. For example, the Dharma Court head managed to achieve a breakthrough and became the second second-rank martial artist after abbot Hui Wen. Abbot Hui Wen also spent several months cultivating in preparation to attempt another breakthrough.
According to Su Qin’s predictions, abbot Hui Wen would not have suffered from a Qi Deviation at that time. If everything went according to plan, after a few years, the Shaolin temple would have had another first-rank grandmaster.
Lastly, that year would have been…
Su Qin’s fifteenth year in the Shaolin temple!
“It’s been fifteen years already. Wow…” Su Qin looked up into the sky and softly sighed.
Snow continued to fall gently from the sky. It looked as though it would never stop. Su Qin allowed the falling snowflakes to land on him, doing nothing to stop it.
Fifteen years ago, Su Qin was forced to enter the Shaolin temple to escape a powerful enemy of the Su family. Su Qin would have never guessed that once he became a disciple of the Shaolin temple, fifteen years would pass just like that. Fifteen years ago, Su Qin was as weak as a reed blowing in the wind, far below the level of even a ninth-rank martial artist.
Fifteen years later, Su Qin attained the realm where he could control everything under the heavens. Even the master of the Mengyuan Dynasty or Zhang Zhenren of the Wudang Sect were not a match for him.
‘It seems that I like daydreaming, now that I’m older,’ thought Su Qin with a smile as he returned to the MIscellaneous Court. Once he was there, a disciple came looking for him.
“Zhen Guan, there’s a letter for you.”
The disciple placed a letter before Su Qin.
Even though the Shaolin temple valued ridding oneself of worldly desires, it did not forbid the disciples from communicating with the outside world. After all, many of the Shaolin temple disciples were not orphans and still had living relatives outside the temple. Even though they became Shaolin disciples, there was no way they could have completely severed their relationships with their family.
“It’s a letter from the Su family?”
Su Qin scanned the front of the envelope. Over the past fifteen years, the Su family often wrote him letters. He thought that it would be the same. As he thought about it, Su Qin opened the envelope and read the letter.
A moment passed.
Su Qin put down the letter and looked confused.
‘So my little sister…She’s about to get married…’
The image of a little girl with a constant runny nose that followed him everywhere appeared in his mind.
Before Su Qin entered the Shaolin temple, he was the Third Young Master of the Su family. He had two older brothers and a younger sister. All four of them had a close bond with each other as well as with their parents.
His younger sister was seven years younger than him. She always had a runny nose and would never leave Su Qin’s side. Su Qin was the closest to his sister.
The letter contained the news that she was about to be married.
‘I don’t understand…’
Su Qin remained deep in thought for a while. When it was daybreak, he left the Shaolin temple.
It was the first time in fifteen years that Su Qin left the Shaolin temple.
