Chapter 27: If They Don’t Want Me Here, There’s Gotta Be Somewhere That Does.
Looking at those miserable slave soldiers, Bick’s expression was very ugly. He didn’t think that Hellfire would be so cruel to his own kind.
Bick, who had transmigrated here, had only seen such a miserable scene in the old photos that described the Nazi concentration camps.
However, even in those old photos, he was at most skinny and didn’t have many whip marks and scars.
Seeing Bick’s expression, Ted Jones’s eyes flashed as he went to talk to him.
He could see that the man in front of him, who had just extinguished the Hellfire, was angry at their miserable situation.
In Ted Jones’s memory, the few remaining people with compassion in the wasteland were either swallowed by other forces, or have long been forcibly changed by this sh*tty world.
How long can the man in front of him last?
It’s almost too easy for a few hundred slave soldiers to remove a heavy machine gun, as for the RPG, Kate was holding it like a baby in her arms, not allowing anyone else to help.
“Oh women, I see they’re all interested in the thick and long stuff!” A mysterious smile hung on the corner of Bick’s mouth.
Yes, the Hellfire mercenary group had hundreds of slave soldiers. Now, all of them belonged to Bick.
Of course, Bick would not use them as slaves.
Slavery itself was not in line with the development of society. The productivity was too low. Moreover, Bick could not get over the hurdle in his heart.
“From now on, you will be employees of Bick Chamber of Commerce. You will receive a base salary of one energy point per week. Depending on the position and the value created, there will be more bonuses.” As they walked toward the town, Bick said to the slave soldiers led by Ted.
“Pa-da!” The two slave soldiers carrying tripods heard this and were so shocked that their hands trembled, and the tripods fell to the ground.
Immediately, all the slave soldiers cast pitying looks at the two of them.
In the past, when they were in the hellfire, such mistakes were definitely not something that could be overcome by whipping and branding iron. It was very likely that they would be executed.
Now that they had just met a good master who could earn one energy point a week, were they going to die?
None of the slave soldiers thought of resisting and saving their two companions.
After all, a treasure like the heavy machine gun had to be carefully protected by any force.
Those who damaged such precious weapons, even the elites of the various forces, would be punished, not to mention that they were just slave soldiers before.
Moreover, one energy point a week was the price of a full ten nutrient supply. It was already good enough for them to get one nutrient supply three days ago.
They were going to have a good life soon. Who would save their two companions who had obviously made a mistake?
Even the two slave soldiers themselves did not want to escape or resist. They only felt that they were unlucky.
They were clearly going to make it, but they had committed such a crime. For a moment, they kneeled on the ground in a daze, waiting for someone to cut their throats and bleed them out.
“Pick it up and continue walking. Why are you kneeling here?” Bick urged them inexplicably and then continued to move toward the South Gate of Liberty Town.
Seeing that he didn’t seem to be joking, Ted hurriedly kicked his two dumb companions up. “Hurry up and follow Lord Bick. You’ll have a good life in the future.”
For a moment, the eyes of all the slave soldiers became lively, and they were no longer numb and empty.
Bick was also secretly proud in his heart. “So I also have the ability to buy people’s hearts. However, they are indeed a little pitiful. Now that they are so poor, even if I smash their bones, I wouldn’t find anything valuable. I can get enough nutrient supply every day and raise them until they are plump. Then, I can choose those with outstanding talent and inject them with genetic medicine. In the future, who would dare to treat me as the lone wolf Bick?”
Thinking about it, the Hellfire mercenary group was still very considerate. When Bick lacked a target to establish his authority, they would send themselves to Bick’s door to be tortured.
When Bick felt that they lacked manpower, they still left behind so many slave soldiers.
In particular, they treated these slave soldiers so cruelly that Bick only had to treat them normally in exchange for their loyalty.
When they reached the south gate of the Liberty Town, Bick and his group were stopped.
It was obvious that the people of Liberty Town could follow the same logic.
In the past, Bick and Kate were only the most ordinary wasteland visitors. It didn’t matter how many such people were let in.
In fact, their weapons wouldn’t even be taken away, because Liberty Town had the confidence to subdue a bunch of scattered wasteland people.
But now, with hundreds of people carrying heavy machine guns and individual cannons that had just displayed their might, they couldn’t help but make Liberty Town feel as if they were facing a formidable enemy.
Moreover, Bick had an unknown secret channel that could smuggle weapons in and out.
Who would dare to let him bring hundreds of people into the town?
Bick curled his lips. He could understand the town’s behavior.
He called out to Ted, “Take these people to the villa area seventy miles east of the free town. That’s where we’ll be stationed.”
After giving his instructions, Bick gave Ted another three thousand energy points to pay everyone’s salary for the month. He also bought various materials to build his base.
Liberty Town had its own considerations, and Bick wasn’t willing to gather all his subordinates here.
The new forces were most afraid of being infiltrated by others. Arranging these people to the villa area was the best choice.
Bick also trusted Ted and the others to bring the heavy machine guns and the box of bullets over.
This made these ex-slaves very moved, and they all wished they could die for Bick right now.
Of course, the things that the system had received could be stored into the space at any time. Although there was a distance limit, it was a full 100 miles.
This also guaranteed that no one would use the system items against him.
In other words, if these people dared to take his machine gun and bullets and escape, it would only be wishful thinking.
Looking at the high-energy battery in his hand, there were still a total of 8,000 energy points left. Bick felt that it was more important for him to take Kate and enjoy themselves.
After working for so long, he thought that he could relax in Liberty Town. Who knew that after staying in a luxury suite for one night, he would be challenged by someone.
This also gave Bick the idea of buying a house. After all, the construction of the old nest still needed time.
At present, Liberty Town was the best place to live. It could guarantee a minimum of safety and also provide a rich supply of materials.
Even if the nest was built in the future, there would still be a stronghold in the free town, right.
After all, this was a large survivor base with a permanent population of more than 300,000. There must be no lack of business exchanges.
The two of them arrived at the rich area in the center of the Liberty Town. There was a high wall between here and the outer perimeter. It was even taller and sturdier than the outermost wall of the town.
After paying another 10 energy points each, the two of them finally entered the wealthy district in the center of Liberty Town, which was described as a paradise.
Before the two of them could enjoy the scenery around them, a very pretentious voice suddenly sounded.
“Oh my god, that old Bob guy really would do anything for money. Every day, there are bumpkins who spend to come to the wealthy district just to experience the world. They contaminate the air so much that it stinks!”
