When she got back to the small room, there were still ten minutes left before Wen Qing’s performance.
She stood and waited beside the microphone, which was in front of a monitor displaying a live feed of the stage.
Finally, the music of the previous performance ended, and the host came forward to announce Wen Qing’s performance.
“Miss Wen Xi, pay attention. It’s about to start.” Tang Xin, standing beside her, urged her.
Wen Xi made an ‘OK’ gesture with her hand, pulled the mask down below her chin, and hoped that Qin Ruoer would not let her down.
The intro slowly began.
On the monitor, a thick fog slowly convered the stage, and ten dancers carried Wen Qing onto the stage.
“No matter what I do, I can still see that window, the window of my love. Those dreams of old memories have made me so broken…” She began to sing.
Clank!
Suddenly, all the lights in the room were down, and the sound was cut off.
“What’s going on!” “What happened?” Everyone began to panic.
However, without Wen Xi’s voice, the accompaniment kept playing. The audience watched as Wen Qing’s lips moved without sound, and were even more confused by the situation.
Wen Xi could not help but smile when she realised her wish had come true.
“Miss Tang, what should I do?” She said, pretending to be flustered.
“Find out what the problem is.” Tang Xin ordered someone.
The security guard immediately gave way and opened the door.
An unexpected group of reporters rushed in the moment the door opened, their camera flashes going off incessantly.
Strangely enough, the lights turned back on as well.
Tang Xin reacted immediately to the situation, as it had become apparent that this was a conspiracy against them, and she pulled Wen Xi’s mask back up to cover her face and pushed her to hide behind herself.
The reporters however already knew who they were looking for, and headed straight for Wen Xi.
“Miss, please tell me, when did you become Wen Qing’s vocalist? Did you do it for money?”
“Why didn’t you become a singer yourself? Is it because of your looks?”
“Everyone! This is a misunderstanding! She is part of our staff. There is no so-called substitute!” Tang Xin explained.
The reporters weren’t buying it.
“What professional equipment!” “We aren’t blind!” They refuted.
The situation was chaotic, and Tang Xin winked secretly at Wen Xi, hinting at her to flee.
Eventually, Tang Xin said to the reporters, “Everyone! Listen to me! I will give you an explanation…”
When Wen Xi was sure Tang Xin had gotten the reporters’ attention, she quickly made an escape around the reporters.
“She’s running away!” Someone shouted.
It was as if the signal had been fired at a 100-meter sprint. The reporters immediately rushed after Wen Xi.
Wen Xi ran as fast as she could, so she wouldn’t be caught on camera.
However, the reporters, obviously professionals at their job, were all much better runners than her.
They soon ran past Wen Xi and surrounded her. Some even grabbed her shoulders to make sure she wouldn’t escape.
They grabbed her wound, which had still not healed, causing Wen Xi to grit her teeth in pain.
She desperately tried to protect her face while looking for an exit amongst the crowd.
Fortunately, Tang Xin’s team had come to protect her. She survived the reporters stepping over her, but the wound had completely re-opened, and her clothes were soaked with blood.
Tang Xin grabbed her and pushed her forward, saying hurriedly, “Go down this road while I lead them away!”
The venue was incredibly large, and it took Wen Xi a few minutes before she finally reached the exit, which unfortunately, was blocked by a large group of reporters.
The reporters inside must have notified their colleagues.
Wen Xi was still bleeding, and her physical strength was draining quickly, and she decided to rest behind a column.
The show was broadcasted live, so within minutes people had already uploaded edited videos of Wen Qing’s mishap, with headlines that she was lip-syncing and using a substitute vocalist.
Videos of Wen Xi had also been uploaded within a few minutes. The news had spread quickly.
(In Weihai Town)
“Why are you on your phone when we hardly get any rest as it is?”
Upon hearing his voice, she held up her phone to show him the screen.
“Dr. He, big news! It turns out that Wen Qing had been lip syncing, wow! The reporters have allgone crazy! The girl who was doing the vocals for her seems really badly injured!”
