Wen Xi nodded. “If I got anything wrong, let me know. I’ll buy another one.”
He took the bag from her hands and looked inside. There were two packaged gifts in there, obviously a lot of effort went into the gift.
He Yan didn’t say anything, and that silent, handsome face of his held a sort of mystery that she just couldn’t get past.
As the silence continued, she became increasingly nervous.
The heat of summer was getting worse by the day, and she felt more and more uncomfortable. Even the light winds that would come through sometimes were of no help.
Behind her, her hands fidgeted about as she watched his eyes, silently speaking. “Also, you’ve saved me so many times. For that I can’t repay you, so if you need any help, just tell me. I’ll try my best.”
With that, she nibbled her lip and pointed somewhere else. “I’ll go first then.”
She left before he could respond, walking back to Jiang He quickly, without the courage to even look back at him.
A crisp wind blew over, cooling down her heated face. At that moment, she felt her body and even her heart lighten up. A smile appeared on her face.
This feeling, it was as if she’d just finished some hardcore exams.
Jiang Ke had been waiting the whole time, acting as if she weren’t there. Now that Wen Xi finally come back, she grabbed her and spoke in a hushed tone. “Speak! Why are you so close with Doctor He? What did you guys talk about? Why did you give him the gifts meant for Nan Yunchauan!”
Without He Yan’s massive aura beside her, Wen Xi felt her heart had calmed down and she’d returned to her peaceful self. She ignored the question. “Didn’t you say you wanted his signature? How come you’re not getting it anymore?”
Jiang Ke curled her lips. “You didn’t see just now? His assistants wouldn’t let me get close to him at all! Also, don’t change the subject! Tell me your what your relationship with him is!”
Jiang Ke grabbed Wen Xi’s face. “Tell me!”
Wen Xi knew what she was like. She’d would never let it go if she didn’t give an answer. She started to tell her about all that had happened since Weihai Town.
Two minutes later, Jiang Ke was so pissed that she couldn’t even speak properly.
“You’re saying that that little bastard woman Nan Muyun hired someone to have you killed? Then what are you doing? Call the cops!”
A plop from the vending machine.
Wen Xi took the beverage out for her. “It’s hot, try not to burn to death. Have something to drink.”
Nan Muyun had come from the same high school as the two of them, so they already knew each other. Jiang Ke and Muyun had been in the student council together, so they’d had had their fair share of arguments. Even until now, Jiang Ke would still never meet up with Muyun.
Jiang Ke took the beverage and stared at her with her pretty eyes. “You’re still smiling about it, huh? Can’t you remember how you almost got killed by her?”
Wen Xi adjusted her bag, speaking softly. “Don’t worry, I’m not just going to take it like that. Alright, now that we’ve finally caught up, let’s stop talking about her and have fun.”
Jiang Ke heaved her bag up. “Alright then.”
She took Wen Xi’s arm, and thought about something. “Right, even if you’re apologizing to him through gifts, you can’t just give him underwear, right. People would misunderstand.”
“It’s underwear that I damaged. It’s underwear that I should give back, no misunderstanding there.”
Jiang Ke smiled an evil smile. “You can’t be sure, though. Be careful, he might fall for you and fight Nan Yunchuan for your hand!”
At the mention of Yunchuan’s name, Wen Xi’s lips tugged into a faint, silent scowl.
