Once the transfer procedures were finished, Wen Xi sighed in relief.
It was all done, she could transfer schools now.
She had hung out with Jiang Ke for the last two days. After all, she didn’t want to see the other three women in her house, and she was going to do the same this afternoon, going on a picnic with Jiang Ke.
Jiang Ke took a couple of pictures before showing Wen Xi, who had her head lowered, looking at her phone. “Look here.”
Wen Xi raised her head, and the moment was captured with the camera.
“Damn, this looks pretty good! You’re a natural-born beauty, you don’t have any bad angles at all!” Jiang Ke ran over.
Just as she finished speaking, she saw a big square gift box. “Hm? What’s that, who are you giving that to?”
Wen Xi put down the phone after the text, looking at her. “It’s Grandma He’s grandson’s birthday, and she invited me. It’s a birthday gift.”
“Grandma He? It’s not Doctor He’s grandma, is it?” Jiang Ke inched closer.
Wen Xi smiled a bit, admitting through her silence.
Jiang Ke looked pretty interested, smiling all the while. “Want to bring me along? I might get to meet Doctor He!”
Wen Xi lay down on the grass, looking at the skies. “Not really, I don’t want to stay too long.”
It was six, and Wen Xi started driving over to the He house.
The car entered a quiet area, and she accelerated.
Suddenly, a car came behind her, overtaking and stopping in front of her.
She hit the brakes and frowned. What was going on?
The car stopped as well, and a person stepped out. Under the lights, she could see his appearance. The elegant combination of features made her tighten her grip on the wheel.
Her mind went back to the time she spent trapped for those few days in her last life.
At that moment, he grabbed her chin, mocking her. “Madam Nan’s position was already given to you, not enough? Why are you so greedy?”
“I will not change for any woman, not this Nan Yunchuan. You want me to belong to you only? Give up. Let the servant tidy you up, and if you’re bored go learn gardening or something, and call me less. If I miss you I’ll come back eventually.”
“Divorce? What a joke.”
“Still haven’t come to terms with your emotions? Then stay locked up, I have plenty of time to mess with you.”
The car window started rolling down, cutting Wen Xi’s memories off.
She took a deep breath and calmed her anger.
She lowered her window and looked at him. “What is it?’
Yuchuan smiled at her cold face, his eyes kind and gentle. “Seems like my Xixi is still mad at me.”
His words had a ‘bad guy’ feeling to them, and it was something Wen Xi used to see as his cool personality. Now, it was something she hated the most.
He continued talking. “Muyun was already punished- what else are you angry about? Tell me, hm?”
He reached into the window, touching her hand on the steering wheel. “For you, I canceled my entire trip. That’s a good fiance, no? Hm?”
Wen Xi moved his hand away. “I have something to do. Bye.”
With that, she lowered the window more and forced his hand away.
Yunchuan was a proud man. Even before they were a couple he never suffered such coldness from her. His patience was running thin, and some primal sense of pride had started to wake up.
With only another second of delay, he reacted by walked to the front of the car, putting his hand on it. “Get out of the car, Xixi.”
His eyes were dark, a sign that he’d run out of patience.
Wen Xi made no move to get out of the car, staring at him dead-on instead as she turned the steering wheel.
