Chapter 52: Sitting Across Each Other
Wen Xi walked into the house in her wedding dress, looking around. Just her first look had already made a pretty good impression.
The smell of flowers hit her; a wonderful and calm breeze.
Many types of flowers and grasses with some antiques were tastefully positioned, making the whole place look that much more serene. On the left side of the hallway there was a small pond, with a nice wooden bridge in the middle of it, connecting to the little eight-sided pavilion.
The breeze came flowing over, and the smell of lotus from the pond touched her nose. Looking over, she saw some equipment to make tea on the table inside the pavilion.
She didn’t expect He Yan to be a tea kind of guy.
The car was parked and locked, and she looked over to see He Yan walking over.
He was wearing a dress shirt and dress pants, the blazer over his shoulder as he walked over. The shirt framed his solid figure pretty well.
This guy was a walking hormone.
He walked over to the front of the villa and stopped, looking to Wen Xi. “Come.”
Only when she walked close did he enter the password, not intending to hide at all. Wen Xi blinked before quickly looking away.
The place was pretty quiet both inside and out. It felt comfortable.
Wen Xi said as she looked around the entire place. “Have you always lived here alone?”
“Yeah.”
He Yan bent down from the shoe cabinet and pulled out a new pair of women’s slippers for her. “There.”
Wen Xi, still wearing heels, felt much more comfortable in the flat-soled shoes.
The two walked into the living room, with Wen Xi carefully gathering up her dress behind him.
“Take a seat. Water or coffee?” He Yan went to the kitchen.
“Cold water, thanks.”
He Yan opened the fridge as Wen Xi quickly took a look around. The place had good Feng Shui, just like He Yan. Clean and serious, and thirty percent casual.
The man humorously looked up, smiling when he saw the girl looking around curiously.
He took a glass of cold water over to her with some tissues, placing them in front of her.
“Thanks.” Wen Xi took the water and drank half of it.
She was pretty thirsty, and the glass was empty soon enough.
Putting it down, she realized He Yan was staring at her.
“Do you need anything else?”
Wen Xi blinked. She shook her head. “No thanks.”
It was touching to her, doctors were different after all. He still had a caring energy about him after coming from the hospital.
He Yan sat down across from her casually, not saying anything.
And the dreaded silence came in.
Wen Xi looked around, tugging at her lips. “My grandparents will probably be coming back soon.”
“No need to rush.” The man said.
Wen Xi placed her raised butt down, sitting down again.
He put the tissue box closer to her. “Wipe some sweat off first.”
Wen Xi did as he said, moving the tissue over her forehead.
But she felt like more sweat was forming because of that. She was probably too nervous.
He took some magazines from the table, lowering his head and reading. “Be careful when you go out these days, there might be paparazzi walking about.”
“Hm?” Wen XI didn’t quite understand.
“Xu Rui is pretty famous in her industry, and plenty of people want to know more about her. With such a big incident as today, the reporters would do everything they can, especially when you’re involved.”
His voice was soft, but powerful and hard-hitting at the same time.
He was right.
“I’ll be careful.” She nodded.
Some silence later, he asked. “When does school start?”
“The first.”
He raised his eyes. “The first?”
“Yeah, I transferred to a film school. The first of next month.”
