Chapter 13: I Want to Understand You

How different?
Nina didn’t ask. She didn’t feel the need to continue dwelling on this subject. After all, they wouldn’t cross paths again after tonight.
“We’d better figure out a way to get back.” Nina eyed the scrapped sports car. It looked like they were going to have to walk back to the highway tonight.
However, it was unclear how far they were from their point of entry into the forest. Based on their previous car speed, the two of them were probably deep within the forest.
Hugh found his phone in the car, but it had broken when the car crashed.
As for Nina, she had not brought her phone at all.
Nina crouched down to examine their route based on the wheel tracks.
Hugh, on the other hand, leaned against the tree trunk and idly observed Nina’s movements. It seemed that he was not in a hurry to exit the forest. “You’re quite experienced.”
Nina didn’t look at him. “This way.”
Hugh moved his long legs and followed Nina. “Are you still in school?”
“Mhm.”
“Which school?”
“…”
“There aren’t any colleges in Hommes. Do you go to a school in Boston?”
“…”
“Students should be on vacation around this time. When are you returning to Boston?”
“Are you investigating me?”
The man said matter-of-factly, “As I said, I just want to understand you.”
Nina felt that her momentary indulgence was a complete mistake.
Given the man’s looks, Nina thought there would be a good chance that he would be the kind of man who wouldn’t admit what he had done. She didn’t think he’d be so bold to stick to her.
Before long, there were countless lights ahead.
Accompanied by shouts, someone came looking for them.
“Nina!” Cathy ran forward and looked at her from head to toe. “They said they found that the protective fence had been broken through when they were on the second lap and that your car was in trouble! You really scared me to death. If something happened to you, how should I explain it to Molly?”
Seeing that Nina was fine, Cathy was genuinely relieved.
After all, this was the first night Nina had just arrived in town.
Cathy used taking Nina to a party and meeting new friends as an excuse to drag her out to race.
If anything happened, Boris would probably be furious.
“Are you okay? Why is your face so red, like it’s hot?” Cathy noticed Nina’s odd expression.
A group of people also surrounded Hugh. Nina immediately saw the blond woman in the crowd—Elena.
Elena had an evidently uneasy expression on her face. She had been secretly eying Hugh, occasionally shifting her probing gaze to Nina.
This woman probably really wanted to know if her drug had worked.
Nina could not help but recall the scene of her naked and entangled under the airbag. Her already hot body became even more parched.
She closed her eyes in annoyance and tried to suppress her thoughts.
“Let’s go home,” said Nina, sounding irritated as she began walking away first.
Cathy opened her mouth to say something but ultimately turned to Brent. “See you tomorrow.”
With that, she hurried after Nina.
Brent ran after them. “I’ll drive you.”
Hugh stood in the crowd and looked at Nina’s back as she walked away. The corner of his lips lifted into a striking arc.
He stood tall and straight under the dark moonlight, exuding a grand aura. His well-defined side profile looked distant and cold.
“Hugh…” Elena was captivated by his side profile. She walked forward and spoke carefully.
Hugh retracted his gaze and looked at Elena. His beautiful eyes suddenly turned cold like a glacier.
Elena shivered and turned pale.
—
Brent’s car was a 2-seater, so he found another car and personally drove them back.
Cathy was afraid that Nina might snatch the front passenger seat, so she said in advance, “You sit in the back. I’ll sit in the front.”
Nina opened the car door and sat in the back seat right away. She said indifferently, “You’re thinking too much. I never sit in the front.”
Unless it was a 2-seater sports car, then she would be left with no choice.
