Chapter 24: Honorary President, Magic Book Collection
After noting the attitude of these colleagues from the Mages’ Association, Andrew felt a little awkward. He was in no mood to chat with these people, partly because he had some regrets. To test his spell, he had burned the valuable Cyclops to worthless ashes.
‘A lot of rare materials have been wasted.’ He sighed in his heart.
When the other mages in the Association saw that Andrew was silent, they naturally did not dare to disturb him. So the group, though victorious, boarded the dirigible back to the city in a rather somber atmosphere.
On the way, Andrew occupied a small room on the airship and began to analyze the specific effects of the red lotus flare that he had released earlier. Meanwhile, the other mages were gathered around the vice president Lanza, discussing another matter with serious expressions.
“Currently, there doesn’t seem to be anything in our Rafax City’s Magic Association that can attract Mr. Smith,” Lanza said with a frown and some distress.
“Currently, all the resources that can be used have already been made available. Whether it’s the magic crystal training room or the library, Mr. Smith can mobilize all the resources in the entire Magic Association, but it’s still not enough!”
He had a slight headache.
“Don’t spread the news that the Cyclops was easily destroyed, or else other cities will come and poach him.”
A young mage suggested and everyone present nodded. However, no one believed that this method was effective. The reason was simple. The mages present did not agree and the news could not be hidden for long.
“How many years has it been since our Rafax city has produced such a person?”
A middle-aged man frowned. The scene of Andrew easily killing the Cyclops made him certain that a small place like Rafax city would not be able to keep this Fellow!
At this moment, Lanza suddenly gritted his teeth, slapped his thigh, and stood up abruptly.
“Alright, everyone, stop talking. Our Rafax City indeed can’t keep Fellow Smith for long. With his strength, he will go to a bigger stage. He might even have a seat in the entire Mage Council of the Moore Republic.”
“We can forget about keeping him here forever. As long as we can leave a good impression on him and remember our friendship, that will be good.”
“I’ve decided to report to the Association Headquarters immediately and use the only Honorary President’s position in Rafax City.”
“What?”
Everyone was shocked when they heard this. Immediately, a mage who looked quite old tried to stop him.
“Vice president Lanza, you have to think twice.”
As he spoke, his voice became softer and softer.
Lanza nodded calmly.
“The Honorary President will receive the same treatment as the President. Fellow Smith will be allowed to browse through our Association’s private magic book collection. This is the only reward we can give that person.”
All the mages present had different expressions, but no one objected.
…
“Honorary President?”
Andrew had originally planned to return home after returning to the Association. He felt guilty because he had drained the magic crystal training room dry, so after he finished cultivating his magic every day, he would give pointers to others in the Association. But other than that, he couldn’t find any work that needed to be done by him.
Lanza’s suggestion had piqued his interest.
“I can freely allocate the various resources of the Association, as well as assign missions. Is it equivalent to having the President’s authority?”
“That’s right. Moreover, with your efficiency, you should have read most of the magic books in the Association. This magic book collection that only the President can access might be of some use to you.”
Lanza continued to persuade him. Although the conditions he offered were very generous, he still acted as if he was afraid that Andrew would not agree. In his opinion, a powerful mage with such strength and a mature age would have terrifying experience and knowledge, he might not be interested in his meager wealth in Rafax City.
Andrew himself was a little surprised.
‘Everything is going so well as if God is helping me.’
Previously, he had already finished learning the intermediate fire magic and was even forced to advance two spells before he could complete the awakening of the fire spirit. However, Andrew could faintly sense that, as an intermediate mage, he had yet to reach the limit of refining his magic power.
‘If I can get access to this magic book collection, I should be able to refine quite a bit of my magic power.’
“Alright, I agree.”
Andrew nodded, which surprised Lanza.
“That’s good, I’ll give you the right to enter the magic book collection directly. Previously, we’ve already informed the Association Headquarters, and they’ll soon be able to issue an official appointment. In addition, becoming the Honorary President is also considered a big matter. We need to announce it publicly in the City.”
Lanza rattled on about a bunch of things to take note of. Andrew only made a gesture to him to stop.
“Can I get access to the magic book collection now?”
He seemed to be a little impatient.
Lanza was stunned for a moment but immediately replied, “No problem, no problem.”
He was not surprised. After all, Andrew had given him the impression that he was obsessed with magic cultivation. Therefore, Lanza was just glad that his efforts to rope him in had worked, he excitedly led Andrew to the Mage Tower in the center of the Association. This time, they did not go up. Lanza walked to a place that was similar to an underground entrance and inlaid a medal on it.
“As the President has gone to explore the secret realm on his own, this medal that opens the magic book collection is temporarily in my custody. I’ll hand it over to you later.”
Lanza respectfully handed over the medal in his hand.
“Okay.”
Andrew took it and discovered that this medal was made of some special ore, with the image of a giant tree engraved on it.
“I won’t go in,” Lanza said respectfully.
Andrew nodded and entered the basement where the Association’s magic book collection was located.
He did a large amount of reading. There were not many books in the collection, only about 10 bookshelves. However, what surprised Andrew was that he had indeed discovered a lot of intermediate magic that he had not learned yet. What was even more surprising was, after Andrew casually grabbed a few intermediate and advanced magic books in his hands, he discovered a book with a thick cover on the back row of bookshelves. It was a book called ‘A Brief Introduction to The Cultivation of The Great Mage And The Arcane’.
Andrew walked over and thought for a moment but did not take out the book.
‘Forget it. Based on the current situation, even if I know some knowledge about the arcane, with the quality of my magic power and my understanding of fire spells, it is still not enough to support my cultivation. I should study these intermediate and advanced magic first..’
