Married To A Savage Duke - Chapter 61-1
“You are the most beautiful bride in the world.” Lucy, standing in front of the closet, murmured tearfully. From the moment that sound went over twenty times, Cherryl didn’t respond. Lucy wasn’t the only one who was so moved that she constantly praised her because she had to dress up for a long time. Lily and Mrs. Bailey, as well as the maids, came from nowhere in succession and threw lark-like exclamations, It wasn’t an exaggeration to admit that she heard all kinds of praises there was to hear since this morning. At first, Cherryl thanked them one by one, but when her voice began to hurt, she didn’t reply anymore. At last, the grooming was finished and Cherryl looked at herself in the mirror. The subtle yet lovely and fresh makeup was natural and not excessive, but the pure white wedding dress held a brilliant glow. Small jewels that reflected light were densely embedded in the upper body exposing her shoulders and arms so that even a slight twist would cause her bodice to sparkle with brilliance. The design was fitted to her skin and her elegant curves were revealed. The skirt, overlaid with several layers of thin tulle fabric, naturally stretched and fluttered even with light movements. Her hair was hung down with thick curls around heated bars and after loosely tying only half of it, it was twisted several times so that the fixing pins and straps couldn’t be seen until it was finished. The neat yet elegant hairstyle went so well with the white ball gown. She was a dazzlingly beautiful new bride even in her own eyes.
“This is a little uncomfortable.” However, a series of sighs flowed out of her lips. Even though Lucy had loosened the corset, she still couldn’t breathe well. It was stuffy and tightened her ribs so hard. When she touched her back, she heard threads popping as if a jewel had been caught in her fingernail. Lily, who was smiling satisfactorily as if she were looking at a completed masterpiece, rushed in fright.
“No! It’s perfect as it is right now. What are you talking about?”
“I think it’s probably because of the corset. I need to take off my dress and check.”
“Please bear with it, My Lady. The lord and the guests are already waiting at the wedding ceremony!”
“That’s not the problem. It’s hard for me to breathe because my waist is so tight and the wire keeps poking my wing bone.”
“Everything that’s pretty is uncomfortable.” Lily replied as if it were a given. Then, she put a rose-scented lace veil over Cherryl’s head.
“You’ll change into an evening gown that’s more comfortable to wear at the reception. Please bear with me until then, My Lady.”
Cherryl paled.
“There are still three hours left until the reception!”
“If you talk to the guests after the wedding ceremony, you will lose track of time.”
Cherryl glanced at the maid with sad eyes. “Lily. One day I’ll secretly put salt in your tea.”
“If I could show the world’s most beautiful bride in the whole empire, I would eat that salt sweetly.”
Lily carefully took care of the clothing’s thread or any tangled parts in her hair. Cherryl couldn’t complain because Lily only chose words and actions that were so affectionate. Cherryl rose from the dressing table with a groan. Now it was time to go to the grand garden where the ceremony was located. They said that the wedding day was a woman’s dream, but it felt like a nightmare. Perhaps the tight corset caging her upper body was the culprit. Was there anything that would bother her as much as feeling uncomfortable somewhere on such an important day? The castle was so large that she had to take a carriage to get to the grand garden. In the carriage, Cherryl wriggled her shoulders, thinking that she would rather stand than sit down because of the hard corset clamping her down. Before long the carriage had stopped, and someone outside opened the door.
“Thank you.”
Cherryl, who was about to say hello naturally, made eye contact with the man standing in front of the carriage. Cade, who was supposed to meet her in front of the glass greenhouse so that they could walk along the wedding aisle together, looked down at her with a slightly stiff countenance. Cherryl also took a close look at him, who suddenly faced her. His straight forehead and dark eyebrows were revealed when his fine black hair was brushed back. His strong physique and angled jawline made him stand out. He appeared more like an heir from a high-ranking aristocratic family with a long history than a head of a vicious bandit.
‘It’s not exactly wrong.’
Smiling, Cherryl reached out to him. He was supposed to escort her out of the carriage, but Cade held her fingertips and remained motionless. He glued his lips to the back of Cherryl’s hand slowly without breaking eye contact.
“I got tired of waiting, so I came out.”
Instead of elaborating further, Cade lifted the cumbersome veil. His protruding fingers gently swept Cherryl’s cheek carefully as if she was his most fragile treasure.
“You’re the loveliest thing I’ve ever had in my life.” He murmured in an ecstatic voice. Cherryl burst into laughter as he continued to stare at her in bewilderment.
“You must like my dress.”
He raised the corners of his mouth faintly, staring as if he was ready to peel off her clothes. “I would have liked it no matter what you wore. It’s a special day, so I’m very moved.” The focus was a little loose on Cade’s gaze. It was clear that he was losing his mind. If she left him as he was, she thought he would be just staring at her endlessly.
“If you don’t assist me off this carriage, I’ll go back to the castle.”
When Cherryl spoke playfully, he finally pulled her hand. Straight into his firm arms, what she received was a kiss. Cherryl, who had been absent-minded for a while, shed a silly smile. She couldn’t get used to that pleasant smack.
