Chapter 379 – Lu Jue mumbled in the middle of the night. (3)
There went her daughter-in-law, and Mother Lu had yet to meet her.
Father Lu didn’t think as much as Mother Lu did. He produced the invitation from the Ning family and said, “Old Mr. Ning sent over an invitation. He has been reunited with his granddaughter and will be hosting a banquet to introduce her.”
“Ah, it’s nice that he will no longer be alone.”
Mother Lu lamented. “The Ning family is in the southern part of the country. Why don’t we have Xiao Jue go? He can use a change of scenery. It’s not healthy for him to focus all his time on work after he had broken up with his girlfriend. We don’t want him to get depressed.”
Father Lu had always listened to his wife. “Sure, whatever you say.”
Lying in bed that night, Lu Jue’s headache got worse with time. It felt like it was about to explode.
He dreamt about Odd Big Sister every night.
But he was never able to see her face.
The more he wanted to see her face, the more difficult it was for him to see it. It was as though there was a white smoke hovering right over her face.
He tried very hard to see, to recall. As though there was a lock in his brain, he was not able to dive in too deeply.
Lu Jue’s eyes dimmed when he thought about Lu Jue, who had disappeared on him.
He had not been able to find her in the last few days. None of the men that he had sent were able to find any traces of her. She had appeared out of thin air; then disappeared into thin air.
Their meeting the other day seemed like a fragment of his imagination.
It felt as though the little beast in his chest had been abandoned. Lonely and blue, it badly needed comforting.
Lu Jue rolled over in the quiet night and mumbled reflexively, “Zhizhi……”

Mother Lu found out that her son had fallen ill the next day.
“What happened? How did you get sick all of a sudden?”
Mother Lu noticed that her son’s face was pale, his lips dried and his face strict. He looked cool but also sickly.
Mother Lu was a little worried. Had her son fallen ill from the breakup?
“Here I was thinking to have you attend the Ning’s family reunion dinner in City South. But now that you are ill, you should just stay home and rest. Your dad and I will go by ourselves,” said Mother Lu.
“The Ning family?”
“That’s right. Old Mr. Ning had reunited with his granddaughter recently and he wanted to have a big celebration. But you shan’t tire yourself up now that you are ill. You should stay home and rest up.”
Lu Jue’s face was pale and his eyes too overly black. Looking at golden “Ning” character on the invitation that Mother Lu was holding in her hand, he said, “I will go.”
“You will go?”
Mother Lu hadn’t expected her son to volunteer to attend the banquet. “But you are ill.”
“It’s nothing. Just a little cold.” His nose sounded stuffy. It didn’t sound like “just a cold” that he tried to play it off as.
Lu Jue took the invitation out of his mother’s hand. “Yes.”

Over at City Nan.
Without the annoying people around her, Ning Zhi’s days at the Ning’s were swell. She looked more well spirited as days gone by and became prettier by the day.
“Miss, I’ve sent the invitation to the Lu’s and they had already confirmed their attendance,” said the butler.
The butler had no idea why their Young Miss made a point to send an invitation to the Lu family.
“Thank you, Uncle Jiang.” Ning Zhi had wanted to ask which of the Lu members would be attending and whether Lu Jue would be coming. But it would seem too obvious so she decided against it.
If Lu Jue didn’t come, she would just have to go look for him. She still needed another 17,000 little suns.
With the help of the butler, there weren’t much that Ning Zhi needed to be concerned about for the banquet. She spent every day with Old Mr. Ning, chatting and drinking tea with him. He, too, had become more well spirited and was smiling every day.
Perhaps he had been lonely for too long. As opposed to how solemn and quiet that he was in the past, Old Mr. Ning talked a lot now and would nag Ning Zhi from time to time as well.
Ning Zhi was showered with petty clothes and expensive jewelries. She was his only granddaughter, the little princess of the Ning’s. It was only natural to e on her.
