Tang Ning looked at the old monk who was about 60 years old. The old monk’s long white eyebrows were drooping. He was wearing a simple gray robe and had a string of Buddhist prayer beads around his neck, there was also a gourd hanging slanted at his waist. If not for the piece of chicken leg in his hands and the oil on his face, he did look like a celestial being.
However, Tang Ning thought that this monk looked rather out of place, or even unpleasant.
She endured the excruciating pain on her body and sat up on the bed. She leaned on the bed and said, “Don’t you monks always say saving a life is better than building a seven-storied pagoda? Why are you asking me for repayment then?”
“It’s different.” The old monk waved the chicken leg in his hand and looked at her meaningfully and continued. “You are different.”
“What’s different?” Tang Ning asked.
The old monk stared at her and suddenly began to laugh. He said, “Why did you shave your head bald? I thought that I picked back a little monk, but who knew it was a little girl.”
“I was forced due to the circumstances.”
Tang Ning looked at his oily face and could not help but asked, “Since you are a monk, why are you not obeying the rules? Unless you are a fake monk?”
“Hahahahaha.” The old monk laughed and took the gourd at his waist to drink a mouthful of wine from it before saying, “Wine and meat may pass through my body, but Buddha will still remain in my heart.”
The old monk finished the piece of chicken and held the bone in his mouth, freeing his hands. He searched his pockets and found a small bottle. He threw the bottle towards Tang Ning and said, “Eat one pill from this bottle.” He walked out as he spoke that.
Tang Ning poured out one pill. The pill was black and had a strong herb smell to it. It was made using the simplest and most direct method, rubbing herbs into the shape of a pill. However, based on the smell, she could tell that it was made of herbs that could treat her wounds.
After swallowing the pill, she softly sighed and closed her eyes. She recalled the holy Buddha light from that incident and remembered that the light seemed to have originated from the bowl.
Oh yes, where did the bowl go?
While she was pondering over the bowl, Tang Ning felt something on her hand. She raised her hand and was stunned at what she saw.
Isn’t this her bowl? She was very sure that it was not there on her hand just now.
She carefully looked at the bowl and knew that it was definitely her bowl. However, the bowl now had a golden swastika imprinted on its base.
Tang Ning was curious as she felt something happening. Her palm was faintly heating up, and then she saw a gold swastika appear on her palm, emitting a faint gold light. The heat on her palm started flowing through her body, and wherever the heat passed, Tang Ning could feel the wounds on her body gradually recovering.
“Eh?”
Tang Ning blinked and then sat up immediately. She could feel her body had become less tense, but the light glowing from the swastika on her palm had also faded away and eventually disappeared from her hand, without leaving any trace. It was as if the scene before was just her imagination.
As soon as she thought about it, the bowl on her hand disappeared again. She clenched her palm into a tight fist and could feel energy surging through her body.
“Is this considered as benefiting from misfortune?” She muttered to herself and could not help but laugh.
She took her pulse, and as expected, her body had recovered about 70 percent, and now she could feel the presence of a new type of energy in her body. The wounds on her body were gone, leaving no scars behind.
The next morning.
The old monk leaned against the window as he drank the wine from his gourd. He looked at the gorgeous little bald child and asked, “What are your plans now? Also, which family are you from? Can you still return to your family with this bald head?”
