Chapter 13: Feels Great To Have Someone Waiting

Before Mo Shen could reply, the assistant at the front felt amused—he wasn’t able to control his soft laughter.
In this world, questioning whether Mo Shen was a wealthy man, felt somewhat of a foolish endeavor.
Mo Shen’s eyes glanced towards the assistant coldly. Upon receiving the displeasure at the bottom of Mo Shen’s eyes, the assistant hurriedly subdued his laughter and didn’t dare to make the slightest movement.
Ye Mu glanced at the assistant in surprise, confused as to why he laughed. Looking towards Mo Shen again, she asked, “Is he your friend?”
“Two questions, which should I answer first?” When Mo Shen turned back to look at Ye Mu, his grim face softened.
“Whichever is fine,” Ye Mu replied without thinking.
Mo Shen nodded and answered Ye Mu’s question simply, “For the first question, every person has a different definition with regards to money. Therefore, you can consider me to be rich. Secondly, he’s not my friend, only an assistant.”
Mo Shen was more decisive than anyone, separating the relationship among these three areas—money, friends, and work.
Ye Mu’s eyes widened as she stared at Mo Shen, nodding her head. Did that mean that he really was very rich?
Returning to Hua Jing district, Mo Shen exited the car but he didn’t rush to get back into the mansion as he told Ye Mu, “You should go back first. I still need to drop by the company.”
“Okay.” Ye Mu got out of the car and conveniently closed the door for him before waving Mo Shen goodbye, “Have a safe trip.”
Without Ye Mu in the car, the assistant didn’t even dare to glance at Mo Shen once during the whole journey. He knew that Mo Shen was very critical; he was really afraid that his own boss would take his little mistake to heart.
The car had just stopped at the company entrance when a group of people came over to open the door. Not counting the special assistant and secretary, there was also a group of people holding some documents while waiting for Mo Shen’s arrival.
“Boss, should we continue with that Sheng Shui case this year?” Yan Qi inquired as he quickly followed in Mo Shen’s footsteps.
Mo Shen nodded, “There are still some benefits. Continue with it.”
Along the way, Mo Shen hastened his pace into the office. Yan Qi also walked into the room and handed over a magazine to him, “This magazine company wants to do an interview with Boss. Should we decline like we have in the past?”
“Refuse it,” Mo Shen’s reply was simple, without the slightest hesitation.
Yan Qi knew that Mo Shen didn’t like such things, so he stopped talking about it. Just as he was about to turn around and leave… he suddenly remembered a certain matter and he backtracked in a hurry, “By the way, Mr Ye Shanhu from HN is outside. Do you want to meet him?”
“Ye Shanhu?” Mo Shen raised his head to glance at Yan Qi. He lifted his slender fingers and stroked his chin before laughing softly in a slightly cold manner, “Only him?”
Yan Qi replied respectfully, “No, his youngest daughter is with him.”
“Dismiss him,” Mo Shen snorted coldly, returning his gaze to the documents, “In the future, there is no need to notify me of the Ye family. I won’t meet any of them.”
Yan Qi nodded and didn’t ask for any reason. He walked out of the office and went to the waiting room.
In the waiting room, Ye Qimeng’s heart pounded crazily against her chest as she sat on the chair with her pair of eyes sparkling with joy. Sitting beside her was Ye Shanhu who gave her strict advice, “When we enter, pay attention to your attitude. It’s best if you can attract his attention, but otherwise, it doesn’t matter.”
Who was Mo Shen?
Ye Shanhu was still aware of who he was. To be honest, he had originally arranged for his eldest daughter to approach Mo Shen, but Ye Qiyi was hell-bent on Gu Yiming. His second daughter was a taciturn young lass, so she was out of the question too.
As for his third daughter… she wasn’t as good as the two elder daughters, but she wasn’t lacking any of the loveliness and candor that her elder sisters had. Perhaps, Mo Shen’s interest was in this type of girls?
Ye Shanhu knew that if he had Mo Shen’s support along with the Gu family, the Ye family would have a meteoric rise, breaking into the upper echelons of society in the entire city.
However, Yan Qi pushed open the door of the waiting room and prematurely ended the delusions of the father-daughter duo, “My apologies. Our CEO Mo has something going on today. He will not be able to meet the two of you.”
“That can’t be!” Ye Qimeng who had been nervous and expectant all this while stood up abruptly. She obviously couldn’t believe what she just heard for she froze just like that.
Ye Shanhu couldn’t help but also frown. Could it be that even the Ye family’s prestige was not enough to meet Mo Shen even once?
“Did CEO Mo really say that?” he asked.
“Yes, please go back.” Yan Qi spoke coolly. He had been by Mo Shen’s side for so many years and knew his temperament very well—Mo Shen would not give this pair of father and daughter a chance.
Ye Shanhu’s expression suddenly looked a little ugly. Ye Qimeng raised her hand to pull on Ye Shanhu, wanting to say something when the latter spoke abruptly, “Sorry for the disturbance! Special Assistant Yan, please let CEO Mo know that I came by.”
“Dad…” Ye Qimeng opened her mouth; she was unwilling to leave just like this.
Ye Shanhu sighed and glared coldly at Ye Qimeng, “We’re going home!”
Even after seeing the father-daughter duo leave, Yan Qi did not enter Mo Shen’s office to report it. Mo Shen was extremely busy at work. After entering the office, he had been in an austere mode, rarely stopping the fountain pen—used for signatures—in his hand.
When it was almost evening, he had a meeting. By the end of the meeting, the sky had already turned completely dark and it was even later at night when he finally managed to return to Hua Jing district.
As Mo Shen put his hand on the doorknob to open the door, his hand movement slowed down for a few seconds. He looked at the ring on his own ring finger and a smile appeared on his face—his facial features were so handsome as if it was carved by a master.
Upon opening the door to the living room, he saw Ye Mu lying on the sofa, sleeping. The television in front of her was still playing and the remote control in her hand had fallen onto the floor some time ago.
Mo Shen’s footsteps stopped by the door, watching that peaceful Ye Mu without moving an inch.
However, under that frigid heart ignited a tiny fire all of a sudden, and that same fire melted a layer of the ice in his heart.
For the first time, he perceived that it felt that good to have someone waiting for him.
Mo Shen lightened his footsteps in his shiny leather shoes, bending his tall body in front of the sofa and his large hand gently smoothed away the hair that covered Ye Mu’s delicate features entirely.
The hand that she had placed on the side of the sofa twitched and collided against the coffee table.
“You’re back?” Ye Mu’s sleep was light, so she was quickly awakened by the collision, opening her bleary eyes to look at Mo Shen. The corners of her mouth curved up as she lazily sat up and stretched her waist before asking softly, “Have you eaten yet?”
Mo Shen didn’t speak.
He looked at her—enjoying how she spoke to him like this—as if it was a normal daily occurrence.
“Why aren’t you speaking? What are you looking at me for?” Ye Mu asked in confusion. She thought that there was something on her face and she awkwardly lifted her hand to rub her face a few times.
But Mo Shen shook his head. He pulled her hand off her face and smiled faintly, “Have you had dinner?”
