Chapter 15: Celebrating For Her

The director zoomed the camera closer and closer, giving Ye Mu a close-up shot of her own expression that was packed full of emotions. Ma Yongchun was fascinated; he admired actresses who could perform with their facial expressions alone.
“Good!” Quickly, Ma Yongchun called for a break. Inside, he was a little excited that this scene didn’t require him to shout ‘cut’ at all. He waved to Bai Xiao hurriedly to get her to go over, “Bai Xiao, let’s shoot the slap scene.”
Bai Xiao stood up from her seat smoothly and removed her sunglasses before walking over.
Her fair complexion was filled with emotions as she abruptly raised her palm and swung it through the air.
Ma Yongchun’s camera captured Bai Xiao’s image as he nodded his head, and signaled to Ye Mu to prepare. Ye Mu’s cheek leaned to the side, as though she had actually just been slapped by someone—her veins slightly showed on her cheek and her red lips quivered subtly.
“Ye Mu, clench your palms for a while.” The director reminded as he shifted the camera to focus on Ye Mu’s two hands drooping by her sides.
Ye Mu understood what was about to happen. She didn’t dare to be careless as her palm loosened, then tightened slightly at the next moment. She looked despondent and wronged, as though she had experienced plenty of grievances now, and in the past.
The camera shifted backwards to get a panoramic shot of both Ye Mu and Bai Xiao.
“From now on, we have settled our problems. Whether you hate or forgive me, I will not change my mind.” Ye Mu took in two deep breaths and smiled faintly at Bai Xiao as she became the true personification of Song Qiniang.
The director’s pair of eyes were abnormally focused as he watched Ye Mu while continuously nodding his head, “Excellent!”
When Ye Mu stopped shooting this scenario, Yang Feiyuan—who had appeared out of nowhere behind the director in his sunglasses—raised his hands to applaud.
Yang Feiyuan was this drama’s male lead, he was little more than thirty years old, and was completely of emperor-grade within the show business. As he clapped, there was no one at the set who didn’t applaud with him.
“Feiyuan, she’s not bad right?” Ma Yongchun lowered his voice and looked at Yang Feiyuan.
Expressionless, Yang Feiyuan’s eyes stared right at Ye Mu as he nodded satisfactorily, “My female co-actors should at least be this capable.”
Right after Ye Mu was done with her job, she bowed towards the staff members at the scene before walking over to Yang Feiyuan as she expressed her gratitude to him with a bow, “Thank you, Senior.”
“You’re welcome. You deserve the praise.” It was supposed to be a compliment but there was nary a smile on Yang Feiyuan’s face; his actions really did line up with his personality.
But such compliments were usually even more genuine and sincere than compliments given with smiles, especially when it was from Yang Feiyuan.
Ye Mu laughed lightly.
She didn’t have a lot of scenes today, so after a short rest, she wrapped up all of her remaining scenes then removed her make-up and planned to go home.
When Ye Mu was removing her make-up, Bai Xiao came into the room where she was. Bai Xiao returned her costume to the place where it belonged as she nodded towards Ye Mu’s direction.
Just as she was about to open the door and leave, she suddenly stopped in her tracks and spun around lightly on her high heels. Turning to look at Ye Mu, Bai Xiao spoke nonchalantly, “You made a good start today.”
Ye Mu was taken aback and she was just about to express her gratitude to Bai Xiao, when the latter crossed her arms in front of her chest and suddenly added, “I hope that you can continue being like this. I wish that you can keep being who you are and not let yourself be changed into someone who’s overly arrogant.”
“Thank you, Sister Bai Xiao. I will work hard,” Ye Mu politely replied. She treated Bai Xiao’s words as nothing but words of compliment.
Bai Xiao snorted disdainfully before she opened the door and walked out.
Today was her first day on the production team and it was already late in the afternoon when she got off the set, so she assumed that Mo Shen wouldn’t come to fetch her. She was about to take her phone out to call for a taxi when all of a sudden, a familiar car—clearly belonging to Mo Shen—stopped right in front of her.
He didn’t get out of the car as he raised his hand and left the door slightly ajar. With a smile, he gestured, “Get on.”
Ye Mu looked at Mo Shen in surprise; she bent her waist to take a clearer look at him behind the car window before asking, “How come you have the time to come and visit me at this hour?”
“Why? I can’t come to fetch you?” Mo Shen lifted an eyebrow and his smile grew gentler.
Ye Mu laughed playfully, pulled the door open, and sat inside. She put on her seatbelt and said, “Before going home, should we buy some groceries? There doesn’t seem to be anything in the fridge that we can eat.”
Mo Shen saw that Ye Mu hadn’t completely fastened her seatbelt, so he leaned over to her side and helped before responding, “Today is your first day working, so we’re eating out.”
“Eating out?” A spark flashed through Ye Mu’s eyes.
Actually, today was a really special day for her, so a celebration was indeed appropriate.
Mo Shen started the car, his thin lips maintained a smile throughout the journey. He seemed to have prepared everything for Ye Mu beforehand. Not long after the car left the set, it stopped at the most expensive Western-style restaurant in the city.
Staring at such a tall building, she couldn’t help but take a step backward in surprise, “We’re going to eat here?”
This manner of celebration seemed different from what she had in mind. In school, whenever she came across something worthy of a celebration—or someone’s birthday—she would always look for a small cafeteria to celebrate the occasion. When would she have come to such a place?
Mo Shen had already parked his car.
Walking over to Ye Mu, he extended his large hand to hers and gestured, “Let’s go in.”
“Maybe not. This place is too expensive,” Ye Mu bit her lips, switching from hesitation to affirmation.
Mo Shen coughed lightly, suppressing the smile on his face, “It’s already booked.”
Ye Mu’s eyes widened and she felt a little embarrassed, “Oh, okay.”
As she spoke, she extended her hand to Mo Shen and followed him in while clearly being apprehensive.
