Chapter 27: Little Sister-In-Law
Qin Xin’s mouth gaped open and he was unable to close it even after a long time. His gaze floated straight towards Mo Shen, “CEO Mo, today isn’t April Fool’s Day…”
“Hello,” Ye Mu spoke almost at the same time as Qin Xin. After hearing Qin Xin’s words, her expression became doubtful and she tilted her head to look at Mo Shen in question.
Mo Shen was undisturbed by Qin Xin’s words and was even slightly displeased. He didn’t let go of the hand clasping onto Ye Mu, and his tone was surprisingly serious, “I’m not joking with you, call her Sister-In-Law.”
“F*ck, this is too incredible,” Qin Xin couldn’t help swearing aloud after he received his confirmation. He had never thought that Mo Shen would get married before him and he even married this type of person.
Qin Xin stopped speaking and stared at Ye Mu carefully, afraid that she would misunderstand as he said hurriedly, “Little… Sister-In-Law, I’m not talking about you. Don’t take it to heart.”
Ye Mu nodded generously, “I didn’t take it to heart.”
“Don’t stand around. Sit down,” Mo Shen reminded as he looked at Qin Xin.
Ye Mu hurriedly spoke to Qin Xin courteously, “Please have a seat.”
Ye Mu was still somewhat embarrassed that Mo Shen’s friend came over to visit. After sitting for a short while, she entered the kitchen under the pretense of pouring tea.
“Is this little girl your girlfriend or wife? You have to make a clear distinction,” Qin Xin couldn’t help but ask as soon as Ye Mu left for the kitchen. Even now, he couldn’t quite accept the reality that Mo Shen was married.
Mo Shen’s fingertips stroked his thin lips lightly and he looked at him in certainty, “Wife.”
“Received your marriage certificate yet?”
“Mhmm.”
“God, this world is revolving backwards…” Extremely shocked, Qin Xin smacked his forehead with a hand and he leaned back on the sofa behind him.
Mo Shen didn’t have the liberty to marvel at Qin Xin’s shock, so he quickly started the discussion about the new project. The two of them were unexpectedly focused when it came to a discussion pertaining to work. Ye Mu lightly placed the tea that she had poured onto the table. Afraid that she might disturb them, she ran upstairs and left the two to talk about their work in private.
She took an afternoon nap upstairs so she didn’t know when Qin Xin left. By the time she woke up and came back down, Qin Xin wasn’t around anymore.
“Did you sleep well?” Mo Shen chuckled as he lifted his eyes to look at her as he drank his coffee.
Ye Mu laughed with some embarrassment and looked around her, “Did that friend leave already?”
Mo Shen nodded and put his coffee mug down, “He left already.”
Ye Mu stretched her waist and yawned. She sat on the sofa and questioned Mo Shen, “It’s time to change our toiletries, so I’m going to the supermarket. Do you want to come?”
“Let’s go,” Mo Shen said as he stood up immediately and lightly dusted off his clothes.
After 10 minutes, the couple appeared in the largest marketplace of the city. Ye Mu pushed the shopping cart and picked out every piece of item with care. Mo Shen stood at the back and watched her choose, occasionally making the decision for her when she asked him out of confusion.
Although she wanted to grab the toothbrush on a high shelf to have a look, the rack was simply too tall and she couldn’t reach it no matter how much she tip-toed. At this moment, Mo Shen took full advantage of his height to support her body and retrieve the item with a raise of his hand, “I’ll do it.”
Ye Mu backed away to the side and got out of his way.
Watching him get the toothbrush easily from the shelf, Ye Mu went into a daze for a moment. They seemed to be growing more like a married couple as time went on. This kind of lifestyle was what Ye Mu had always looked forward to. But now that it was in front of her eyes, she always felt like it wasn’t real.
Mo Shen threw the things she wanted into the shopping cart and extended his hand naturally, “Let’s go.”
Ye Mu smiled faintly and nodded her head, clasping his hand in return.
Today wasn’t the weekend, yet there were a lot of people in the supermarket. The two of them had originally thought of buying groceries for tonight and did not expect to bump into an acquaintance in the fresh food area.
Unlike her usual routine, Gu Yiming’s mother—Fang Moyu—had brought the servants out to buy some groceries today. As she was looking around, she continuously reminded them, “Try to pick some of Yichen’s favorites. It’s rare for him to return from abroad.”
While she was talking, Fang Moyu shifted her face and saw Ye Mu and Mo Shen walking over.
“Ye Mu?” Fang Moyu wrinkled her forehead, standing on the same spot without moving. It was only until Ye Mu neared her did she greet her with clear dissatisfaction on her face, “How coincidental. You’re here too.”
Ye Mu was slightly taken aback when she saw Fang Moyu’s expression, then she greeted indifferently, “Auntie.”
Fang Moyu’s eyes didn’t linger on Ye Mu for long, turning to look towards Mo Shen, “You’ve found a new boyfriend so quickly? When our Yiming was going to get engaged to your older cousin, I still felt slightly sorry but seeing this now, I guess there was no need for that at all.”
“There was no need, indeed.” Ye Mu did not feel embarrassed because of Fang Moyu’s comments but lifted her hand and looked straight at her, laughing, “Congratulations to you too, for getting a daughter-in-law you’re satisfied with.”
Fang Moyu took a deep breath and sneered coldly. Satisfied? It was obvious that she wasn’t satisfied with Ye Qiyi either. Fang Moyu was born of nobility and had always looked down on women who were in the entertainment industry. How could their family’s daughter-in-law be one of those women? As a result, she had opposed Gu Yiming and Ye Mu’s engagement. As for Gu Yiming marrying Ye Qiyi, she still wasn’t satisfied with it.
“I saw your commercial. In the end, you still entered this line of work.” Fang Moyu handed the basket in her hand to the servants behind her and spoke sarcastically, “They all say that actors are heartless. Today, it looks like this saying is right.”
As Fang Moyu talked, her eyes swept towards Mo Shen. It was extremely obvious what she was hinting at.
No matter what, Fang Moyu was her elder, so the words that she said out loud were unbearable to Ye Mu. Just as Ye Mu’s backed away subconsciously, Mo Shen’s hand steadied her shoulder, comforting her.
“Being heartless is better than being tactless. After taking possession of other people’s properties, you can still have the conviction to deride others for being heartless. Compared to this type of tactlessness, being heartless seems more generous.” Mo Shen raised his brow and looked thoughtfully at Fang Moyu. The air around him was able to consistently stun the other party with ease.
Mo Shen immediately hit Fang Moyu’s sore spot. Everyone who knew the ins and outs were aware that Gu Yiming had initially gotten engaged to Ye Mu for her family assets.
“Let us leave.” Mo Shen curved the corner of his lips coldly as he turned to leave while holding onto Ye Mu’s shoulder.
Ye Mu followed him, lifting her head to look at his side profile. She felt slightly strange. She had never told Mo Shen about her matters, so why did he seem to know everything?
Ye Mu simply couldn’t figure out this question.
At night, the two of them cooked a feast together and Mo Shen took out a bottle of red wine to celebrate on Ye Mu’s behalf.
Ye Mu held up the glass of red wine and clinked it with Mo Shen, then she asked a question that she had always been curious about, “Young Uncle… That, how do you seem to know everything about me?”
She lowered her wine glass slightly, her eyes became filled with curiosity as she stared at Mo Shen.
Mo Shen chuckled faintly and lightly sipped a mouthful of red wine; his calm voice seemed to be tainted with a hint of intoxication, “If you want to understand a person, or find out everything about her, it isn’t difficult at all.”
“It isn’t difficult…”Ye Mu repeated his words slowly. Her throat seemed to be stuffed with cotton, but there was a warm stream of heat in her chest.
His words became stuck in her heart, as though it was hiding some other meaning.
