Chapter 33: Model Husband
Leaving the house this time, Ye Mu really didn’t need to bother about anything. Even her mountaineering attire was all prepared by Mo Shen. Furthermore, all of the mountaineering clothes that Mo Shen had prepared, no matter the color or style, were the type that Ye Mu liked.
Ye Mu took a black jacket out from the pile—it made her look slim and fair. Not satisfied with choosing this for herself, she picked out another clothing of a similar style and color from the closet and strongly recommended it to Mo Shen, “Young Uncle, can you wear this one? I think that it suits you really well.”
As Mo Shen looked at the black mountaineering clothing—with printed cartoon characters—in Ye Mu’s hands, his expression slightly changed.
Although Ye Mu suited these cutesy styles, it didn’t mean that Mo Shen was suitable for them too.
“I’m fine with wearing this one on this side,” Mo Shen tactfully rejected Ye Mu’s suggestion and pointed towards a very standard mountaineering wear by the side.
Slightly disappointed, Ye Mu lowered her eyes. She really felt that the clothes in her hand looked better and mumbled softly, “But this is the couple version… I want to wear the same thing as Young Uncle…”
Her monologue sounded incredibly low as though she was practically humming her words.
But Mo Shen still heard it and warmth rose in his heart. Looking at the disappointed expression on Ye Mu’s face, Mo Shen’s heart wavered. After a while, he raised his hand to take the clothes in Ye Mu’s hands and stated, “I’ll try it on.”
Somewhat surprised, Ye Mu lifted her head blankly to look at Mo Shen. Then, she hurriedly nodded her head while smiling, “Mhmm, okay.”
For a man of Mo Shen’s type of stature and appearance, there probably wasn’t any clothing that he couldn’t pull off. When someone was exceptionally good-looking, whatever they wore would still make them look like a model.
He managed to refine the simple and slightly cutesy mountaineering wear into something that looked smart and athleisure in style. Wearing such clothes, he looked particularly attractive.
After Ye Mu and Mo Shen left, her eyes still hadn’t shifted away from the clothes on his body as she declared proudly, “Like I said, Young Uncle would definitely look great wearing this, right?”
Mo Shen shook his head in exasperation and extended his hand to Ye Mu, who had fallen behind a little. Still carrying a happy expression on her face, Ye Mu handed her hand over to Mo Shen.
Due to the similar mountaineering wear on both of them, they looked extremely compatible walking side by side.
At this moment, Ye Qiyi—who had just left the lobby while wearing sunglasses—was a little fretful and called out to Gu Yiming—whose hands were stuck in his pockets, “Hubby, let’s go now. I’m afraid of getting tanned when the sun rises.”
“Let’s wait a little more. I let the receptionist retrieve something from the room.” Compared to Ye Qiyi’s anxiety, Gu Yiming wasn’t the least bit perturbed. Seeing Ye Qiyi wrinkle her brow, he turned around and said, “I’ll go have a look.”
Ye Qiyi reluctantly watched Gu Yiming enter the room and the tenderness that was barely maintained on her face vanished. Reticence filled her expression. She was easily allergic to ultraviolet rays, so tanning in the sun for even a second longer could cause her to develop patchy rashes. That was why she thought of leaving and returning early; it was to avoid being tanned by the midday sun.
Ye Mu and Mo Shen walked out of their room talking and laughing, still chatting about last night’s television drama. Once Ye Mu started talking about this, she became especially interested.
Seeing Ye Mu and Mo Shen appear by accident, Gu Yiming unconsciously lifted the corner of his lips to laugh mockingly with a mix of fury, “The two of you are going mountain climbing too? What a coincidence?”
Yesterday, Ye Mu realized that Gu Yiming was also staying here, so she wasn’t surprised upon meeting him by accident. She only raised her eyes to glance at him before diverting her gaze to look at Mo Shen. Her hand—clasped in Mo Shen’s palm—tightened involuntarily.
Mo Shen could feel Ye Mu’s uneasiness from seeing Gu Yiming and he lowered his head to look at her before regarding Gu Yiming with a faint smile, “We are still rushing to leave, so we don’t have the time to exchange greetings with you.”
While speaking, Mo Shen half-embraced Ye Mu as he turned around and left.
From start to finish, Ye Mu quietly stayed in Mo Shen’s embrace and she didn’t say a word. She knew that she could wash her hands off of everything.
Gu Yiming gripped his fists tightly, still retaining that ice-cold smile on his face. He turned sideways to look at Ye Mu’s back profile. He didn’t believe that Ye Mu could ignore him entirely.
Previously, no matter the situation in which they parted, Ye Mu would definitely look at him once more within three seconds.
“One…” Both of Gu Yiming’s hands drew taut in his pockets, and his handsome features filled with expectation. Raising his head slightly, his expression carried confidence in relation to his understanding of Ye Mu, “Two…”
Ye Mu didn’t look back at all while walking with Mo Shen.
There was not even the slightest bit of movement.
The smile at the corner of Gu Yiming’s mouth couldn’t help but stiffen eventually. He couldn’t express that word ‘Three’ belatedly. He was giving Ye Mu a chance but until she completely disappeared from the lobby, she never turned back even once.
How could this be possible?
Gu Yiming’s self-esteem seemed to have been greatly insulted, causing his complexion to turn green involuntarily.
Now that Gu Yiming wasn’t in front of her, Ye Mu lightly sighed in relief. Perhaps, even she hadn’t expected that it would no longer hurt when she thought about Gu Yiming. She only wanted to avoid him and never meet him again.
After driving to the foot of the mountain, Ye Mu stood in front of the information board to scrutinize the scenic area’s warnings.
She pointed at the words on the top and asked Mo Shen, “This says that the temple on this mountain top is awfully effective at granting wishes. Let’s climb up and make a wish later, okay?”
“Are you sure that you can reach the top?” Mo Shen smiled in a somewhat disbelieving manner.
The mountain here was still rather high but fortunately, there were several cable cars. If she couldn’t climb up, they could hop onto the cable cars too.
Ye Mu’s eyes shifted from the board to Mo Shen’s person and nodded firmly, “Of course! Young Uncle shouldn’t look down on my stamina!”
Mo Shen nodded his head, instead of dampening Ye Mu’s enthusiasm. The two of them chatted while climbing the mountain. At the start, their journey was still very harmonious, but after climbing half the mountain, Ye Mu couldn’t help panting for breath and needed to rest on her knees after every two steps.
“Are you still alright?” Mo Shen stood still and asked Ye Mu out of concern.
Ye Mu wanted to shake her head but she also wanted to nod—she didn’t know what exactly she wanted to do anymore.
“Come here.” Mo Shen beckoned Ye Mu to come closer.
Ye Mu looked at him. Then, she dragged her exhausted body and walked over to him. Mo Shen bent down slightly in front of her and said, “Come up, I’ll carry you.”
“…” Ye Mu was taken aback. But she quickly shook her hands to refuse, “No, I can’t. You’re very tired too and there’s still half the route, I can’t possibly let you piggyback me…”
The smile on Mo Shen’s stern face was especially heartwarming as he spoke out loud, “Come up, the cable car isn’t far from here. We’ll sit in the cable car.”
Mo Shen’s actions had already attracted the attention of the people in their surroundings. Feeling apologetic, Ye Mu hopped onto Mo Shen’s back.
Mo Shen’s stamina seemed exceptionally good as even though both of them had climbed the same distance, Mo Shen’s breathing wasn’t the slightest bit heavy. There wasn’t any difference between carrying her or not. His pace was still quick and stable.
Watching the scenery from another person’s back looked particularly different and it seemed that by borrowing Mo Shen’s height, she could see more of the scenery.
Her chin pressed onto Mo Shen’s shoulder, while her cheeks flushed a little.
Her hands encircled his neck tightly.
“Take a look at her boyfriend? Since his girlfriend’s tired, he’s piggybacking her! Look at yourself again!” Not able to withhold herself, a girl who was trying to catch her breath on the side of the road pointed at Mo Shen while accusing her boyfriend out loud.
Beside the girl, her boyfriend wiped his perspiration before looking at his girlfriend as he spoke with great difficulty, “I can’t walk anymore either. How about we piggyback each other too? What do you think about piggybacking me?”
“Do you want to break up! B*stard!” The girl didn’t seem to like this type of joke and she immediately threatened out loud.
