Chapter 37: Do You Count As My Favorite Thing?
“It’s so unpalatable, let’s just throw it away.” Ye Mu sighed as she carried the plate of Mapo Tofu in her hands, wanting to throw it away
Mo Shen stopped her just in time. His hand covered the back of her hand as he said, “Since you’ve already cooked it. Let’s not waste it.
Ye Mu looked at the plate of food and took a deep breath, “It’s too spicy. You’ll definitely have an upset stomach after eating it.”
“I’ll just drink more water.” Mo Shen faintly smiled as he attempted to solve the problem for her.
“Who would drink water to forcefully eat something that will upset their stomach?” Ye Mu was amused by Mo Shen’s words. Her face beamed gently.
Mo Shen scanned the food on the table. He used his chopsticks and picked up food from another plate. Chewing carefully, he nodded his head, “This dish isn’t bad.”
Ye Mu didn’t believe his words, of course, so she put down the Mapo Tofu and used her chopsticks to pick up some food from the plate that Mo Shen was talking about. Her eyes widened as she chewed. This time, Mo Shen hadn’t lied to her. The taste wasn’t too bad.
“Young Uncle, eat more of this.”
Ye Mu didn’t forget to give Mo Shen his share of what she was eating.
Mo Shen gave Ye Mu all the control of the food that he was going to eat tonight. It was because his eyes were focused on Ye Mu throughout the meal, his gaze turning ever so slightly gentle as time passed by.
Mo Shen had noticed that the current Ye Mu was slightly different from the Ye Mu that he had met in the beginning. For example, Ye Mu’s current actions reflected her truest emotions.
Back then, she would often hide her true self as she worked hard to become someone that other people would like.
“Young Uncle…” Ye Mu took a few bites of her food before putting down her chopsticks. She looked onto the floor, avoiding Mo Shen’s gaze as she asked in a seemingly nonchalant manner, “Do you have something you particularly like?”
Mo Shen raised his eyebrow, and said half-jokingly, “Do you count?”
“Cough, cough, cough…”
Ye Mu looked up and saw Mo Shen’s half-serious and half-joking gaze, and she suddenly choked on nothing.
“Those words were so magical?” Mo Shen handed Ye Mu a paper towel and a glass of water as he looked at her in amusement.
Ye Mu waved her hand as she sipped some water and cleaned her lips with the paper towel that Mo Shen had handed over. It was only until all of these were over did she speak once more, “I’m… I’m talking about things… I’m not a thing, I’m…”
When her words fell, Ye Mu could feel that there was something wrong with her sentence.
A frown appeared on her face as she thought about what was wrong with what she had said.
But Mo Shen gave her the answer to her question as he chuckled upon hearing her say the words, ‘I’m not a thing’. Then, with a calm and steady voice, he teased, “Of course, my little wife isn’t a thing, you’re my darling.”
Ye Mu’s cheeks abruptly flushed. She had no idea why, but she would always feel that she was about to go out of control whenever she heard this man say such honeyed words.
“Then, is there anything you particularly like?” Ye Mu focused on this question.
Mo Shen shook his head, “No.”
He did not lack anything, so why would he like something he could easily get?
Ye Mu was slightly disappointed as she mumbled, “All right, then…”
Mo Shen wiped his lips clean with a napkin as he said, “I saw the news today.”
Ye Mu stared at him blankly. It took her awhile before she realized what he was talking about.
He was talking about her movie’s press conference today!
Ye Mu smiled slightly, “That was the first time I faced so many people from the media. I’m not sure if I did too well.”
Ye Mu could say these words for she felt that she was indeed too nervous when facing those people.
“No, you did well.” Mo Shen replied in a straightforward manner.
After receiving his praise, Ye Mu’s worries seemed to have fairly dissipated as she said, “The shooting would start tomorrow, and I might be very busy during this period of time.”
Ye Mu felt apologetic. It was because she knew that once they got busy, she might have to stay out of town for a few days for the filming.
“Remember to send me a copy of your itinerary. After you’re done with your work, I will pick you up,” Mo Shen said.
Ye Mu quickly refused, “You don’t have to do that! I can return along with the others after work.”
“It’s not safe for a girl to go home so late. It would be better to have someone familiar pick you up.” Mo Shen looked particularly insistent about this matter.
Mo Shen was her husband.
One way or another, she would have to get used to his presence. As a result, she nodded her head and agreed to his arrangements.
Ye Mu had told Mo Shen that they would get busy when the shooting started. But she hadn’t expected that the filming would start so soon. The next morning, she filmed the scene of leaving home in Lin City.
In the afternoon, she rushed to Nan Zhou to film a scene in one of the universities.
What’s worse was that the production team didn’t completely inform Ye Mu about what was to happen in advance.
When she was done filming some of her scenes, Ye Mu got into the production team’s van as she gave Mo Shen a call, informing him of her current situation.
She had no idea how long she was going to be following the production team specifically. But a conservative estimate would be about ten days, and in a worst-case scenario, at least half a month. Fortunately, the scenes were mainly filmed on campuses.
A scenery that was still somewhat familiar to Ye Mu.
At this moment, Mo Shen was listening to her words and he went silent for a few seconds before he responded, “All right, I understand. Take care of yourself there, and make sure to take sufficient breaks.”
After that, Mo Shen hung up.
All the executives in the meeting curiously looked at Mo Shen.
It has to be known that Mo Shen always disliked receiving calls during a meeting the most.
This was why whenever he was in a meeting, Mo Shen would never answer a phone call. No matter who it was or how important the phone call was, he would never answer it if he was in a meeting.
However, not only did he answer a phone call during the meeting today. His tone of voice was also as gentle as the spring breeze. The executives couldn’t help but guess in their hearts as to who exactly was the woman on the other side of the line.
“Where are we again? Let’s continue.”
Mo Shen quickly adjusted his mind back to the discussion.
The executives gathered in the room dispelled the thoughts they had in their hearts just now as they proceeded to concentrate on the meeting.
