Mr. Jones saw through Claire’s confusion. “Miss, Mr. Kens never rides in the same car with someone else.”
‘What kind of quirk was that?’
After giving it some thought, Claire gracefully nodded and said, “I understand.”
She then got into the car behind Asher’s, and it was Mr. Jones who drove.
Claire was in the backseat as she looked out the window. Only then did her brain slowly begin to function normally, without the influence of Asher’s oppressive demeanor.
Asher finally came to see her, and he even said to give her a gift personally. What would the gift be?
Claire felt that Asher would never be someone to prepare a gift for her in the first place.
The reason was simply that she was not someone he cared about.
If he even cared at all, he would not let her be all these years.
He even told the butler to bring along all her personal documents… What were they for?
Claire could not figure anything out at all. When the car finally pulled to a stop, Mr. Jones looked at her through the rear-view mirror.
“Miss, we’re here. You can get down the car now. Mr. Kens is already waiting for you.”
“Sure. Thank you.”
Claire got out of the car and saw Asher standing by the side of the road.
His expression remained indifferent, and he had a charm around him that just could not be ignored.
Claire was just about to walk up to him when a woman took a step ahead of her and walked toward Asher. They were both standing extremely close to each other.
Asher threw the woman a cold glance and spoke first.
Claire was frozen on the spot.
After exchanging a few words, Asher turned around and left. The woman quickly followed behind.
Claire then saw Asher and the woman who popped out of nowhere walk into the Bureau of Civil Affairs together.
‘My gosh! Bureau of Civil Affairs…’
Claire suddenly realized that Asher had brought her to the bureau of civil affairs. She was just blindly following him, and she did not expect him to bring her here.
Shocked came over Claire like a strike of thunder.
Why did Asher go to the Bureau of Civil Affairs with that woman? Was it to register their marriage? Or to divorce her? They did not look like they were going for either one of those options.
Claire never knew that Asher was married. However, if they were going to register their marriage, then that woman must be someone Asher liked. Yet if he liked that woman, why would he still treat her so coldly?
The way Asher looked at that woman was even colder than how he looked at Claire.
Claire suddenly felt that she did not have enough IQ for this.
She decided… to follow them.
Just then, Mr. Jones came over to her and said, “Miss, please follow me.”
“Are we going to the Bureau of Civil Affairs?” Claire pointed.
“Yes.”
“Mr. Jones, are you sure… you want me to go in?” Claire pointed at herself instead.
“I’m sure. Miss.”
Just like that, Claire walked into the Bureau of Civil Affairs with confusion.
It was already evening and it was almost time where people got off work. The bureau was almost empty.
Claire looked particularly dazzling as she stood in the bureau.
After a while, she saw Asher and the woman walking out from the divorce register. Both of them were holding a green booklet.
It was the divorce certificate.
Claire was dumbfounded once again. Asher… was already married?
She saw Asher casually handing the green booklet to Mr. Jones and he threw her a glance. “Claire, come here.”
She obediently went over.
Just as Claire reached him, the woman said shrilly, “Asher Kens, just what exactly is wrong with me? I’m Susan Mills! You suggested for us to get a divorce yesterday, and you did it today.. How could you be so cruel and heartless?”
