Chapter 600: Chapter 600: Controlling the Situation
When Li Yao spotted that female thief, he had already decided to stir up trouble, making the ogres and gamers duke it out to mutual destruction.
Li Yao considered himself neither a saint nor a villain. He wouldn’t harm others without reason.
The key problem was that those thieves were just too despicable, always resorting to underhanded tactics because they knew how to stealth.
If it wasn’t for Li Yao, the other players would probably be victimized, especially with a horde of five thieves roving around, stripping even the gleaming master players bare.
When Li Yao encountered such scumbags, he would outscumbag them, making them wish they had never been born. He wouldn’t be content unless he’d cleared their corpses at least five or six times.
However, due to time constraints, Li Yao could only manage to kill them once.
Li Yao knew the behavior of scumbags in clans and guilds all too well — if their robbery failed and they were killed, they would never admit it was their own fault, instead seeking revenge.
If the opponents were casual players, it would be easy — just bully them to death. But if they were from a large guild, a compromise might be necessary.
Although Li Yao didn’t take these matters too seriously, upon seeing such lowlifes, he felt the need to teach them a lesson.
“Gosh, they are a bunch of weaklings. They can’t even handle fifty ogres.”
Li Yao initially planned to watch the show till the end, and snatch their loot after the final fight, but it seemed he had overestimated these players.
Though they managed to block the initial onslaught of ogres, their defense lines gradually started collapsing with time.
Members of the guild began to regret their overconfidence. They thought they could easily vanquish fifty ogres, but things didn’t go as planned.
The power of ogre attacks was overwhelming. They were only level 21 or 22, barely able to fight against Level 25 ogres or higher.
“What the hell are the healers doing?! Heal me!” One tank who failed to block an attack took a massive hit and his health dropped significantly.
“Dammit, you failed to block and you blame…” the sister responsible for healing him cursed angrily, but before she could finish her sentence, the tank was killed by another attack and collapsed on the field.
“Shut up, all of you. No arguing. Only members of captain’s rank and above are allowed to talk.” Night Dance Overlord stated coldly.
“I’m only expressing my opinion. The healer for me is so lame. She is not just ugly, but also arrogant. She heals me carelessly. I wouldn’t have died otherwise.” The tank argued defiantly.
The healing sister blew her top: “Damn you, do you think healing is easy? It’s your lack of skill that’s the problem. You can’t even block an attack and lose all your health in an instant. Then when you’re down, you blame me? Do you think I’m eager to heal you? You’re a creepy man that takes advantage of me.”
“Let’s not mix things up. If you were able to predict a little better, I wouldn’t be dead.” The tank shot back, though his voice quivered a bit.
“Enough! Do you consider my words as the wind passing by your ears? Continue arguing and I’ll dock a month’s salary.” Night Dance Overlord was getting a headache.
He was also annoyed. The elite team of their newly formed guild was aiming to fork progress rapidly. This led to the recruitment of experts from all over.
They had even spent a hefty price on name change cards. The team was indeed composed of elites and experts, mastering general elite silver fights with ease.
Even if they encountered regular bosses, they could put up a good fight. After this period of coordination, he was initially rather pleased.
However, facing real difficulties, all kinds of internal conflicts surfaced. Mistakes were inevitable, but these players simply didn’t trust each other. Particularly since half the team was women – an enviable situation, but also one full of conflict.
Ordinary fights didn’t reveal these issues, as they were all experts. But in situations where a failure means death, contradictions surfaced and finger-pointing began.
This resulted in an already irritable team becoming increasingly volatile. As the team commander, Night Dance Overlord couldn’t stand it.
He didn’t want to be like this. After all, he hadn’t established any authority or prestige yet, and had to resort to threatening to dock wages.
Li Yao also noticed that this team must have been newly formed, as signs of collapse were evident.
“Their techniques aren’t too bad, but their coordination needs some work. And it seems like there are some internal disagreements.” Li Yao’s sharp eyes discerned the root cause: “No, the ogres are too many. It would be so boring if you all died like this. Anyway, I have nothing better to do, might as well have some fun with you.”
Li Yao looked around and found a suitable place to set up his sniper rifle. The recoil of this rifle was so massive that he wouldn’t be able to bear it without establishing a position first.
With the gunfire, the ogre about to break through the front lines was dispatched with three shots to the head.
The team members were suddenly spurred on. After all, they now had a super-powered player helping them, enabling them to stabilize their defense line.
However, the gunshots weren’t continuous. The mysterious attacker only opened fire when their defense was about to collapse. The five thieves in the team understood what was happening, their expressions turning grim.
By the way he was killing the ogres, they deduced who was hiding in the dark. Didn’t they just rob him and have an intense fight with him in broad daylight? And he was still coming to their rescue?
The thieves immediately shared their guess with the others.
Team leader Night Dance Overlord’s face grimaced: “Are you sure it’s the same person?”
“Do you, the team leader, think there is anyone else who can kill a Warcraft with three shots?”
The thieves nodded, giving an affirmative response.
“Damn it.” Night Dance Overlord was momentarily stunned. He finally understood why the ogres had initiated an unprovoked attack on them.
Moreover, the mysterious attacker only intervened when their team was on the verge of collapse. If Prairie Fire had been fighting all along, the remaining ogres would probably have been annihilated by now.
But the current situation was that while the ogres were being whittled down, his team members were suffering even greater losses.
“Prairie Fire, you are hailed as the King of Hunters, but I didn’t expect you to resort to such underhanded tactics. It is truly contemptible.” Night Dance Overlord’s anger flared as he saw his team members dwindling.
Li Yao wasn’t surprised that they had figured out his identity. He said lightly: “There is a saying I live by — if no one harms me, I harm no one, if someone harms me, I return it tenfold.”
Members of Night Dance’s team were incensed, but when they followed the sound, they couldn’t see anyone.
“You lack the decency and honor of an expert.” Night Dance Overlord taunted, “So cowardly. Aren’t you afraid of me posting this video online?”
Li Yao scoffed, responding, “That would be great. If I do it myself, people might think I’m self-promoting. If you’re dealing with lowlifes, you have to use lowly tactics. Or else wouldn’t it make you guys too comfortable?”
