MMORPG: Divine Mech Hunter - Chapter 617
Chapter 617: Chapter 617: Dragon Seed
“It’s up to you now.” said Instant Youth, already stepping through the portal.
As the group entered, the portal dissipated completely. Their previous monster-killing adventures instilled great faith in Li Yao, they knew no obstacle could stop him now.
Inside was a mine tunnel. The immense body of a spider tank was blocking most of the passage, preventing any spider from getting through. The freshly hatched spiders were nothing more than average silver-grade monsters, posing no real difficulty for the group.
Therefore, their journey was quite relaxed, almost like outside.
“This has been too easy. We tried three times before. Those spiders couldn’t stop us, but they were too time-consuming. It was already a good night if we could encounter the boss. I didn’t expect us to get this far in just half an hour.” Little Raindrop excitedly announced.
A thought occurred to Li Yao, and he asked, “Was this mission triggered by you?”
Little Raindrop, known for completing mission guides in her previous life, was deeply passionate about researching various missions, many of which her strategies came from a young maiden she knew even now.
“No, it was triggered by my sister’s guild.” Little Raindrop said modestly, “I just have an interest in missions, so I asked them to share any interesting ones with me. This mission was so complicated to start that nobody in the guild wanted to do it. They gave it to me, and I spent a lot of time on it. Eventually, when they saw the rewards, they started to accept it, but none of them completed it.”
Understanding, Li Yao replied, “Your keenness is admirable. This isn’t a simple mission. The magician who gave it to you must have been high-ranking, right?”
Little Raindrop nodded and said, “Yes, a very beautiful Elf Magician.”
Instant Youth furrowed her brow, asking, “How could you tell?”
While attacking the oncoming monsters, Li Yao turned to the wall next to him and said, “Look, turn the corner and see these runes.”
Instant Youth and Li Jia were a bit confused, but Little Raindrop exclaimed in surprise, “Yes, I didn’t notice. These seem to be ancient runes. After the Cataclysm, the laws of magic changed and it became extremely difficult to use ancient runes, leading to a reform, which caused the modern runes.”
“Not bad, this is what it means to research a mission.” Li Yao said, “Can you recognize these runes?”
“I don’t really know, it’s just a rough understanding. Does it have something to do with this instance?” Little Raindrop asked curiously.
Li Yao nodded and said, “I can’t be sure, but this is a clue.”
Instant Youth was immediately intrigued. Others might think that Li Yao is just lucky, but she believed every successful person had strengths that others couldn’t match. Now that Li Yao was taking this seriously, there was clearly a connection.
“So, what did you find out?” she couldn’t help asking.
Li Yao replied, “You should know that even among the High Elves, very few understand ancient runes. As for the Ancient Elves, they reject magic, so none of them can use them. And the Magicians of other races all originate from the High Elves. This mine should have been a mining site for a certain mineral of the High Elves thousands of years ago. It was abandoned, but someone has strengthened it with reinforcement runes. It seems that the Magician who issued this mission isn’t ordinary.”
“So it’s like that. I have to get more books from the library then,” Little Raindrop’s eyes sparkled at Li Yao’s words. “See, sis, I told you reading books is useful, but you wouldn’t let me.”
Li Yao was taken aback, “You’ve actually obtained borrowing privileges already.”
Books on magic were not like ordinary books; deciphering them was not a simple task.
“Yes, I completed a mission in the library and a kind older sister rewarded me,” Little Raindrop happily explained. “So what’s the use of knowing all this?”
“I don’t know yet. We’ll have to see after meeting the boss. It may not be useful.” Li Yao shook his head. Understanding these kinds of things was sometimes extremely important as it could reveal many personal clues. But at times, they were completely useless and could lead one astray, “What I want to say is, the Magician who gave you this mission must’ve had a high status among the High Elves, make sure to grasp the opportunity to gain a good impression.”
Little Raindrop hastily nodded.
“We’re here, just around the corner is the boss.” said Li Jia. “This boss is too powerful, we can’t defeat it.”
What lay before their eyes was a massive cave. Around the hall were six pillars emitting a cold magical turmoil. At the top of each pillar, a beam of blue light shot into the body of the boss at the center.
The boss was an unsightly sight, its body covered in oily, snake-like scales. Its two arms were like those of a primitive dragon, tipped with dragon claws. Its wings seemed to function as appendages, supporting its body.
The head was extremely ugly, resembling an insect. Instead of a nose and eyes, it had a mouthparts surrounded by sharp teeth.
Behind it was a tail, its tip stuck to the ground like a suction cup.
Electric arcs flickered around the boss, making it seem like a statue in hibernation.
“It turns out to be a Mother Thunder Dragon.” Li Yao squinted slightly.
“You recognize this type of boss, that’s impressive.” Instant Youth was surprised that Li Yao was able to name the boss on the spot.
“The Mother Thunder Dragon, a subdragon species, fond of living in magic-rich caves. They are said to be the offspring of Giant Dragons and Hell-devouring Heavenly Insects, possessing powerful electrical attributes. Its scales are exceptionally fine, making it difficult to deal with.” Li Yao had already detected the enemy’s attributes.
Sleeping Mother-Dragon Pupil
Rank: Level 30 Warcraft Boss
Health: 2.25 million
Armor: Snake Scales
Skills: Lightning Strike, Thunder Drop, Electric Shock, Lightning Breath, Chaotic Current
Instant Youth’s eyes flickered with helplessness, “This boss is too difficult. It’s level 30, but to enter this instance, players’ average level can’t exceed 25. If there are level 26 players, there needs to be someone below level 25 to enter. Moreover, a Warcraft-level is equivalent to a regular boss-level monster. This being a boss among the Warcraft, it’s nearly impossible.”
Little Raindrop added, “Yes, according to my analysis, this simple instance shouldn’t have such a powerful boss. There must be some kind of mistake somewhere.”
Instead of replying right away, Li Yao continued to circle the hall. After a while, he finally said, “Little Raindrop’s speculation is correct. According to the level of this instance, this boss is too strong. It’s not a boss that players at this stage can defeat.”
Instant Youth was taken aback, “So can you not do it either?”
Li Yao shook his head, “You saw the High Priest outside, right? He is a junior Warcraft-level boss. Not even with the fusion with the God of Nightmares’ consciousness can his power reach a mid-tier Warcraft-level boss. You’ve seen the power of the High Priest. Could anyone defeat a stronger mid-tier Warcraft boss? Moreover, this boss is still a sub-dragon, which adds to the difficulty.”
Instant Youth was silent. They had tried many times and were only able to reduce the boss’s health by 15% at most – this was already the limit…
