Chapter 618: Chapter 618: Battle
“I think your spider tank and pet should be able to hold up,” Little Raindrop observed, her eyebrows furrowing.
The other two girls nodded in agreement. They saw the pets Li Yao had as more formidable than any squad they had previously formed. The spacious hall provided ample room for Li Yao to summon his Hydra pets and with such support, they could have a chance at victory.
Li Yao chuckled bitterly. “You underestimate the Warcraft bosses. If they were so easy to vanquish, the three factions wouldn’t be disputing about territories so fiercely.”
“What do you mean, Brother? I don’t understand,” Li Jia asked, curiosity evident in her words.
“You all must be aware that The Ancient God World is vast beyond limits. Unknown numbers of maps are occupied by all kinds of monsters. Many areas remain unexplored by the three factions. Yet, for the territories they currently possess, they are eager to fight.” Li Yao continued, “To defeat even a single Centaur requires the united strength of the three factions. The Warcraft is too strong. The leaders of the factions are formidable but their subordinates pale in comparison to the Warcraft. Advancing in the territories is difficult indeed.”
“Now that you mention it, I understand. The territories currently controlled by the three factions are of very low levels. The higher the level of the territory, the less control the factions have. Furthermore, the three factions hold each other back. Even if one faction could take control of a territory, the other factions would inevitably seize the opportunity to strike.” Flash of an Instant sighed, “I see, I have not truly grasped the intricacies of this world. I have much to learn.”
“After all, it’s a game. Maybe I’m just too immersed in it.” Li Yao shook his head and continued, “My pets are undeniably strong, but the higher the level of the Warcraft, the more formidable they are. Pulling off a mass-kill is nearly impossible.”
Li Yao was well aware that in the later stages, ordinary creatures merely constituted the lowest level within the food chain. In The Ancient God World, the real masters were not the ancient gods, the giant dragons, nor the three factions, but the various Warcraft. However, their limited wisdom and geographical dispersion prevented them from consolidating power.
Each area of the high-level map was dominated by high-level Warcraft.
Especially in the Neutral Continent, due to the baptism of the war between heaven and hell, the will of the two ancient gods dissipated. The world appeared to be reborn. The continent was riddled with ruthless beasts, and players from the neutral faction can only survive in so-called shelters.
“So what should we do now, give up?” Flash of an Instant also seemed troubled. They had invested a lot of time and energy in this mission and the reward was rather tempting. As far as she knew, guilds possessing a guild altar were rare, and acquiring such an altar would inevitably provide the guild with significant advantages and support.
Li Yao smiled and responded, “How could we give up? The more we understand, the greater our chances of success. Haven’t you noticed this Array? It’s critical for us to pass this level.”
“You recognize this Array?” Little Raindrop asked excitedly.
“Yes, this is an Eternal Array,” Li Yao answered without waiting for them to ask. “These spiders could have been multiplying here for so long, but this Electric Dragon has only a typical lifespan of around five hundred years. Even the formidable ones could not live for more than a thousand years, which hardly matches the lifespan of a High Elf. This dungeon has only one Electric Dragon that has existed here for ten thousand years. Without the maintenance of this Eternal Array, what do you think would happen to this dragon?”
“Well, since you figured it out, why don’t you just solve it?” Flash of an Instant sighed in relief, determination firming in her eyes. She decided she needed to read more about these books when they returned.
Faced with such situations, they were completely in the dark. The elite members of their guild sustained massive losses here, whereas Li Yao understood it instantly. The contrast was blatantly evident.
“Little Raindrop, you have some Magic Mirror Powder with you, right? Give me some.”
To break the Array, brute force was not the best solution. Moreover, their current strength was incapable of causing any damage to the Array.
“Uh, okay,” Little Raindrop handed Li Yao the Magic Mirror Powder, and then scurried off to set up the Array under Li Yao’s guidance, looking every bit the eager apprentice.
Flash of an Instant and Li Jia could only wait and watch, resigned smiles on their faces.
As the light flashed, the six rays dimmed, and the Electric Dragon let out a painful roar.
“Did you create an Array too?” Suppressing her shock, Flash of an Instant asked, “What does this Array do?”
Li Yao shook his head and clarified, “What can you possibly arrange with Magic Mirror Powder? I just used Magic Mirror Powder to disrupt the nodes. The Eternal Array, after operating for ten thousand years, has become very fragile. As for its function, once the Array is deactivated, the Electric Dragon will become weak. After ten thousand years, it has become highly dependent on this Array.”
As Li Yao spoke, the level of the Electric Dragon rapidly weakened from a mid-level boss to the silver elite level. The Dragon’s level also decreased to twenty-five.
“It really worked!” Little Raindrop exclaimed, excitement clear on her face. “Ah, the guild has lost so many members. So this was the way to pass the level.”
“If we were stronger, defeating the earlier boss would have yielded better rewards. What a pity,” expressed Li Yao. With his current strength and given the closed space, killing a mid-level Warcraft boss was almost impossible.
Roar…
The Array finally stopped operating. The Electric Dragon spotted them and let out a roar that shook the heavens.
At the sound of the roar, they instinctively covered their ears as their health rapidly depleted.
Visible sound waves harshly assaulted their bodies. Three seconds later, the roar stopped, but they had lost nearly a third of their health.
Flash of an Instant quickly started restoring their health as Li Yao commanded the Spider tank to charge at the Electric Dragon.
Their assault began, and a fierce battle ensued.
“Even as a Silver Elite, its sonic attack is so powerful. It’s truly perverse,” Little Raindrop sighed as she summoned spirits to join the attack.
“Cast a shield on Little Raindrop.” Li Yao swiftly instructed, “Little Raindrop, keep moving!”
“Okay, okay,” Little Raindrop, who had been continuously launching soul arrows, began moving around as a Holy Light Shield appeared around her.
Fallen Lightning!
A blue lightning bolt fell directly on Little Raindrop, smashing her Holy Light Shield to pieces.
Little Raindrop had already moved from her original location, where more lightning bolts quickly fell, turning the ground pitch black.
The Electric Dragon flung the Spider Tank aside with its head and suddenly leapt into the air.
Its body dashed towards Li Jia like a flash of lightning. As a Magician, Li Jia didn’t have any teleportation abilities to avoid the massive dragon.
Li Yao’s eyes glowed as he pulled the trigger, sending a red bullet hurtling out…
