Tian Kuang wanted Xiao Ling to protect Tian Xin. Xiao Ling understood what he meant. “Understood.”
Tian Kuang turned to Tian Fei now, and said, “It’s cramped in here. I think it’s better not to use AoE spells, we don’t want to hit our own members. You’ll be in charge of damage output, take out as many as you can.” Tian Fei’s AoE spell Meteor Fire attacked indiscriminately. It would be a huge loss if they hit their own party members. However, a Destruction Warlock’s single-target spells were not to be underestimated, either.
Tian Kuang seemed to be deep in thought. He looked at his own staff which was glowing faintly in dark golden. The appearance of this staff was extremely ordinary. Only the blue magic crystal on its tip which pulsed with a faint glow, like an eye peeking about at its surroundings, made it look different.
From the outside, it was definitely an extremely ordinary staff. Tian Kuang was the only one who knew how special it was.
It was not without reason that Tian Kuang and the others were given special treatment in the second largest guild of the Angelic Alliance, Dragon Flame, despite their low levels. It was partly due to their operation skills, and the skills of Tian Fei, Tian Xin, and Lin Fei. The main reason was because of Tian Kuang. It was thanks to Tian Kuang that the others had been given preferential treatment, and the guild was determined to retain them as members.
Tian Kuang hesitated. He wondered if he should tell Xiao Ling about this. Although he believed in Xiao Ling’s character, there was no guarantee that Xiao Ling would stay on as a party member after this. Friendship had to be built with the flow of time. Tian Kuang could not find it in himself to trust Xiao Ling completely.
Not everyone was worthy of unconditional trust. Everybody would have a secret or two that they would rather keep. This was the case with Xiao Ling, and so it was with Tian Kuang.
Six Boars were charging toward them. They were merely behaving atrociously. When they saw the humans in their cave, they roared and charged at the intruders.
Xiao Ling and the others stood in the best positions they could find.
As the Boars drew nearer, Tian Xin prepared to case his Ring of Frost. He was gripping his azure staff tightly. He could not cast his Ring of Frost too early, nor could he be too late.
Veins popped on his arms. With the drumming sounds of the Boars’ hooves on the cave floor, Tian Xin’s chest tightened. He forced his breathing to slow down in a bid to calm himself. He calculated the distance between himself and the Boars.
A miss would mean a failure and being wiped. For a party member, there was no room for mistakes! This was because a single person’s mistake would drag the entire team into the quagmire of death.
Xiao Ling kept an eye on Tian Xin’s condition. If Tian Xin could not cast his Ring of Frost in time, he would have to cast his Ring of Repellent as a countermeasure.
Six Boars, all within range! Tian Xin gave a loud shout.
Ring of Frost!
Icicles emerged from the floor, covering it in countless ice crystals. A chill instantly filled the mine. The dim light in the mine was refracted by the translucent icicles, and the mine was now illuminated with bright, colorful radiance.
The icicles charged toward the six Boars. One, two… six. Every single monster was covered in ice!
Xiao Ling praised him inwardly. Tian Xin had great timing. All six Boars were now frozen. It should be known that the Boars had been charging at high speed. Tian Xin was only left with a few seconds to react. It was not easy for Tian Xin to freeze all of them.
Lin Fei gave the signal to attack. A Rogue’s melee combo landed on one of the Boars like a raging tide. The Boar which Lin Fei struck became the target for the others. A series of spells rained down on it.
In 10 seconds, the Boar wailed. It fell to the ground under their combined attacks.
The icicles on the other Boars shattered. They had broken free of the control. Lin Fei moved forward and hit a Boar with Sap. Tian Xin managed to control another Boar with his Creeping Frost.
Destruction Warlocks were weaker in controlling monsters. Xiao Ling’s controlling abilities were not very applicable under such conditions, either. However, this did not mean that they could take it easy. Xiao Ling and Tian Fei increased their damage output on one of the Boars.
Xiao Ling was surprised to see that the Boar which he and Tian Fei attacked did not charge toward them. Instead, it stood rooted to the ground. The two remaining Boars were also paralyzed.
At this moment, Tian Kuang’s staff was emitting a scorching and vague black radiance. It was emitting shadow power! This was a rare Shadow Priest magic Tian Kuang learned, Binding Bier! He controlled the other three Boars, making them unable to move.
The black radiance shone on Tian Kuang’s face, casting it in a mysterious yet stately glow.
‘Were Shadow Priests always this powerful?’ Shadows Priests should have been skilled in curses and not control. Yet, the controlling ability of this spell surprised Xiao Ling.
Levels aside, Tian Kuang might just be the most powerful Shadow Priest Xiao Ling had ever met. The Shadow Priest’s in Brakada Arena did not have much strength nor the results to prove otherwise. Xiao Ling had thought that Shadow Priests were weak.
There was a saying that went “there is no weakest class, only the weakest player”. It seemed that the saying was founded on reason.
It was easier handling the monsters after that. Tian Fei and Xiao Ling did short work of a Boar. They had the highest damage output among the five of them. Killing a Boar in such safe, controlled conditions was a piece of cake. They dealt with the remaining Boars once they were done with their targets. A short while later, six Boar corpses lay on the floor.
Tian Kuang was panting slightly. He looked at his empty mana bar. If it had taken them a while longer, he would not have been able to maintain his spell. Although Binding Bier was powerful, it consumed a lot of mana. It took a huge chunk of mana every second the spell was maintained. Once his mana ran out, the control would be undone. Also, the caster would not be able to launch any attacks while the spell was cast. Hence, this was a spell that could only be used when working together with a team, otherwise it would be meaningless. Also, as the only healer in the party, Tian Kuang had to consider his party members’ safety. If he was not convinced that there was no danger, Tian Kuang would never use Binding Bier.
