Chapter 14: The Heartwarming IQ of Mother and Son

Chu Jingmo went to Happy Kindergarten in the afternoon. He remembered that it was the kindergarten the little boy had mentioned.
This kindergarten was affiliated with Atlas University. You couldn’t enter it just because you had money. Most of the people living nearby were faculty members of Atlas University, so the children’s parents were either teaching or working at Atlas University.
Not everyone could enter such a first-class academy in the country.
Chu Jingmo sat in the car and kept looking at the entrance. Li Chuan really couldn’t sit still anymore. He turned around and looked at Chu Jingmo. “Why don’t we go in and look for him?”
“It’s fine.” Chu Jingmo kept looking at the school gate. That little boy looked as brainless as his mother. It was definitely not a coincidence that he could seek him out so suddenly.
“Ah-choo!” Little Rice Bun sneezed suddenly.
Little Rice Ball looked at his brother. Little Rice Bun carelessly rubbed his little nose. “Mommy must be thinking of me.”
Little Rice Ball sat beside his brother and helped him with the toy. After handing it to his brother, he got up and walked to the door, secretly looking out.
When he saw the car, he pursed his lips and slowly went back to play with his brother.
“Little Rice Bun. I think the uncle you saw this morning is here again. At the door.”
“Huh?” Little Rice Bun peered out. “Did he bring me nice food?”
“Go out and take a look.”
The boy scrambled happily to his feet and ran outside with his short legs.
The teacher was about to leave when Little Rice Ball followed her with his hands behind his back. “Teacher, my uncle is here to give me something. My brother went out to get it. He’ll be back in a while.”
The teacher looked outside and was relieved to see that Little Rice Ball knew him. However, she still squatted down and touched his little head. “But you have to tell me when you go out, understand?”
She still had to look after the children in the classroom, so she stood at the door so that she can keep an eye on everyone.
Little Rice Bun ran out and knocked on the car door with his little hand. When Chu Jingmo got out of the car, his big eyes seemed to be talking as he looked at Chu Jingmo with sparkling eyes.
“Uncle, are you here for me?” Little Rice Bun asked, his little head still poking into the car as if he was looking for his cake.
Chu Jingmo didn’t expect him to come out. He squatted down to his eye level and could not help but pinch his chubby little face. “How did you know I was here?”
“I saw you,” Little Rice Bun said, pointing to his big eyes to show how observant he was.
“So observant?” Chu Jingmo chuckled. Even his tone was much softer than usual.
Li Chuan looked down and everywhere, except at the president.
Scary.
Little Rice Bun nodded. He looked a little proud.
“You haven’t told me your name,” Chu Jingmo let go of his chubby cheeks and asked.
“My name is Little Rice Bun.”
Chu Jingmo was speechless…
Li Chuan held back his laughter and looked away. It was indeed a name Miss Song would think of.
Little Rice Bun looked around for a moment, then pursed his lips when he realized there was nothing good to eat. “Why are you here, Uncle?”
He didn’t sound so enthusiastic anymore. There was only good food and money in the world that he liked. And, yes, his mommy and younger brother as well.
Chu Jingmo could tell. “Next time, I will buy you something delicious. Or you can tell me what you want. I…”
“Money.” The loud and clear words came out without a thought, and his little tummy quivered.
“Pfft…” Li Chuan really couldn’t hold it in. However, when Chu Jingmo looked at him, he forcefully held back his laughter and looked elsewhere.
Chu Jingmo looked at the little boy again. “I will come every day to bring you delicious food in the future, but I can’t come tomorrow because I have something on.”
“Why can’t you come over?” Little Rice Bun tilted his head in confusion.
“Because my mother is celebrating her birthday. I am going to celebrate her birthday.”
“Wow, will there be a lot of good food then?” Little Rice Bun rubbed his little hands together, feeling hungry.
“Of course there will be a lot of delicious food. Go back. Your teacher will be anxious.” Chu Jingmo patted his little head.
“Okay.” Having gotten his promise, Little Rice Bun skipped back to tell his brother the good news. They would have delicious food every day from now on.
Chu Jingmo watched as Little Rice Bun skipped away happily. “You said that Song Liangjiang took five million yuan from my mother last year, but why does she still seem so desperate for money?”
Without the child, Chu Jingmo’s tone instantly changed.
“I heard that Miss Song spent a lot of money on Mr. Xuan’s Harmonious Flowing Stream and Goblets in the past two years. She probably invested the five million yuan.”
Chu Jingmo paused for a moment. “She invested five million yuan? She is building a new Harmonious Flowing Stream and Goblets?”
“She bought books.”
Chu Jingmo was silent. He was already beginning to doubt his son’s intelligence.
“It’s been two decades since anyone mentioned anything about Harmonious Flowing Stream and Goblets. She’s quite persistent.” After saying that, Chu Jingmo bent and got into the car.
Li Chuan hurriedly got into the car and started the engine.
Little Rice Bun went in and excitedly told his brother the good news. From now on, the uncle would come to deliver delicious food to them every day.
Little Rice Bun and his brother put their heads together. “Brother, the uncle said that tomorrow is his mother’s birthday. There will be a lot of good food. If only we could eat it too.”
Little Rice Ball stared at his innocent older brother. So tomorrow was their grandmother’s birthday?
“You want to eat?”
Little Rice Bun nodded eagerly. “Mommy said if we didn’t want good food, we’d be sorry for what we have climbed onto. What place is that?”
He couldn’t remember.
“Top of the biological chain,” Little Rice Ball added. But his thoughts had flown to their grandmother’s birthday.
Madam Chu had invited almost all the wealthy families in City A to her birthday banquet. This time, Lin Xi came as well.
Song Liangjiang was brought here unwillingly by Chu Jingmo. After entering the venue, she shook off Chu Jingmo and went to look for food, not bothering to talk to him at all.
Madam Chu clearly saw it. After exchanging a few pleasantries with others, she pulled Chu Jingmo aside. “Why did you bring her here?”
“Mom, you don’t seem to understand. We’re not divorced yet, and I don’t want it to repeat again,” Chu Jingmo replied calmly. “If there is a second time, I guarantee that you will only have one daughter-in-law in this lifetime. She is Song Liangjiang.”
Mrs. Chu was furious with her son. “Why do you insist on her?”
Chu Jingmo glanced at Song Liangjiang, who was eating with a grin. “Don’t you think she’s cute?”
Mrs. Chu was rendered speechless.
On the other end of the room, Song Liangjiang was looking for something else to eat. Suddenly, someone patted her shoulder. She turned around and didn’t see anyone. She then noticed someone standing beside her.
Xie Yu leaned against the table to look at her. “Didn’t you get the laptop?”
Song Liangjiang picked up a pastry. “I don’t have time. But that doesn’t mean I would let you off.”
Xie Yu chuckled. “I’ve been waiting for you.”
Song Liangjiang glanced at him and rolled her eyes. She pressed a hand on his shoulder. “I heard that you and Chu Jingmo are childhood friends? The kind of ‘childhood friends’?”
