Chapter 29 Have You Ever Spared No Effort to Achieve Something?
Song Liangjiang didn’t head out for dinner, nor did she order room service. Chu Jingmo only found out after he was done.
When he arrived at her room, he saw papers all over the floor. Song Liangjiang had used a pencil to tie her hair up. At this moment, she was leaning on the desk drawing. There was more crumpled paper beside her feet.
Chu Jingmo did not disturb her. Instead, he leaned against the wall at the entrance and studied the woman who was frowning and scratching her ears. It turned out that she also had moments when she was serious.
He stood for a while before he turned to leave. He called the hotel staff to send supper for her. Song Liangjiang glanced up briefly at him with a pencil in her mouth and lowered her head to continue drawing.
When Chu Jingmo finished his work, it was already two in the morning.
He wanted to rest, but for some reason, he went to see if Song Liangjiang was asleep.
However, when he entered, he saw that apart from the fact that there was more rubbish on the ground, there was no difference from when he had come over previously. If there was a difference, it was the supper that had long turned cold under the pile of paper.
Chu Jingmo frowned and grabbed her wrist. “Come with me.”
“What are you doing? I’m still—”.
Chu Jingmo turned around, took out her earphones from her ears, threw them on the sofa, and led her out.
On the other side of the phone, Tang Yi and her senior brother looked at each other. What was going on?
“Will Jiang Miao’er be in danger?” Her senior was very worried.
Tang Yi yawned and stretched. “I think that’s all for today. It’s impossible to stay up all night.”
After all, she had someone to take care of her now, unlike them.
Her senior didn’t understand. “What did you say? Do you know who Jiang Miao’er is with?”
“The two boys’ daddy.” Tang Yi spoke as she stood up and left.
Her senior moved his lips as if to speak, but in the end he said nothing.
Song Liangjiang was brought back to Chu Jingmo’s room and pushed into the kitchen. “I’m hungry. Cook for me.” Only then did she hear him. “What did you say? I cook for you? Is there something wrong with your brain or am I sick?”
Chu Jingmo lowered his eyes and folded his sleeves.
Song Liangjiang took a step back. “What are you doing?”
Was he going to hit her?
“One meal. I’ll shorten the contract by one month.”
Song Liangjiang paused. One month less meant ten months and fifteen days left. “Sounds good.”
In that case, wouldn’t she be divorced soon if she cooked a few more meals?
She was in an even better mood. She just had to cook a meal.
Everyone had eaten pork even if they hadn’t seen a pig run before, hadn’t they? Chu Jingmo watched as Song Liangjiang began to prepare. It was surprising for her to know how to cook…
Ten minutes later, Chu Jingmo had yet to finish sending an email.
“Ahhh…”
Song Liangjiang suddenly shrieked. Chu Jingmo ran to her quickly and looked at the burning pot. He pulled the pot lid away and closed it. Then, he saw the mess in the kitchen.
Chu Jingmo was speechless…
He took back his words.
“You can’t cook?” A kid who had grown up in the mountains with dead parents and a sick grandfather. And yet, she couldn’t cook.
“Who told you I can cook?” Song Liangjiang blew on her scalded hand.
Chu Jingmo looked back at her with a probing gaze.
Song Liangjiang was taken aback by his expression and couldn’t help but take a step back. “Is it illegal if I don’t know how to cook?”
Chu Jingmo retracted his scrutinizing gaze and grabbed her wrist to lead her out. He asked a hotel staff member to send the first aid kit. He applied ointment for her before going to the kitchen to clean up.
Song Liangjiang followed him to the kitchen. “It’s not that I don’t want to cook for you. Does that one month still count?”
“You still have the cheek to bargain with me after this fiasco?”
Song Liangjiang eyed Chu Jingmo’s skilled actions and was surprised that a young master like him could do these chores.
And he didn’t look like a novice.
Chu Jingmo finished cleaning up the kitchen and cooked two bowls of noodles. Song Liangjiang didn’t feel hungry at first, but now she was really hungry. She took the bowl of noodles with a bright smile. “I didn’t expect President Chu to have this skill.”
“At least I won’t starve myself. How the hell did you grow up?”
Song Liangjiang wolfed down the noodles hungrily. For the first time, Chu Jingmo felt as if he was feeding a cow.
She finished the noodles in a few bites, along with the soup. Chu Jingmo had only taken a few mouthfuls. He rarely ate at night.
“Aren’t you eating?” Song Liangjiang watched as Chu Jingmo chewed slowly, her huge eyes rolling, afraid that others wouldn’t understand what she wanted.
Before Chu Jingmo could say a word, she had already taken his bowl. “I haven’t eaten since this morning. It’s not that I have a huge appetite, I’m just too hungry.”
Chu Jingmo put down his chopsticks and looked at the girl whose head was almost buried in his bowl. “How did you grow so big?”
“I’m lucky. Blessed and charmed.” Song Liangjiang was in a good mood.
Chu Jingmo said, “Then let me tell you a piece of not so fortunate news. The Chu Corporation’s bidding has been brought forward to the 3rd of next month.”
Song Liangjiang was halfway through her noodles. When she looked up, her eyes were glazed with shock. “Next month?”
Song Liangjiang hurriedly swallowed the noodles and counted with her fingers. “Then it is too soon. Didn’t you say two months?”
“A few hours ago, the Chu Corporation’s board of directors unanimously agreed to bring the bidding forward. I’m not in City A, so it’s out of my control.”
Apart from being out of proximity, there was another point. Chu Jingmo didn’t have enough shares to completely suppress all the other shareholders.
Song Liangjiang was stunned for a moment as she digested this news. She picked up the bowl and gulped down half of the soup. After drinking, she wiped her mouth.
“Evil capitalists.”
Chu Jingmo frowned as he watched her rise and walk out. “What are you going to do?”
“There’s no time. There are less than 20 days left. I have to work hard for that five million yuan.”
Chu Jingmo looked at the girl who simply wiped her mouth and left. “Five million. I wonder if you’re really smart or blind.”
Could she not see how much this man standing in front of her was worth?
It was almost three am in the morning when Song Liangjiang returned to her room. She did not contact her seniors again and continued to edit the sketch alone.
Chu Jingmo sat at the dining table for a while and raised his hand to massage his eyebrows. The Chu family’s habit of paying lip service had long been ingrained. If the higher-ups endorsed that culture, there was no need to say about the subordinates.
For example, the security in a hotel was lacking, yet no one raised questions. The reports all stated that everything was running normally.
Chu Jingmo’s phone rang on the table. He glanced at it and picked up.
“When are you returning home? Do you know what you’re doing?” The man on the other end was suppressing his anger.
“There are some problems with my family business.”
“You need the Chu Corporation?”
“The 30,000 employees in the Chu Corporation’s factories shouldn’t be implicated by this group of people.” Chu Jingmo leaned back in his chair and gazed at the night sky. “I’ll explain to Lu Jiang. Don’t worry.” “Chu Jingmo, you…”
“Old Zhou, have you ever spared no effort to achieve something?”
“What kind of thing?”
“For five million yuan, for example.”
