Chapter 504: Chapter 505: Carved from the Same Mold as the President
All of a sudden, every mass media was in uproar.
The news of Gu Qichen’s engagement spread like wildfire.
However, people could not guess who Gu Qichen’s fiancée was.
Over the years, any unmarried woman who had come into contact with him could find herself the subject of hot media gossip.
But so far, they hadn’t uncovered a shred of decisive evidence.
The media couldn’t fathom the identity of Gu Qichen’s mysterious fiancée.
Of course, some media outlets even made a special ranking list.
Ranked first was Xi Zijun, the general manager of the Jiang Group.
This Xi Zijun was no ordinary person.
The Jiang Group was a business empire created by Xi Jiachen, the richest man in Asia.
Xi Zijun was a member of the Xi family, but she was not the child of Xi Jiachen.
She was the biological daughter of Xi Jiachen’s younger brother, Xi Jiaxin.
Her ruthlessness was evident when in just a few short years, she had worked her way into the Jiang Group and ultimately ousted her own father from his position as General Manager.
Inside the company, she didn’t give her father any face.
During meetings, she would even directly throw documents at Xi Jiaxin’s face.
So infuriated was Xi Jiaxin that he wished to sever ties with this daughter.
However, Xi Zijun’s abilities were widely recognized.
Over the years, the Jiang Group had solidified its position as an industry leader under her aggressive expansion.
It was rumored that she had never lost in a takeover fight.
Whenever people in the circle heard her name, they felt a chill.
Such an exceptional woman being linked to Gu Qichen naturally led people to think they were a perfect match.
Fang Zhengdong couldn’t stand Selina’s gossip any longer, “Enough, the boss hates people discussing his private life. That child is not his illegitimate son. I don’t know who he is. You better get going, if you’re late for the meeting, the boss may demote you.”
Selina quickly exited the elevator.
However, she was still very confused, “That’s impossible. If the child is not the boss’s, then why does he look so similar to the boss?”
Fang Zhengdong didn’t pay attention initially.
But after hearing Selina’s remark,
Fang Zhengdong looked at the child again and felt an uncanny resemblance between the child’s face and the boss’s.
Fang Zhengdong pinched his eyes involuntarily, as he thought he must be imagining things.
He assumed that the boss would leave the little child in his office, to be taken care of by the secretary.
But surprisingly, the boss directly took the child to the meeting room.
During the meeting, the child was seated on the sofa next to him.
The boss even looked at him several times during the meeting.
They were in meetings nearly all day.
However, the little one woke up around three in the afternoon.
This was during a critical part of the meeting when the CFO was reporting the semi-annual financial statements.
As soon as the child woke up, Gu Qichen noticed.
He raised his hand slightly, signaling the CFO to temporarily stop the report.
Gu Qichen stood up and walked over.
The child sat up on the sofa and rubbed his eyes, “Uncle, I’m hungry.”
Gu Qichen said, “I will take you to get something to eat.”
Consequently, under everyone’s watchful gaze, Gu Qichen left the meeting room full of shareholders and managers, carrying the child.
Those left in the meeting room were stunned, unable to regain their bearings.
Not only these people, even Fang Zhengdong felt that the boss’s attitude towards this child was too unusual.
The boss was notoriously workaholic.
The longest meeting he ever held lasted 16 hours, and everyone was nearly dead from exhaustion.
When he left the meeting room, however, he looked as fresh as when he had walked in.
