He was openly affectionate with another woman in front of his fiancée. It was downright humiliating.
Only Quan Rui had the nerve to do something so bold.
Jiang Bangyuan’s expression was unpleasant, to begin with. But after Jiang Hao had voiced his concerns, her face turned a shade darker.
“This is all because of Bai Ran, that little wretch. Brother, don’t say anything later. Don’t offend Quan Rui. Our father died recently. If Quan Rui decides to turn his back on us, things could get difficult.” Jiang Bangyuan still had some reservations in her heart.
She was also a realist. After their father had passed, although there were some older seniors around their father’s age to help manage and support the Jiang Family’s business, it had still suffered a disastrous decline.
That was why they organized today’s charity event: to ingrain the presence of the Jiang Family in the minds of the civilians of Sanjiang City.
Quan Rui controlled a great many businesses, and even a fool would know not to fall out of favor with him at a critical time like this.
Jiang Hao, too, nodded his head in agreement after he heard what Jiang Bangyuan said. “Sis, it’s been hard on you.”
Just when the siblings of the Jiang Family were discussing their strategy, Meng Fan began to place his bet.
“Three million!”
Jiang Bangyuan and Jiang Hao reeled back to reality and focused their attention on the gambling match.
When Quan Rui left in a hurry earlier, he hadn’t even looked at his cards yet. He had just upped and left without an explanation.
Right now, the person who could help to read his cards had arrived.
“Do you know how to play?” Quan Rui tilted his chin at Bai Ran before he looked at the card table.
“A little.” Bai Ran was pretty honest with her answer. She did not say that she didn’t know how to play and humbly said that she had some knowledge of the game.
When Quan Rui heard this, he began to smile again.
She even knew how to play this game?
Her answer took Quan Rui by surprise.
“Look at the cards then.”
Hearing Quan Rui’s reply, Bai Ran quickly took her cards from the table and glanced at them.
There were two cards. After looking at their value, a person could place a bet.
Bai Ran tilted her head to look at the chips beside her. Since she did not know the value of the big and small blind they had used previously, she did not dare to state an amount blindly. She looked back cautiously and took one glance at Quan Rui.
“How much can I bet?” Ultimately, the money belonged to Quan Rui, and if Bai Ran were to place a bet, it would be better to seek his opinion first.
“As you please.” Quan Rui didn’t care about the value of the bet on the table. His only concern was winning.
After Bai Ran heard Quan Rui’s reply, she took out a chip of three million dollars in value and pushed it forward. “I’ll follow.”
Afterward, Jiang Hao yelled out that he would pass while Jiang Bangyuan chose to discard her cards.
Jiang Bangyuan received a seven of diamonds and a nine of clubs. What rotten luck! The cards couldn’t be worse than this, and she didn’t want to lose a few million dollars for nothing.
After all the players expressed their stance, the dealer knocked on the table and put three cards down.
The three cards were laid down for all players to see. The rules were simple. The players merely needed to combine their two cards with the other three; the player with the highest value won.
In consecutive order, the three cards were the jack of hearts, the ten of spades, and the king of spades.
When Meng Fan saw these cards, his expression relaxed.
It seemed that his cards were to his advantage.
Jiang Hao remained expressionless while looking at Bai Ran, however.
Bai Ran was still in Quan Rui’s arms. She no longer felt so unfamiliar with this display of intimacy. She seemed to have grown used to being in his arms.
Bai Ran did not look at her cards anymore, and neither did Quan Rui, who was right behind her.
At this point in the game, Quan Rui leaned his body closer to Bai Ran. A faint whiff of her perfume filled his nostrils. It was an exquisite scent he liked.
“How are they? Are the cards good?” Quan Rui did not see what his cards were, so he had to ask Bai Ran.
Bai Ran noticed that Quan Rui was moving closer to her. She subconsciously wanted to avoid him; however, she was rendered helpless because his hands were pressed against her waist and practically controlled the movement of her entire body.
