Bai Ran glared straight in the eyes of the man sprawled on the sofa across the room. She bit her lower lip. She had no idea what she could do in this situation. She could see no way out but obey and take a shower as instructed.
“Quan Rui, I have to give it to you!
“But I’m only going to take a shower. If I lock the door from inside, nobody can come in and do anything to me.
“If I don’t shower…
“It’s just a feeling, but I think that man might really drag me into his stupid bathroom and actually help me to shower!
“Why are we at his house? If he wants to do anything to me, I won’t be able to resist at all!”
Bai Ran suddenly realized that she might have inadvertently entered the lion’s den…
When Bai Ran had stormed up the stairs furiously and disappeared into the bathroom, George walked over quickly.
“Young Master, I’ve finished looking into the matter as per your instructions. The only available information we have managed to find so far is Miss Bai’s address. Her mother is also staying with her at this place. For the time being, we are unable to find out anything else about her mother’s background.” George felt slightly uneasy as he spoke this last sentence.
He was definitely a capable person to be able to keep up with the Young Master and stay by his side for so many years.
Likewise, this time around, he mobilized all of his resources to carry out his task. But much to his chagrin, he found that he was out of his depth, unable to find more information about Bai Ran’s mother.
“Is that so?” Quan Rui raised his eyebrows, but he seemed to be intrigued, not angry. “Since you didn’t find anything, that means her mother is an interesting person with something to hide…”
“Although we did not manage to find out who her mother is, we know that Miss Bai’s mother has always been of poor health. Lately, she has been spending her time convalescing. Her medical bills have piled up into quite a hefty sum of money. This is most likely the reason Miss Bai went to the Jiang Family today.” George had also discovered these leads while he investigated Bai Ran’s mother and he hoped that this information would make up for the lack of progress made so far.
Quan Rui nodded his head in acknowledgment when he heard this, but he did not give out any additional instructions. He merely waved his hand at George to signal that he could leave.
At the wave of his hand, George turned and moved to one side.
Quan Rui now sat alone in the living room.
A maid brought red wine over and poured out a glass for Quan Rui.
Quan Rui did not like to smoke, but at times he would drink red wine while he contemplated things. This was a part of his routine that his attendants learned to recognize instinctively.
The wine glass held a tempting, deep red liquid and he held onto the cup with his slender fingers. He exerted a little more force with his wrist and the liquid began to move, forming rippling waves on its surface.
Quan Rui lifted the wine glass to his lips and took a sip of the wine. He tensed slightly, filling the room with his intense aura for a moment.
Bai Ran’s appearance had disrupted his plans, but it also helped the situation along nicely.
“Perhaps I should make good use of this woman who has barged into my life so abruptly.
“It will be much easier to use her to deal with the Jiang Family.”
As Quan Rui continued to devise his plans, Bai Ran, who was upstairs, had already finished showering.
“It feels really good to take a hot shower after all! It feels as though all the cells in my body have come back to life! My body is less heavy than it was before.”
Bai Ran took the fluffy towel from the rack and dried herself. However, as she reached out her hand to take the clothes the maid had also handed over to her, she instantly froze.
“I’m not seeing things, am I?
“This white dress that was laid out for me just now…is actually…a man’s shirt?”
Bai Ran felt as though she had been struck by lightning and charred to the very core from the outside.
Before she entered the bathroom, she had cast the clothes a cursory glance. She did not look closely because she had been irritated by somebody’s bossiness. She only remembered noticing the pile of white fabric in front of her and thought that she had been given a white dress or something similar to wear…
It never crossed her mind that she would actually be given a man’s shirt!
The corners of her eyes inevitably twitched. Bai Ran wondered if the maid had given her a man’s shirt because she was so bedraggled earlier that it was difficult to tell whether Bai Ran was actually a woman.
“God…you shouldn’t pull a prank like this on me!”
