A frustrated Cross placed Luo Su to soak in a turbid pool of water and stiffly said, “That’s it for tonight. We’ll continue this tomorrow, so rest for now!”
Cross left without even looking back. Whenever he thought about how Luo Su perfectly maneuvered his body so that he would get shot, he felt a headache coming on. He had believed that just a little training would allow Luo Su to mature quickly, but it seemed like he was too idealistic.
If he had to grade Luo Su’s performance, it would be a D, or maybe DD, but no more!
It was a good thing he hadn’t chosen to aim for the head, or else it would have been even harder to find a good assistant!
Luo Su also had a look of frustration. The depictions on the television of people still running around after getting shot were all fake! He had only gotten shot in the leg, but this alone had robbed him of any ability to fight. What sort of physiology did those people have that they were still able to shoot back after getting hit in the arm or not fall over after getting hit by ten-some bullets?
Luo Su had expected that Cross would suddenly shoot him, but he hadn’t expected that he could fire twice. At his current level of strength, it would be extremely difficult for him to deal with a top-class assassin without equipping a card.
While soaking in the pool, Luo Su sensed slight itchiness from the wound on his leg, as well as from the wounds he had suffered during the day. It was an extremely uncomfortable sensation like countless ants were crawling over the wounds.
This was the reaction from the wounds healing, and the discomfort was because the recovery was too fast. The turbid liquid in the pool was not some simple water. Besides Bullet Time and the Loom of Fate, the most mystical thing about the world of ‘Wanted’ was this medicine bath he was currently immersed in.
The medicine in the water could stimulate white blood cells, hastening one’s recovery time. Bruises, knife wounds, and broken bones could be healed in just a few hours. It was much better than Luo Su’s unreliable system.
In the Fraternity’s base, Textiles Mill 17, there was a place called the Recovery Room that also had this pool of medicine that could quickly heal one’s injuries.
The leader of the Fraternity, Morgan Freeman, ah, he meant Sloan, was the greatest weaver the Textiles Mill, but he was sitting on a mountain of treasure completely unaware. He had so many ways of making money, so why did he choose to kill people? He could have just taken this medicine, applied for a patent, and then started selling a diluted form of this medicine as a cure-all.
With this miraculous medicine, it would be a simple matter to dominate the pharmaceutical world and grow richer than a country!
“If Sloan went to a certain place, a poor guy would be dead for sure…” Luo Su closed his eyes and soaked in the water.
…
The next day, Luo Su was awakened automatically by his biological clock. He broke free of the thickened medicine water and crawled out of the pool. After putting on his clothes, he looked around but saw no sign of Cross.
Luo Su practiced shooting on the targets in the factory. The increase to his Wisdom and the remnants of the marksmanship memories from the Subway Police Officer meant that he could hit those human-shaped targets with 100% accuracy. After consuming five clips of ammo, he gave up on this far-too-easy training.
Yes, he had grown arrogant!
Luo Su waited around for a while, but seeing that Cross still hadn’t come, he decided to get something to eat. The medicine bath had been extremely effective, and all his wounds had been healed. It was impossible to tell that he had been shot by a gun last night. But he was also very hungry.
He still stuck with KFC, not because he was so poor that he had no other choice, but because junk food was packed with calories and could replenish his lost energy.
After filling his stomach, Luo Su returned to the factory, but there was still no sign of Cross. He speculated that the man might have been spying on his son again and had no time for anything else, or else he was chasing another target.
Luo Su picked up the gun on the floor and did another hour of training, after which he gave up. This low-level and inflexible training could only waste time, nothing more.
Cross hadn’t left many handguns on the gun rack, as this was not his base. Luo Su could tell that Cross had no intention of being completely open and honest with him. But it was fine. Luo Su had watched the movie and knew Cross’s greatest weakness: his son, Wesley!
If there really was such a thing as a chosen, then in the world of Wanted, that chosen one was Wesley.
Some people could grow up to become legends, while others were losers for their entire lives. As for why this was, did you think that it was because your abilities were lacking?
No! You have sufficient ability, but your genes are lacking!
All roads lead to Rome, but some people were born in Rome, or were even princes of Rome!
The world of Wanted was also one that cared about bloodline. Blood without adrenaline meant that one could not become a top-class assassin. Wesley needed only two weeks to surpass many geniuses who had worked for 20 years. But who were you going to complain about that too?
But Luo Su wasn’t worried! He had a cheat!
With regards to Wesley, Luo Su felt that he needed to meet him once. This kid would become a superman, later on, becoming the best assassin besides Cross. He needed to invest in him while he was still a loser.
Although this could end up enraging Cross, he couldn’t be blamed. It would just be a lucky coincidence. How could he possibly know that Wesley was Cross’s son?
Luo Su was determined to exploit the worth he had while he still had it!
Luo Su put on his baseball hat and left the factory, beginning to follow the trail of his memories and travel along the light rail line.
Wesley’s rented apartment was near a metro station, but Luo Su realized that all the buildings nearby were old apartments that were only three to five stories high. Wesley’s home had an ATM nearby, but Luo Su had already come across more than thirty ATMs. Wesley often went to the market to buy medicine for his panic attacks, but Luo Su had found five supermarkets around the metro line, and all of them sold that medicine.
Luo Su: “…”
“Fine, I’ll just treat this as familiarizing myself with the area. That way, I won’t run into a dead end while being chased.”
Seeing that the sun was setting, Luo Su gave up on finding Wesley. There were too few clues, and he probably wouldn’t recognize Wesley even if he appeared right in front of him.
This was because there was no rule saying that the Wesley of this world looked like the one in the movie.
As for asking directions to Wesley’s apartment, Luo Su didn’t use this method. He needed the meeting to be a coincidence.
With a family meal bucket in his hands, Luo Su wandered beneath the streetlights; At this moment, his cellphone began to ring.
“Where in the world did you run off to?”
Luo Su moved the phone a little farther away. Cross’s roar was so loud that his eardrums had almost fallen out.
“I waited in the factory for you for ages, and then I went out to buy something to eat. I’m currently at…” Luo Su looked around. He was in front of a supermarket called ‘THE EGG STORE”, and next to it was an ATM.
“Alright, it’s fine as long as you’re alive. Wherever you are, get back to the factory at once. The assassins from the Fraternity are nearby, so be careful.” After saying this, Cross hung up.
Luo Su listened to the hang-up tone from the phone and then glanced at the supermarket. His heart began to beat faster, his intuition tells him that this place was about to get very dangerous.
“You’re right! I’ll go back at once!”
For some events and some people, it was best to avoid them. But Luo Su had barely turned around and began to walk away when gunfire erupted from the marketplace.
There was an explosion, and then a young loner-like man wearing a blue jacket ran out in a panic.
Luo Su leaned against the wall and stared at this youth. Although the face was slightly different, his intuition told him that this was Wesley.
Screech!
There was a screech of wheels near Luo Su’s ears, as Cross, driving a boxy delivery truck, drove out of an alley and suddenly slammed on the brakes next to Luo Su.
“Damn, what are you doing here for?” Cross’s jaw dropped. This was too much of a coincidence.
Luo Su shrugged his shoulders. He took a chicken leg from his family-meal bucket and took a bite, his meaning incredibly obvious.
I’m eating, of course! What did you think!
Meanwhile, Wesley was continuing to flee into the parking lot, where a cool red sports car whisked him away.
A Dodge Viper SRT-10!
American sports car tradition emphasized engine power to the max, and this SRT-10 was an unashamed representative of engine power with its 8.4 Liter, 600 horsepower engine. With this greater engine capacity, greater power output, and greater torque, it was like an aggressive viper.
Luo Su nodded his head at the car. “That car is awesome. What do you think?”
Cross rolled in his eyes and pulled Luo Su into the car. “You drive and follow that car…ugh, how’s your driving skills?”
“Average. Press the pedal to the metal and leave the rest to fate!”
“What!?”
“Put on your seatbelt and remember to obey traffic laws. We’re going…” Luo Su put on his seatbelt, and his eyes turned sharp as he stomped on the gas pedal.
[User has equipped ‘Character Card: BABY.’ Time limit of 400 seconds, starting now!]
Cross swallowed and instinctively put on his seatbelt. He sensed a terrifying power from Luo Su, an aura only achieved by those who had reached the very apex of their profession.
This was a veteran driver!
