My Beloved Mr. Mu - Chapter 47
Chapter 47: Tonight, I’m Yours (2)
Ning Youyou paused as she was still dumbfounded. She stared at him fixedly for a moment, and finally, she smiled at him in return.
They found their way to a revolving restaurant that was located in the city center. The place was a high-end restaurant that served authentic French cuisine. Everything about the restaurant symbolized class and elegance, which made it too expensive to be afforded to the general public.
It was Ning Youyou who made the recommendation and invited Mu Shaoqing to dine at the restaurant. Was it dinner or supper? She did not mind, and it did not really matter.
He had been such a great help to her tonight. She promised to take him out for a fancy dinner in return for his kind gesture. There was no time like the present, so she decided to do it tonight.
It was a splendid place with a spacious dining hall. Contrary to her expectations, she found the atmosphere a little odd, as they were the only customers for tonight.
Ning Youyou had a look at the menu and ordered some of the most exquisite delicacies that the restaurant had to offer, with an additional bottle of wine.
The bottle of wine alone cost about 8,000 yuan, meaning the total amount of the bill would more or less cost her one month’s salary at BLOVE.
Mu Shaoqing peered at her with bewilderment.
“Actually, you don’t have to spend so much on this meal.”
Ning Youyou reassured him, “No, this is not too much at all. I’m actually worried about you. You’ve punched the manager in the face. What if he puts you in an awkward predicament?” Her heart sank at the thought of their realities. The manager did have some connections with a senior executive from Zhou Feng.
The hassle could have been easily avoided, had Mu Shaoqing not stepped in to help her.
She would be so guilty if he lost his job. Suddenly, she thought of resigning. Perhaps the only thing left for her to do was to resign.
There was no reason for her to stay in the company anymore after the incident. She should be more sensible and submit her resignation at her earliest convenience.
She swirled the wine in her glass before taking it in one gulp.
The man had a glass of wine in his hand, too, and frowned when he saw her drinking with indecent haste.
“Have I told you that my dream is to join Zhou Feng?”
Her sudden confession was met with astonishment. He gazed at her attentively, trying to find fault in her expression, but there was no element of pretenses.
“I’ve worked so hard for so long. I applied to BLOVE with an outstanding resume and made it in. Where I am now is not even close to where I want to be, but at least it’s a good start. What happened just now was something that I had never thought would happen to me.” The thought of the manager’s indecency gave her a wave of nausea and outrage.
“It surprises me that Zhou Feng actually means that much to you,” he suddenly said while staring at her.
With a smile, Ning Youyou lifted her shoulders in a dismissive shrug. “It’s a shame that too many talents have been buried in BLOVE, all thanks to the stupid manager. How I wish I could teach him a hard lesson!”
Perhaps she had gotten too comfortable with Mu Shaoqing, so she began confiding in him as she shared her troubles. Perhaps it was the wine, which made her forget that they were just acquaintances who had just met not long ago.
Ning Youyou poured out her troubles to him, everything there was to tell about her work, even the expired coffee that was still in the pantry.
She went on and on for a while without interruptions. Slightly tipsy, she almost bottomed the entire bottle of wine, alone.
Mu Shaoqing did not stop her. He sat in silence and listened to her speech as if he was her most loyal audience.
At the end of the meal, she called the waiter for their bill.
She had to dig into her pouch for a while to look for her credit card.
“Hey, I don’t have any cash. Do you accept cards?” The card had every penny of the salaries from her short-lived career. If she remembered the amount correctly, it should be enough to pay the bill.
