My Beloved Mr. Mu - Chapter 56
Chapter 56: Had He Misinterpreted The Context?
Xiao Hong glared at Xiao Lan for the unnecessary outburst. “What’s the matter? What’s all your blind panic about? Did someone burn down your house or something?”
Xiao Lan took a seat and stared back at Xiao Hong, fiercely. “Haven’t you seen the notice from Zhou Feng’s principal office?”
“What notice? Is the disgustingly fat manager coming back to work?” Xiao Hong was clearly taken by surprise.
Xiao Lan could not help but roll her eyes at the absurdity. Fed up with her nonsense, she turned to Ning Youyou and continued the story, “Zhou Feng made an announcement this morning saying that the company will recruit ten outstanding employees from its subsidiaries to work in the headquarters.”
“To the headquarters!?” Xiao Hong’s eyes shone with a glitter of hope.
Xiao Lan gave her a slight nod of reassurance. “The rule is that every department has to recommend their best employee as the representative. These people will then take part in a qualification test. The best ten on the scoreboard will be recruited and assigned to respective departments according to their strength.”
“Youyou, you were the top scorer in our department during the last test,” said Xiao Lan, excitedly. Ning Youyou could not hide her delight. It was truly a pleasant surprise to learn of the opportunity. “We’ll be so proud of you if you’re recruited.”
Ning Youyou’s heart fluttered with joy.
It was real. Her dream was calling to her.
She had always wanted to be a part of Zhou Feng. With the right support, the opportunity finally knocked.
“The general manager’s office has issued a notice in response to the recruitment. Dozens of employees from BLOVE will be recommended to join. The top performer from each department is required to fill in a form from the general manager.”
She was so eager to see the manager that she left her food unfinished and left the table right away.
Three days later, the results were out, and a list of recommended employees was sent to Mu Shaoqing for his perusal.
Mu Shaoqing, however, did not even flip the papers. “How’s it?” He remained conspicuously uninvolved.
Though puzzled by his indifference, Tang An answered anyway, “The first place is taken by Mr. Wang, who’s a manager from our Northern European subsidiary company. Ms. Ning Youyou came second.”
Mu Shaoqing had got what he needed to know, so he walked away from Tang An with no intention of hearing the results of the remaining candidates.
Tang An stopped talking immediately.
Hesitantly, he added another question before Mu Shaoqing left the room. “Boss, which department would you like her to be in?”
Mu Shaoqing stopped by the door but did not turn around.
“That’s your responsibility. Send her to whichever department that fits. Do you need to ask more?”
Tang An was rendered speechless and watched in bewilderment as Mu Shaoqing stepped out of the office.
He had painstakingly planned for the recruitment, but with only one goal in mind, which was to get Ning Youyou into the company. It seemed, however, that he had misinterpreted the context of his boss’ instructions.
Ning Youyou was successfully recruited by Zhou Feng as the runner-up. Her job scope remained unchanged. She still worked as a translator in the marketing department, the only changes that applied were the location of her company and the figure of her salary, which was doubled.
It was truly terrific news to Ning Youyou.
“Youyou, what are we going to do without you?”
“I’m going to miss you.”
Ning Youyou looked at her two good friends and could not suppress a chuckle. “I’m going to miss you, too. I’ll come back frequently to visit you.”
Xiao Lan showed a complacent smile and grabbed Ning Youyou’s hand as she said, “Hehe. We’re not going to talk to you again if you stop coming back to visit us. All right now! We should all go for a feast this weekend as a celebration for the promotion!”
“Sure,” Ning Youyou agreed, smilingly. She wondered if she would be able to see him again, now that they were both working in the same company.
