“Grandma will give you some.” Mrs. Jiang used her chopsticks to pick up some fish.
When Mr. and Mrs. Jiang saw that the young couple were interacting normally, they heaved a sigh of relief. They once again felt bad for and grateful towards their daughter-in-law.
“Why have you come back suddenly?” Mr. Jiang looked at his son and started a conversation.
“I have a few days off after we wrapped up.” Jiang Anzhi answered lightly.
Mr. and Mrs. Jiang could not help the twitch in their eyelids when they heard the words ‘wrap up’. Their son kept bringing things up that he shouldn’t.
“Your days and nights were all messed up when filming. You can rest well at home and can keep Lanchu and Angling company.” Mrs. Jiang tried to rescue the impending train wreck that the conversation was heading towards.
“Yep.” Jiang Anzhi nodded. He did not seem any different from usual.
“Then you two can stay here tonight. Leave again tomorrow.”
“No, it’d be easier to leave at night.” Jiang Anzhi rejected them straightaway.
There were many people during the day, and it was better for him to leave at night to avoid the crowds. He might be used to it, but it was hard on them.
Jiang Anzhi had always been a decisive person, so Mr. and Mrs. Jiang did not try to force them to stay.
When they were about to leave, Mrs. Jiang went up to Jiang Anzhi especially.
“There’s really nothing going on between you and Fu Qi, right?”
Jiang Anzhi glanced at his mother and did not say a single word. Mrs. Jiang hurriedly said, “I believe in you, of course. But look at all those rumors on the internet. The Chu might be unfortunate. Remember to explain to her when you all go home.”
“Okay.” One could not tell how Jiang Anzhi was feeling from his expression.
“Sigh, go on, go on.” Mrs. Jiang shook her head helplessly. Her son was an adult now, and he would not do as she said. What her son owed her daughter-in-law, they would have to make up for it.
Jiang Anzhi and Feng Lanchu’s home was in the new district. It was a three-story house that was very private. There was both a front and a backyard. Feng Lanchu had decorated very well, and there was greenery everywhere around the house. One could sit down in the yard to look at the moon in the autumn.
When they reached home, Feng Lanchu immediately helped Jiang Che with his bath. When Jiang Che left the shower smelling clean and fresh, their luggage had already been unpacked and organized by Jiang Anzhi.
Jiang Anzhi was holding a tiny backpack, looking rather perplexed but the contents of it.
“Dad, it’s my present to you. Do you like them?”
Jiang Che ran up to Jiang Anzhi excitedly in his pajamas. He looked up at Jiang Anzhi with a look of anticipation.
Jiang Anzhi raised his eyebrows in surprise. Then, he smiled gently and said, “I like them. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Dad. Tell me a story.”
The child, who was usually solemn and quiet, became especially lively and cute when he saw Jiang Anzhi. Who would believe it if anyone were to say that that wasn’t true love?
“You keep him company then. I will go and make his milk.” Feng Lanchu said jealously behind Jiang Che.
“Alright.” Jiang Anzhi smiled. He took the bag and the hand of his son and led the boy to his room.
When Feng Lanchu brought the milk into the room, she saw Jiang Che lying in Jiang Anzhi’s arms. The father and son, who looked so much alike, were looking at a picture book seriously.
Jiang Anzhi was known to all as Mr. Nice. He had an outstanding reputation and was serious about his work, gentle, and polite. He may be very popular, but he was never stuck-up. That was how he was like to the public. At home, he treated Jiang Che very well and was very affectionate towards him. Even though he rarely returned home, he would put down everything every time he did come home and spend all his time with Jiang Che.
This was also why Jiang Che was so infatuated with him.
Feng Lanchu placed the milk by the bed. Jiang Che didn’t even look at her.
He had forgotten his mother now that his father was around. Understanding that she was but just a maid or a nanny to the child, Feng Lanchu rolled her eyes speechlessly and went to shower.
Jiang Anzhi smiled slightly and pinched Jiang Che’s face as he watched Feng Lanchu’s jealous figure walk away.
“Why did you ignore mom?”
Jiang Che looked up from the picture book then. His dark eyes shone as he said, “I want to let Mom rest.”
Given how worried his mother usually was, she would definitely want to coax him to bed before going to do her own things.
Jiang Anzhi was slightly surprised. He did not expect that Jiang Che would have such thoughts.
Jiang Che asked, “Dad, why did you ignore Mom?”
Jiang Anzhi smiled as well. His eyes were gentle as he said,
“For the same reason.”
Jiang Che smiled when he heard that. The father and son had the same smile. If a fan were to see this, their hearts would definitely be melted by this touching and beautiful scene.
