Chapter 22 I’m No Genius, but I’m Surely Gifted
There were a few customers browsing Elegant Garden at this moment.
Upon spotting Qin Yanan walking into the shop while crossing arms with a young man, the customers gasped in shock.
Qin Yanan’s beauty was divine, and she seemed like the type of woman that would often go on flings with men.
In fact, her hospitable attitude towards all of her customers had often sent wrong signals to them.
Previously, there were even instances where these misguided customers would consider committing depraved acts towards her.
However, all these individuals would disappear inexplicably without exception for a period of time.
Upon returning, their attitude towards Qin Yanan would become extremely respectful. It was as if they were deathly afraid of angering her.
When asked about what had prompted their sudden change in attitude, all of them had kept their mouths sealed shut. None of them were willing to speak a single thing.
As time passed, rumors about Miss Qin having a powerful godfather that held dominion over the entirety of Zhonghai began to spread.
Anyone who dares to lay their hands on his goddaughter would die a terrible death.
Regardless of the authenticity of the rumors, no one dared to lay a finger on Miss Qin anymore.
It was because of these very same rumors that Qin Yanan walking in with a young man had caused such a stir.
They were all secretly trying to determine the young man’s identity.
“Master Zhang, the Little Tang that I told you about has arrived. Didn’t you want to meet him?”
Qin Yanan walked into the shop and said to the old man sitting on a table by the window, who was holding a magnifying glass and studying an ancient book.
Tang Feng was sure that the old man had heard Qin Yanan’s introduction. Nevertheless, the old man did not get up immediately. Instead, he continued to focus his attention on the book.
The impression that the old man had given Tang Feng was that he was not an easy person to approach.
Regardless, he was not too worried. After all, he was only here to help Qin Yanan out.
If the working environment was no longer tolerable, he could simply just pack up and leave.
With this thought in mind, he began to look around the antique shop.
Although Qin Yanan’s antique shop’s business was average at best, the decoration was still very attentive.
It was a mixture of classical and modern style of decoration. It was neither simple nor old-fashioned, fresh but not out of place.
She had probably hired someone famous to design the place.
There were many shelves in the shop, and located on top of them were several antiques.
Qin Yanan’s wares included porcelain, pottery, metal utensils, and so on. All of her wares were contained within a glass container.
There were also many calligraphy and painting works hanging on the wall.
Her design choices and goods had given the shop a rather professional atmosphere.
However, upon activating the Scanning System and appraising her goods, he noticed that there were not many items of value.
He did not know whether it was because Master Zhang was an average appraiser, or because Qin Yanan did not pay much attention when ordering her goods.
In short, Tang Feng could see why her business was failing.
However, the way she maintained her shop’s antique display, temperature, humidity, and lighting in the antique shop were worth commending
It had given off comfortable vibes.
After waiting for more than ten minutes, Master Zhang still did not come over to greet him. It seemed to Tang Feng that he had been forgotten.
Qin Yanan felt a little awkward for bringing Tang Feng over in the first place, so she urged him again, “Master Zhang, would you like to greet Little Tang?”
Master Zhang raised his head and glanced at the two of them. Then he put down his magnifying glass, took off the reading glasses on his nose, and walked over.
He looked to be in his sixties, but his body was a little hunched, and he swayed when he walked.
Tang Feng was afraid that he would die if he lost his footing and fell.
He immediately took the initiative to walk forward, wanting to help him up.
However, his attempt was interrupted when Master Zhang raised his hand to stop him. “There’s no need. I’m not old to the point where I need someone to help me move around.”
Tang Feng had no choice but to withdraw his hand and stand quietly at the side.
Master Zhang sized him up a few times before asking, “May I know who your master is and where they hail from?”
Tang Feng glanced at Qin Yanan. Did she not tell him about his situation?
Although he was puzzled, he still answered honestly, “I have never had a master. My skills were self-taught.”
Master Zhang glanced at his face. “You can become an appraiser by self learning nowadays? It seems that you are a peerless genius.”
The old man’s words were full of sarcasm. This prompted Tang Feng to retort, “I’m no genius, but I’ll admit that I’m at least gifted.”
Master Zhang nodded and chuckled. “It’s good for a young man to be arrogant, however, there must be limits to your attitude. You never know who you’ll provoke if you keep up with this attitude.”
Tang Feng turned to look at Qin Yanan. Did she invite him over to be appraise stuff, or was he here to take a lecture?
Qin Yanan’s expression was a little awkward. She hurriedly turned to Master Zhang. “Master Zhang, please don’t underestimate Little Tang. Despite his age, his talent for appraisal is no joke.”
Master Zhang did not respond. Instead, he slowly sat back down on his chair. “Then let me test him. I’d like to determine whether he’s truly as good as you claim he is.”
Qin Yanan smiled and waved her hand. “There’s no need to test him, right? After all, I saw his appraisal abilities with my very own eyes. I can’t possibly be wrong.”
Master Zhang turned back to look at her. “Since the responsibility that I’m about to pass on is a rather heavy burden, if possible, I’d prefer to test him personally first. Only then could I rest assured.”
“Of course, as the owner of Elegant Garden, there’s nothing I can do if you insist on having him take up the mantle.”
“…” Qin Yanan hesitantly looked towards Tang Feng’s direction.
“Since Master Zhang is doing this out of worry, I’ll gladly accept his test. It just so happens that I want to learn the full extent of my abilities as well. I want to know whether I’m truly worthy of accepting this burden.” Since Tang Feng had the system to back him up, he had nothing to fear.
Upon hearing Tang Feng’s words, Master Zhang’s expression softened slightly. “It’s rare for the youth nowadays to have such a positive attitude.”
“I’ll give you three questions. As long as you can answer two out of the three questions correctly, you’re considered to have passed the test.”
Tang Feng shook his head. “There’s no need for such leniency. If I make so much as a single mistake in answering those three questions, I’ll personally walk out of this shop. You won’t even need to lift a finger.”
Master Zhang immediately burst into laughter. “You have quite an attitude, kid. Though I do hope that you have the ability to back up such an attitude.”
With that, Master Zhang brought out a copper coin from his pocket and placed it on the table.
“Let’s start off with something light. Can you determine whether this coin is real, or fake?”
