Chapter 556: Chapter 556: Are You Really My Biological Mother?
Outside the ward.
Lu Lingche was standing in the corridor. He originally intended to leave the hospital, but after some thought, he turned towards the baby care room.
Inside, only Lu Nian, a baby, was there, and beside him was Madam Lu, who always stayed by his side.
Upon seeing him, Madam Lu’s face immediately broke into a smile. “Lingche, you’re here to see the baby, huh? Come, see how much he looks like you!”
Lu Lingche walked up to the baby, looked at him for a moment, and said bluntly, “Are you blind? How does he look like me?”
The smile on Madam Lu’s face froze instantly and she said displeased, “Is that how you talk to your mother? What do you mean ‘am I blind’? I think you’re the one who’s blind. The kid clearly looks so much like you!”
Lu Lingche suddenly asked her, “Are you really my mother?”
A shiver ran down Madam Lu’s spine. She forcefully suppressed her unusual expression and scolded him with a stern face, “Of course I am your mother! If I weren’t your mother, I would not have tolerated your bad temper this long, I would have kicked you out of the house by now!”
“So, because you’re my mother, you teamed up with Lan Yuyi to deceive me, telling me the child is mine?”
Madam Lu’s face changed dramatically: “What did you say?!”
“Lan Yuyi has admitted it, the child is not mine; it’s my brother’s.”
“That’s impossible!”
“Whether it’s possible or not, you can verify with Lan Yuyi. However, she might not have time for you right now; her parents are divorcing, and both sides are bruised from their violent fights—it’s quite a horrendous sight.”
Madam Lu’s face turned deathly pale.
She could not understand why Lan Yuyi would admit to the truth about the child. She was even more frustrated by the increasing chaos and decline of the Lan Family. It was absolutely humiliating for the Lu Family to form a matrimonial alliance with such a family, and the fact that her grandson was born into this external family was utterly disgraceful!
Deep inside, she regretted allowing her son to date Lan Yuyi, whose family was obviously not worthy enough!
Lu Lingche, for his part, did not care about her reaction. Learning that the child was not his, he felt a sense of relief that was inexplicable amidst his anger.
He didn’t betray his older brother, and he wasn’t the one who got the older brother’s woman pregnant.
All his guilt and shame had dissipated.
Actually, his mood was not bad at all.
His voice remained indifferent: “Even if you wanted me to raise my brother’s child, you didn’t have to resort to such devious and despicable tactics, did you?”
“Despite never having slept with Lan Yuyi, you colluded with her to deceive me, insisting that I had slept with her, that she was bearing my child, and forcing me to divorce and marry her.”
“When Qiao Yin was pregnant with my child, you were acting crazy, relentless in your cooperation with Qiao Haidong, coercing Qiao Yin to have an abortion, as if you feared that my child could be born.”
“You even lied to my father, claiming that I was sterile, that the child Qiao Yin was carrying was not mine, but Dongfang Mu’s. How much do you hate me? Just how shameless can you be to do all these things?”
“You’ve used every cunning and dirty trick possible to go against me. You’re this ruthless towards me, and you have the audacity to say you’re my mother?”
Listening to his words, Madam Lu calmly moved to stand in front of the incubator, shielding her grandson behind her.
Then, she began to cry: “Lingche, you must understand me. All these years, your oldest brother was my most precious son. When he suddenly passed away, I was devastated, so I made a few foolish mistakes. Don’t blame me. I was just too heartbroken.”
“This child is the only blood of your older brother left in this world. Look how much he looks like your older brother. What use is it blaming me now? You should cherish your nephew and fulfill your duty as an uncle!”
“I’m not that I don’t love you, but you’re still alive. You have a future full of possibilities, but your brother no longer has one. This tiny bit of bloodline is all that’s left of him. Of course, I would fight to protect it with my life!”
“Any threat to the child, I will absolutely eliminate! I cannot allow even the slightest mishap to happen to the child!”
