Chenli was guarding Han Dong’s bedroom entrance, and the moment she saw that Edward had begun searching the first floor of the bungalow, she turned around to ask, “Do you need me to make a move?”
“There are still four hours left until the scenario ends. Under the circumstances where the evil spirit has determined that I’m already dead, I must not let Edward leak out the information that I’m still alive, but I can’t kill him off outright either. Miss Chenli, do this later…”
Han Dong related to Chenli his last minute changes to the plan that would deal with Edward.
After listening to his plan, Chenli was slightly worried for Han Dong, “Your body… Will it be okay? What if the other party notices the trap, what will you do then?”
“It is simply a mismatch between our physical strength and physique, I still have some ways to protect myself… You don’t have to worry, the current Edward has already suffered severe injuries and is currently between a hammer and an anvil; the chance of him realizing that this is a trap should be minuscule. In any case, he might actually become vigilant if he spotted you in advance.”
“Alright then.”
Chenli found a corner on the second floor and hid herself… As for her brother Daqing, who had been a part of the original plan, he was quietly hiding in a certain spot inside the bungalow.
—————————————————
“Is he hiding up on the second floor?”
Edward Murray had very swiftly completed his search of the first floor. Just as he was about to walk out of the storage shed and head toward the stairs, while he was still in a high strung state, Edward heard an odd sound mixed in with the howling winds and rain outside. Turning around abruptly, he looked out to the forest beyond the bungalow.
He spotted a living creature in the distance on all fours very quickly darting over in the dark night, and this sight left Edward’s heart shuddering inside.
“My steel blade had clearly severed her mouth just now, and I’ve shot my flames right into her mouth… From the injuries and the screams back then, she clearly has a weakness against fire. How long has it been since then? How is she able to chase me down so soon? What my cousin said was true; aside from the simple 1-star scenarios out of all the Novice Space of Destiny Scenarios, any monster we might encounter during high level scenarios are going to be extremely difficult to kill, even if we know about their weakness. It would not matter if they are heavily injured, since they would be capable of recovering in a short period of time. I need to hurry up and find Nicholas and use him to buy me more time. Otherwise… I’ll really end up dead! I must become a returnee. I must join the Knight Regiments. I must see the outside world!”
His hydraulic pistons pumped as a burst of hot steam shot out from the gap between his prosthetic arm. An approximately 30 centimeter (approximately 12 inches) long blade then extended from his palm.
At the same time, he was holding onto a woodcutter’s axe in his left hand, something he found in the storage shed.
Edward’s killing intent was already completely on display. Even if he encountered the kitchen knife wielding ‘Accursed Chenli’, he would also have no qualms to face her head on and kill her… In order to survive, Edward had already suppressed his fear to the point it was no longer being acknowledged.
Dashing up to the second floor, he immediately went to Han Dong’s bedroom, ‘room 1’.
However, when he plunged his steel blade through the lock and kicked open the door, he saw the frail and emancipated Han Dong still sitting by the bed… But Edward found it somewhat strange to have so easily located him.
In the meantime, the storm was still going strong outside.
Edward could still faintly hear the strange wailing cry coming from the forest. This was a sort of invisible oppression that the evil spirit gave off, making it hard for Edward to calmly think things through.
Han Dong had chosen not to hide but actually chose to stay in this room at this final juncture… Anyone with a working brain could have worked out that there must definitely be something crafty going on.
But the pressure that the evil spirit was giving off, and Edward’s eager wish to kill off Han Dong had caused the blond hair Edward to overlook that one point.
After all, facing someone whose strength was not even that of a woman’s while he was armed with his steam prosthetic, all Edward needed was a single hand to easily squish Nicholas to death.
Edward had a fierce expression as he spoke, “Even though I really want to know how you managed to escape from Ackmann after you got teamed up with her… There’s not much time now, so I don’t have the luxury to solve this mystery.”
After he swept his eyes around the room and was certain that there was no obvious trap set up, Edward revealed his murderous intent in full force and dashed right for Han Dong…
*CRACK!*
In the first three steps he took, Edward actually stomped onto the ground, and his entire body went crashing down.
Due to his upper body being slightly broader than his lower body, he ended up stuck in his waist halfway as he fell down.
It was a very simple and well hidden trap.
With Edward’s waist being stuck to the ground, and because of his frantic struggle as a result of his panic, it caused the rebars to thrust into his physical body… There was basically no possibility of Edward getting himself out this time.
Death.
Edward only realized the foolish mistake that he had stupidly made as he stared at Nicholas, still seated by the bed watching him struggle with great futility.
At about this time, he heard the room door behind him close, and a disheveled looking, black haired woman in red came into view.
Chenli did not immediately kill Edward but used the rope that she had brought to tightly tie up Edward’s two hands, before using her kitchen knife to stab right into the key gear and wreck his prosthetic arm.
At this rate, Edward had become a lamb primed for slaughter. At this juncture, he instead showed a look of relief.
“Nicholas Valen… You’re not an ordinary peasant, are you? You are on an entirely different level than all those who had died. Originally, I planned to leave a frail and weak commoner like yourself for last as insurance. But who would have guessed that I actually ended up leaving a rat for last, and it was even a despicable rat who could think for himself. Are you someone from the Church? A newbie that the Knight Regiment is secretly grooming?”
Han Dong was just gazing at him, not answering him at all.
Actually, Han Dong had really wanted to learn more information from him… But seeing the state Edward was in right now, he was also having trouble asking anything.
It was also at this time when a crisp chime came from the first floor, which was the signal that Daqing was supposed to give when the evil spirit entered the bungalow.
“Let’s go!”
There was already a ladder prepared beforehand for their escape, leaning against the window outside.
With enough time to spare, Han Dong and Chenli departed from the room via the window.
Meeting up with brother Daqing, they threw several firewoods in succession through the windows of every room… These firewoods had been soaked through with gasoline prior and they were rapidly burning up.
“Go to hell.”
After Han Dong and the siblings had set the bungalow ablaze, they abandoned the building and headed toward the tiled house where they had triggered the hidden event before.

*CREAK!*
The door on the second floor of the bungalow was pushed open.
Ackmann, with her cracked mouth burnt black, quickly crawled into the room.
Her mind was constantly at work, staring at Edward bound up on the bed, with his tongue cut off so he could not speak.
Ackmann still retained the ability to think, and she could not understand just how Edward ended up in his current predicament.
Hot air was rising from beneath her feet, as the fire had already completely spread to the entire bungalow.
Ackmann was indeed afraid of fire, but in order to ensure there was no room for errors, she had personally come in to do the deed.
As her two hands enveloped Edward’s face, there was not much fear in this extraordinary youth. The only thing visible in his eyes was the hate that he bore toward Nicholas. There was no way around it. He had lost.

Because a survivor has died, the cooldown for the next kill is now set at 2 hours… Current survivor count: [1]. The restrictions will be completely removed in the last hour.

The evil spirit had received this message just as she wanted to climb out of the burning building. Because the bungalow was already in a state of disrepair due to it being abandoned in the first place, the support pillars all collapsed when the fire spread, bringing down the entire bungalow down into a raging inferno.
