My Cell Prison - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Chapter 3 – Start from the Beginning

Han Dong immediately immersed himself in the secret scientific article when it appeared. In his previous life, Han Dong’s personal best record was consecutively reading 20 scientific dissertations and treatises in a single day. But he was facing some trouble reading this time, and it was not his brain problem, but because Han Dong was completely unable to grasp what was being detailed in those papers.
“Quantum Physics… Utilizing a fourth dimension to intervene on the quantum level in a subject’s consciousness? With the human brain as a ‘carrier’ to subjectively ‘influence’ and ‘regulate’ the quantum space. Woah, this interdisciplinary article is really hard to read.”
Every avenue of academia had their specialization.
Han Dong’s standard in physics had remained at the undergraduate level.
“If what this article hypothesizes is true, it might very well invoke quite the revolutionary storm in the field of physics if I were to bring it back to my world. However, this work still contains some of the magic principles of this world, and I can hardly make heads or tails out of the weird words in the last few pages, which means that this particular technology can only be realized in this world. Argh, I gotta stop thinking, my heart hurts! In any case, This so-called [Subspace Containment technology] has already been assembled into this brain.”
Han Dong turned toward the head that was inside the hydraulic sealed glass jar.
Using the operation method as prescribed in the document, Han Dong opened that glass jar and reached his hand in to touch that shiny head.
***************************
Anonymous Head (Unknown Identity in its previous life)
[Faceless One’s Head] Modified, equipped with the impersonation and the portable prison abilities. Load Value: 100
***************************
“Full Load Value?! This head did not simply have the quantum subspace ability fused to it, it even had the power of Impersonation. Furthermore, its description seems to be completely different from the other carriers here in the prison.”
Should he choose a completely intact prisoner’s corpse, or just pick this head alone?
“I’ve made my decision!”
The female devotee’s upper torso instantly lost its lease of life and slumped on the table.
*Glug*
The mass of cells came out from the mouth, slowly crawling and inching its way to the round and faceless head.
***************************
Faceless One’s Head (Modified), the required load value is 100. You will not be able to choose any other carriers once you fuse with this. Do you accept the fusion?
***************************
Confirm!
Han Dong accepted it with resolute determination. But the process of this melding was different from all the others that he had experienced before.
The process with this head took an extremely long time. A minute passed… An hour… Ten hours. During the entire process, Han Dong’s consciousness entered a state of ‘stagnation’ as he merged with the head. He did not know just how long it had been.
The scene that he saw in front of him was completely different when his consciousness finally returned to him and he opened his eyes.
The cold wind was blowing in Han Dong’s ears.
It was a pitch black night with a full moon. Stars dotted the sky.
Mud, conifers, and dense vegetation.
The Prison no longer existed, and Han Dong found himself amidst a forest of coniferous trees, now as just a head without a body.
“Did the prison automatically disappear since I’ve finished choosing my carrier?”
It was at that moment when he heard the familiar ping from the system.
**************************************
Carrier selection complete. Due to the incompleteness of the host selected, you are temporarily incapable of activating the relevant abilities of your Faceless One’s Head.
Please locate a complete human body as soon as possible.
Note: Your current load is already at 100%, so you are unable to occupy the physical body of a special individual. Please choose a body that is of a lower quality than the average human in order to occupy it.
*************************************
Han Dong needed to find parts that would not increase his load.
After receiving the relevant prompt, Han Dong tried to move. When he used his brain to give himself the orders to move, he felt a wave itch come forth from his neck region.
He lowered his head to look… Strands after strands of thick mycelium (tentacle-like) grew from his neck and were carrying his head to move, already reaching the run speed that the average human could achieve.
Just as Han Dong had kept moving for quite some time, the sound of horses galloping broke the monotony that permeated the forest. Using the light from the moon, Han Dong could clearly make out something that was scientifically different from his own worldview, galloping through the forest.
It was a horse carriage.
But it was a combination of steam technology and copper metal. The limbs of the horses that he saw were replaced by a sort of copper steam piston device that provided it with sufficient power. Complimenting this was an intricate and precise system of gears that reproduced the galloping motion of a horse perfectly. The perfect and streamlined metallic design made the galloping all the more natural and steady. Furthermore, each of the body of the horses and their heads were still intact, and it even had a sort of metal armor that was inlaid with a pearlescent finish on the surface that gleamed in the moonlight. Han Dong was unable to identify with his naked eye just what sort of metal the armor was forged from.
The two copper horses were pulling a closed copper carriage. An enormous amount of steam was constantly spewing from the edges of the carriage, and the neatly arranged pipes were all at work, signifying that this carriage was presently going at full speed.
“A steam horse carriage running at full speed through the forest? Is something chasing after them?” Han Dong was quietly hidden inside a patch of grass, the tentacles beneath his neck had all been retracted. He was holding his breath, waiting for the carriage to pass by.
However….
The carriage’s metal side door cracked open as a human wearing a face mask, dressed in a black cloak that covered every inch of this person’s body, snatched the human head out from the underbrush.
Let it be known that a horse carriage was capable of moving at about 80 km/hr (50 mph), and that person inside had homed in on a head that was hidden in the dark and gloomy forest during the night.
This person’s movement was swift like flowing water. and the head was casually tossed into a burlap sack In the instant the head was brought into the carriage.
The stench of rotting flesh filled Han Dong’s nostrils.
There were actually already two decomposing corpses inside the burlap sack. But because Han Dong had already spent years of his previous life being exposed to the foul smelling rodent breeding rooms and the tens of thousands of dissections he did with rodents, he was perfectly fine when faced with such smells right now… He could easily pretend to be a corpse and eavesdrop on the conversation outside.
Someone was speaking perfect English with an English accent, “Denise! Do you know just how dangerous it was to do what you just did?! Those monstrosities that are chasing us down right now could very well be Mutant Hybrids.”
What followed was a firm and elegant sounding female voice, “Even if it’s just a head, we can’t let them have the chance to eat…”
“You’re too obstinate! Your recklessness will one day cause you to turn into one of those corpses… Strange. Even though we are close to the Holy City, where did that head come from? If it belonged to some coward trying to sneak out of the Holy City, the ensuing corpse should either be gone without a trace or left entirely intact! It shouldn’t be left with just a head. We need to investigate this!”
Inside the corpse sack, Han Dong was suddenly startled by the conclusion that voice had come to.
Even though they were humans, the situation would become troublesome if they were to discover that Han Dong was a living head.
If Han Dong was in the world that he previously inhabited, his destiny would have him end up in a science laboratory for further research and study, an existence that would have been a fate worse than death.
Even if it was a parallel world, the end result should more or less be the same.
The corpse sack opened, and a pair of eyes behind a face mask stared right at Han Dong’s head.
*BOOM!!*
It was at that moment when an explosion occurred. The carriage suffered a violent impact and the sack was shut tight.
“To think that they are able to catch up to a steam carriage! Use copper bullets in retaliation… We’re not too far from the Holy City, so we should have enough bullets to last us till we reach the city.”
*RATATATATATATATAT!!*
The deafening sound of machine gunfire rattled off.
Inside the corpse sack, Han Dong heaved a sigh of relief. The crucial predicament he was in had actually been interrupted by those so-called mutants.
As he slowly got used to the gunfire sounds, the now calm Han Dong began to digest what he had learned from the contents of the conversation between the two voices he overheard, and the curiosity he had to this world that he had transmigrated to grew.
What are mutants? Some sort of monster?
Holy City? Why haven’t I heard of it before? Was it a country that came into existence in this parallel world?
“There’s too little information to go by. There’s no way I can infer anything… But the moment I arrive at this Holy City, I’ll need to come up with a solution to escape this carriage! I can slowly investigate and learn about this world after I get away from these people. Better yet, if those monsters giving chase were able to damage a portion of this carriage…”
Just as Han Dong thought about this point, he heard a loud crunch.
It was as if the layer of metal plating to this carriage had been torn open by some sharp object.
“Quick send the signal! Get those wastrels guarding the city to open the gates for us!”
“Roger that!”
A flare shot out from the roof of the carriage.
In the next moment, Han Dong heard the sound of some heavy gates creaking open loudly.
Approximately five minutes later, the machine guns stopped firing, and Han Dong could feel the carriage slowing down.
“Are they in the city…. Better get ready to escape from this carriage.”
Han Dong could more or less guess what was happening outside the sack.
These people eased their bodies and minds after they managed to escape from those monsters’ pursuit. Before the city gates were closed, they must have been keeping their eyes peeled on the situation outside… They were not about to pull their attention away from it any time soon.
Han Dong slowly opened up the corpse sack with the mycelium that grew from his neck. The tear in the side of the carriage was big enough for Han Dong’s head to slip through.
Hold it.
Han Dong was waiting for the best opportunity when he would most definitely not be discovered.
*BANG!*
At that instant, the city doors were slammed shut, and the deafening sound made could be heard in every direction.
A head came flying out from the side of the carriage, swiftly crawling its way to a nearby dark alley the moment it landed on the ground.
Han Dong could hear the galloping sound of the carriage continue.
Han Dong revealed a smirk in that dark alley, before continuing his way to search for a suitable body in the city.
