My Chaotic City - Chapter 47
Chapter 47: The Ultimatum
The Red Gremlins and Green Gremlins only had 30 HP, which meant they were on the same level as the Little Black Pigs. As long as the other party had a Basic Arrow Tower, bringing them out to carry out an attack on the city would be a waste even with a thousand gremlin team. It would be even worse if they had a Fire Tower as this meant that no matter how many he sent over, all of them would die.
Even if the Little Drill Gremlin was sent, it would all be in vain. How many attacks could 1100 HP block? At that point, it was just an ordinary Level 11 monster that could run fast.
Furthermore, even if he could carry out a raid, what would he be able to get?
The City Lord was invincible. The gold coins in the Chaotic Treasury were all bound to the player. Would he need to raid the Defensive Tower Shop and the Limitless Tower? Would he be able to get back his money’s worth?
He would need to first consider the costs of conducting a Chaotic City raid, which would require consuming a Void Station and 100 points of Chaotic Energy. Establishing a Void Station required using Gremlin’s Mountain resources and there was also the additional little gremlin’s labor that was required. With all of this, how would he be able to carry out raids that were worth it?
After thinking about it, Li Hanqiang sighed. He no longer felt excited as when he first heard the words ‘Broken Void’ and felt that crossing to other Chaotic Cities for a raid was more inefficient than carrying out a Raid Clone. After all, opening a Raid Clone only cost 10 gold coins. Even if the little gremlins were powerful in the future, didn’t the Raid Clone still have a normal and a difficult level?
However, the ‘Broken Void’ is a mid-level technology so Li Hanqiang decided to consider it more after building a Void Platform in the future.
Although the resources consumed by building a Void Station were not much, it still required 100 little gremlins and Li Hanqiang did not have many free gremlins at that moment.
A moment later, Li Hanqiang went to the Strategic Location in Cave Dwelling. He did not have much Chaotic Energy and was unwilling to recruit more little gremlins. However, when he arrived, he saw the Little Drill Gremlin and his team of gremlins dozing off.
After reviewing his system notification during the time he had been offline, the Little Drill Gremlin had only led the team to carry out one more unsuccessful raid before stopping.
“Is this group of frightened gremlins being lazy? I knew they weren’t reliable with their unpredictable work efficiency. The way they are now definitely fits the bill as they obviously cannot reach any expectations, whether high or low.”
Li Hanqiang kicked the little gremlins one by one to wake them. The Little Drill Gremlin was quick to wake and stood up in a hurry. Without a word, he immediately ran to the raid entrance while ushering the group of little gremlins along.
Li Hanqiang activated his Float Walking, deciding to pay some attention to the little gremlins’ raids. With the Little Drill Gremlin, he was actually looking forward to raiding for some good items from the goblin dwellers. Based on how Game Creator Endless thought, it was certainly a possibility.
Three hours later, Li Hanqiang was full of groceries in front of him. Without paying attention, all the gold coins on him had been ‘robbed’ and he had ended up with a large pile of groceries.
In addition, they had also managed to get five wheelbarrows and three Signboard Flags. Now, everyone in the ten gremlin team had their own chariot.
The Little Drill Gremlin and the group of little gremlins were crowding in a group by the side, acting as if they had won a battle. Naturally, they continued to do somersaults while stacking onto each other in a pile and pushing the wheelbarrows around.
However, the pile of groceries in front of him were just like the Red Carps and Green Carps as they had no practical value at all, all useless items that should be thrown into the store in exchange for gold coins. Despite that, their selling price was still much higher than Red Carps and Green Carps.
Li Hanqiang squatted on the ground as he calculated for a while. With the Little Drill Gremlin leading the team on raids, they could rob groceries and bound gold coins from very simple clones. This meant that entering Raid Clones were no longer as money-wasting as before.
However, luck was also the key as he would still lose money if they encountered clones with a difficulty of simple or above.
Judging from today’s gains, raids were still a money-losing business.
Although the Little Drill Gremlin was at Level 11, the frightened gremlin would even escape Raid Clones of simple difficulty. He theorized that it would not be able to fight against simple difficulty clones without a hundred gremlin team.
Li Hanqiang sighed silently and thought to himself, ‘If you are a week person, you might even lose money in raids.’
Now that there were no more gold coins in hand, Li Hanqiang sighed and dispatched the Little Drill Gremlin and the group of gremlins to the Gremlin Mountain Workshop.
If the pile of groceries in front of him were all resold to the Mysterious Shop, he would be able to get more than 20 gold coins. However, Li Hanqiang did not give a damn about the pile of useless items in front of him. He simply ignored the idea of packing them up as he float walked to the Blue Ripple Pond.
The days were boring again. While idle fishing at the Blue Ripple Pond, Li Hanqiang also calculated subsidies for Big Trader and the others. Deity Robber also sent him another teleport request. Li Hanqiang did not refuse him this time, so Deity Robber returned to the potion dealer’s industry. Of course, every time after he bought the potions, he was ‘returned to the city for free’.
Li Hanqiang actually considered himself to be in a good situation.
The reason why not many players had chosen the job of Chaotic City Lord was because it was far too boring in the early stages of the game. Too much time was spent being idle and the gameplay would only develop to be better in the later stages.
After all, Li Hanqiang still had the Blue Ripple Pond and the Cave Dwelling in Gremlin’s Mountain, which could be used for fishing and raiding. The general Chaotic City Lord could only wait idly to gain gold coins for tower purchases or find a good adventurer player and latch on to them if they could not continue to defend against the monster attacks on the city. They would need to ask adventurer players to defend the city and did not have the same kinds of freedom as them. The adventurer players could explore around, enter clones, kill a BOSS, and other things.
Therefore, the Chaotic City Lord was a lonely profession, as the best men in the world were usually lonely.
Time passed slowly. Around 12 o’clock midnight, Li Hanqiang was busy clearing the day’s harvest from the Blue Ripple Pond. He now had 1.350 gold coins and manage to catch another Small Chaotic Bottle.
Suddenly, a system notification sounded for an anonymous player request to teleport into the city.
Returning to the War Corridor, he saw that the person was Deity Robber. Li Hanqiang could not help but wonder why he was here and asked, “Dog Head Hat, what are you doing here again!”
The Deity Robber smiled and said, “Brother Qiang, I am here to give you an ultimatum!”
“What ultimatum? Is the Emperor’s Rich Guild coming to attack my city?” Li Hanqiang felt a little puzzled.
The Deity Robber sighed and said, “I am only responsible for bringing the words to you. Zhen Deqiang has said that he will be happy if you are upset. He wants to make you absolutely miserable unless you promise to be his obedient follower, or he will break your city and kill you.”
“Zhen Dechun really said that? Is he out of his mind?” Li Hanqiang asked.
Deity Robber shook his head. “He really said that.”
“Haha, when was I, Li Hanqiang, ever afraid?” Li Hanqiang said with an indifferent expression, “Go back and tell him that if he has any tricks to just show them. I will accept them!”
“Fine.”
Deity Robber left immediately, leaving Li Hanqiang only slightly perplexed. In the blink of an eye, he forgot the words of Deity Robber and began to wonder if he should upgrade the Chaos’ Core first? Or would it be better to change a few more towers to complete the BOSS level tenth wave?
At that moment, from Chaos City No. 69, a bright light flashed from the Space-Time Wormhole as Zhen Deqiang slowly came out while riding a big horse.
He held a dark gold token in his hand. It was a Siege Order.
“I can get anything I want.” Zhen Deqiang smiled. He did not expect to get a Siege Order so quickly.
