My Dear Mr. Gu - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: I Got It, Good Boy
“Gu Haoting’s weak point?” inquired Huo Weiwu.
Her impression of Gu Haoting was that he was cold, ruthless, and practically invincible. Everyone knew him as a man without an Achilles’ heel.
“What is it?” asked Huo Weiwu curiously.
Lieutenant Shang quirked the corners of his lips and answered definitively, “I can’t tell you that.”
Huo Weiwu’s face fell. Realizing that she had just been played by Lieutenant Shang, she regarded him with narrowed eyes.
“Do you know how Lieutenant Guo disappeared?” asked Huo Weiwu unhappily.
“I do. However, I’m not like Lieutenant Guo or Auntie Long,” declared Lieutenant Shang confidently.
At the reminder of Auntie Long, Huo Weiwu frowned and asked, “What happened to Auntie Long?”
“I don’t know how you convinced Auntie Long to keep this from the Commander, but he will never allow someone who takes the side of an external party to continue working for him,” said Lieutenant Shang as he kept his eyes on the road before him.
Huo Weiwu’s heart clenched. She grew worried about Auntie Long’s safety–she did not wish for her to be harmed.
She dug out her phone from her purse and gave Gu Haoting a call.
The call went through. The sound of the helicopter could be heard on the other end. It was very noisy.
Huo Weiwu hung up again. She thought, “Since it’s so noisy on his side, he won’t be able to hear whatever I have to say.”
Instead, she started crafting a text message.
“Gu Haoting, I snuck out by myself. Auntie Long didn’t know about that, please don’t punish her,” Huo Weiwu wrote in her text message.
Her phone beeped.
Gu Haoting had responded to her text. The meaning behind his message was plain and clear: “It was wrong for her to be oblivious in the first place.”
Huo Weiwu was starting to feel troubled. Her fingers flew across the screen as she typed, “How would she have detected my disappearance in the first place? Did you ask Auntie Long to watch me? Does whatever I do have to remain under your surveillance? I’m your wife, not your prisoner.”
Gu Haoting read her text message with pensive eyes. He quirked the corners of his lips and replied, “The last sentence is very well written. Auntie Long will merely be going back, she will not be punished. You should remain obedient at home, answer the phone when I call, and obey my instructions. Do you understand that?”
Huo Weiwu paused momentarily when she received Gu Haoting’s text.
She thought, “Does this mean that Gu Haoting has decided to return my freedom to me?
“This is a massive gift, there is no reason for me to reject it.”
“I got it. Good boy,” Huo Weiwu wrote back mockingly.
She could not imagine the look on Gu Haoting’s face when he read this message. She thought, “He will probably be shocked.
“What would Gu Haoting look like when he acts cutely?”
Just thinking about it was hilarious.
Huo Weiwu waited ten minutes, and when there was no reply from Gu Haoting, she figured that he probably did not intend to answer.
She dumped her phone in her purse and slid her butt down the seat, her body slumping. She shut her eyes and muttered lazily, “Let me know when we reach my place.”
Initially, all she had wanted to do was rest for a short while. However, she ended up falling asleep.
Her ringing phone woke her up. Huo Weiwu wiped the corners of her lips and looked outside the window. They had already arrived in the city of Ningchuan. She dug out her phone.
The call was coming from the Huo residence.
Huo Weiwu’s eyelids drooped as she straightened her back and answered the phone.
“Miss, Old Master wants you to make a trip here tonight. Are you free to do that?” asked the maid from the Huo residence.
Huo Weiwu figured it was probably something to do with Huo Chun and instinctively lacked the desire to go back. She replied, “I’m not free, sorry.”
“What about tomorrow night?” asked the maid unyieldingly.
“I’m not free tomorrow either,” Huo Weiwu refused her.
“In that case, Miss, when will you be free? Let your grandfather accommodate your schedule,” responded the maid whose tone was starting to sound sinister.
Huo Weiwu felt helpless. “The day after tomorrow, then.”
“Old Master will await your return at 8 P.M. the day after tomorrow,” the maid said mechanically before hanging up.
Huo Weiwu’s feelings grew heavy as she gazed out the window.
Lieutenant Shang, who was nothing like Lieutenant Guo and Auntie Long, had noticed this.
He would promptly report it to the Commander.
