My Empress is My Bad Girl - Chapter 20
Chapter 20: Felt a Little Warm
The maid was anxious, and Lin Yueniang was even more anxious.
She had been calculating for half a year and had spent a lot of effort and money planning this. She’d even bought these two stupid, useless pots of flowers just so that she could get the Crown Prince to stay the night.
Who knew…
His Highness had actually just walked away like that!
He had walked away!
Lin Yueniang felt as if she could puke blood.
Did His Highness despise her so much?
Lin Yueniang leaned against the doorframe, and tears started to flow down her cheeks.
Her maid tried to console her. “How can this be possible? My Lady is the best- looking woman in the East Palace. Even Consort Chen is not as pretty and charming as you are. How could His Highness not like you?”
“Then…why did he leave?”
“That’s…perhaps it’s because…” The maid stuttered and stammered but couldn’t really get anything out. “Perhaps…His Highness is not feeling well?”
Lin Yueniang’s eyes were teary. “His Highness isn’t feeling unwell at all, he…he obviously just wanted to laugh at me. For his sake, I had eaten an entire plate of…”
When she thought about how she had forced herself to gobble down an entire plate of intestines, Lin Yueniang felt like puking too.
When she thought about what the Crown Prince had said to her, she slammed a palm against the doorframe and said angrily, “Who made this viscera dish? How terribly hateful.”
The maid quickly cut in, “My Lady, this is not the time to investigate this. We’ve been planning for so long. We can’t let our efforts go to waste.”
“He’s already left, so what other way is there?” said Lin Yueniang furiously.
“My Lady, why don’t…why don’t I tell His Highness that you’re ill.” The maid came up with an idea. “If His Highness hears that you’re ill, he’ll definitely come to see you.”
Lin Yueniang’s eyes lit up. “Go and tell him now.”
The maid ran out to look for the Crown Prince immediately.
The Crown Prince hadn’t gone too far, so she managed to catch up with him.
“Your Highness,” the maid was panting heavily as she knelt before him, “My Lady…she’s just fainted.”
Zhao Yuanjing was feeling very annoyed, so he replied coldly after hearing this, “So is Lady Lin of Decorous Service dead or not? If she’s dead, tell Liu Dequan about it, he’ll drag her out and bury her.”
The maid didn’t know how to respond to that.
She watched as the Crown Prince walked away and had no choice but to return with a gloomy expression on her face.
Lin Yueniang was leaning back in the bed while waiting, so when she saw that her maid had returned, she quickly started pretending to be very frail.
The maid said hesitantly, “My Lady…I have been useless…”
Lin Yueniang opened her eyes to look at her and saw that she was all by herself.
“Where’s His Highness?”
“His Highness said that he had something else to attend to.” The maid didn’t dare to repeat what the Crown Prince had really said.
Lin Yueniang angrily pounded her pillow and sat up as she angrily shouted, “Go to the kitchen and bring me the cook who made the viscera dish.”
The maid quickly ran off to do that.
Everyone in the kitchen had already finished eating their dinner and had packed everything away. They were getting ready to sleep.
Yun Dai was about to wash up when she saw a few maids coming toward her aggressively. They grabbed hold of her arms and dragged her back to Cloud Light Court where Lady Lin of Decorous Service was staying.
Yun Dou saw them from afar and smiled at Yun Dai’s impending doom.
Lin Yueniang was scowling as she sat on a chair and glared at Yun Dai. “You were the one who made that plate of viscera today?”
“That is correct,” replied Yun Dai calmly.
“You little b*tch!” Lin Yueniang was furious, so she grabbed a teacup that was next to her hand and splashed the tea on Yun Dai.
Yun Dai was splashed right in the face with the tea and some of it went into her mouth.
She calmly said, “Lady Lin, please do not be angry with me. I prepared the dish because His Highness enjoyed eating it. I actually prepared a slow-cooked mutton dish for Lady Lin.”
This was a dish that Lin Yueniang loved eating.
She took a deep breath as Yun Dai’s words had reminded her of something.
This particular cook was favored by the Crown Prince, so if she dared to punish Yun Dai, then it would be hard to account for her actions to the Crown Prince.
After thinking about it, Lin Yueniang suppressed her fury and said coldly, “Go back. You are not allowed to touch my food from now on.”
“Yes, My Lady,” replied Yun Dai.
“Get out.” Lin Yueniang didn’t dare to offend the Crown Prince in the end.
Yun Dai left unscathed.
The narrow pavements of the East Palace should have been cool and breezy at night, but, for some reason, Yun Dai suddenly felt a little warm.
