My Empress is My Bad Girl - Chapter 21
Chapter 21: It Was a Man
Yun Dai touched her cheeks and realized they were very warm.
What was going on?
She undid her collar a bit, but she still felt very warm.
Was she running a fever?
But she didn’t have any symptoms of a cold.
Her head didn’t hurt, she wasn’t coughing, and her nose wasn’t running.
Yun Dai shook her head. She figured that she was probably just overtired from working hard the whole day.
She started to walk more quickly so that she could get back early and rest, but then she felt her vision slowly becoming more and more blurry.
Yun Dai started to really feel like something was definitely amiss.
She stopped, leaning on a tree, and rubbed her eyes.
However, after resting for a while, she didn’t feel any better at all. In fact, she felt even worse.
She was worried that if this went on, she was going to faint.
She needed to get back and look for Mo Chun or Mi Dou to help her.
As Yun Dai thought of this, she struggled to walk back to the kitchen on the path she remembered.
Luckily, her memory was pretty good. Even though she had only walked this way twice before, she actually managed to find her way back to the kitchen despite her growing dizziness.
She quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
The small kitchen was completely dark since everyone had already gone to rest for the day.
The rules within the palace were very strict about lighting candles. If someone left a lighted candle unattended and the place caught fire, that was a crime punishable by death.
Yun Dai felt very thirsty, so she felt her way to the water tank to get some water.
Just then, she heard footsteps at the door.
Yun Dai turned around. She could make out a tall, slim figure walking toward her.
This person was staggering and stumbling.
Even though Yun Dai’s head was spinning insufferably, she knew enough to realize that none of the kitchen workers looked like this man.
“Water…where’s the water…?” murmured the person as he walked toward her.
This person was also looking for water to drink?
She figured that he must be a servant of the East Palace.
Yun Dai was a little relieved and didn’t bother about him anymore. She scooped up a bowl of water and drank it down in one shot.
She felt a little better after drinking the refreshing water.
But her head was still spinning terribly.
She used the water tank as a support as she slowly sat down on the floor. She knew she needed to rest for a while.
The other person in the small kitchen seemed to be still searching for the water.
Yun Dai spoke up, “The water’s over here.”
The stumbling person froze for a second. Obviously, he hadn’t expected anybody else to be around.
Then, he walked over, grabbed the ladle inside the water, and started drinking.
Yun Dai remained seated on the floor. The faint smell of sandalwood suddenly hit her nostrils.
She felt as if she had smelled this odor somewhere before…
But Yun Dai’s head was all mushy and confused, and she couldn’t recall a thing.
She just felt that the sandalwood smell was coming closer and closer to her, and then it continued to float in the air all around her…
…
Yun Dai was awoken by the sound of a rooster crowing.
It was the rooster that was kept within the small kitchen garden.
Yun Dai opened her bleary eyes when she heard the rooster.
The room was still rather dim.
A faint ray of the morning sun was peeping in through the window.
How did she end up sleeping inside the kitchen?
Yun Dai was puzzled by this. Then she moved her arm and suddenly realized that there was someone else sleeping next to her.
She was terribly alarmed.
Yun Dai looked down and got a terrible shock. Then she quickly looked at the person next to her.
It was a man.
It was a young man with a handsome face.
A luxurious cape covered the floor.
One of the man’s hands was still resting gently on her.
Yun Dai’s thoughts were thrown into confusion.
Last night…
What did she do?
After returning from the Cloud Light Court, her head had felt unbearably giddy, and then she had found some water to drink, but…then she didn’t remember anything that had happened after that.
So, was she the one who had forced herself on this handsome man next to her? Or had this man taken advantage of her because she was defenseless?
This was completely insane!
She was in the East Palace. If anybody saw them like this, she was definitely going to die.
Yun Dai hurriedly got up and quickly straightened out her clothes.
At this time, the man woke up too.
He opened his narrow phoenix-shaped eyes and looked around. His gaze finally landed on Yun Dai.
