Chapter 23 Broken Porcelain Doll
Shen Manting loved the porcelain doll the most. She couldn’t bear to part with it. Manming’s painting was also very cute. However, she didn’t notice that the man beside her was staring at the doll in her hand with a cold look in his eyes.
Xue Chenkong suddenly stood up, snatched the things from her hands, and quickly put them back. “Ah Ting, it’s dark. Let’s rest. I’ll help you pack.”
Before Shen Manting could see the details of the porcelain doll clearly, Xue Chenkong had already put it away. Shen Manting pouted and took her pajamas to wash up in dissatisfaction. But before she left, she didn’t forget to remind him, “Help me put it in the cabinet. Don’t break it.”
“Okay.” As he watched the bathroom door close again, Xue Chenkong’s face turned completely cold. He threw the things directly at the bottom of the closet. With a clang, there was the sound of items hitting each other. “Ah Ting doesn’t need these things. I’ll give her better things!”
Shen Manting heard a sound as soon as she entered the bathroom. She immediately asked, “What’s that sound?”
Xue Chenkong looked at the gift bag on the ground and said calmly, “The display case fell off, so I put it back.”
Shen Manting heaved a sigh of relief. “I thought it was the porcelain doll Manzhou gave me that broke… ” she said.
Xue Chenkong was taken aback. He quickly squatted down to take a look and saw the porcelain doll’s arm shattered! For a moment, he felt a little guilty. He didn’t like Shen Manzhou, but the doll was made to look like Shen Manting! Xue Chenkong’s expression was a little anxious. He quickly hid the porcelain doll, found a drawer that could be locked, and locked all the gifts inside. Then, he threw the key out.
When Shen Manting came out of the bathroom, she couldn’t help asking, “Where did you put my gifts?”
Xue Chenkong turned around and looked at the girl standing behind him. His eyes darkened instantly. Although Shen Manting was still dressed conservatively, the girl who had just come out of the bath looked so delicate under the white light, like an egg without its shell. Xue Chenkong swallowed deeply and pointed to the locked drawer. “I’ve put them inside. ” Then, he quickly took the bathrobe and went to the bathroom.
Shen Manting watched him leave, then looked at the drawer he was pointing at. She couldn’t reach it even if she tiptoed. The man must have done it on purpose! Just as she was about to move the chair, she heard the sound of an engine coming from downstairs. She quickly went to the window sill and took a look. It was Lan Jianqiu and Xue Shangqing.
Shen Manting quickly turned around to change her clothes. She subconsciously said, “Chenkong, your parents are here. ” She momentarily forgot that they were already married and that Xue Chenkong’s parents were now also hers in law.
Xue Chenkong was wearing a bathrobe, and his hair was still dripping with water. He said unhappily, “What are they doing here?” He didn’t like people disturbing his life with Shen Manting at all.
Shen Manting looked at his dark face and was speechless. “They’re your parents. Whatever. I’ll go down first.” After saying that, she went downstairs happily. In fact, she still liked Lan Jianqiu very much, because Lan Jianqiu had three sons, and they were very fond of her.
Xue Chenkong looked at Shen Manting’s happy appearance, and his eyes darkened again. It was fine that he was not as important to her compared to those in the Shen family, but it remained the same even for his family! He took a few quick steps forward and blocked Shen Manting’s path.
Shen Manting could tell that he was upset. She couldn’t help but laugh at the man’s awkwardness and had no choice but to pull him downstairs. When she saw Lan Jianqiu and Xue Shangqing sitting in the living room, Shen Manting immediately smiled and said, “Mr. Xue, Mrs. Xue, you’re here.”
Lan Jianqiu was stunned for a moment before she smiled and said, “You’re still calling us that? It’s time to call us Mom and Dad.”
Shen Manting blushed when she realized what was going on. She turned around and looked at Xue Chenkong, who was behind her, then stammered, “M-Mom, Dad…”
“How obedient! ” Lan Jianqiu was very satisfied with her daughter-in-law. She took off the jade bangle on her wrist that she had worn for decades. “This is a lucky charm from
- “
Shen Manting couldn’t accept it, for she knew that it was Lan Jianqiu’s favorite bangle.
“Just take it. I hope you don’t mind that I’ve worn it before. This bangle has been blessed, and it will bring you good luck. ” Lan Jianqiu said as she put it on Shen Manting.
Shen Manting had no choice but to turn to Xue Chenkong for help.
However, Xue Chenkong patted her head lovingly. “Take it since Mom gave it to you. If you don’t like it, you can keep it away.”
“Who said I don’t like it?” Shen Manting glared at him. How could he say that in front of his mother? What would his mother think?
