My Life Reset Simulator - Chapter 40
Chapter 40 The Teacher Boosts the Student’s Market
At the same time, Xu Yuan, Zhan Long, and Wei Heji all saw the bespectacled man pack the Beside-yourself Rice and Pissing Beef meatballs into his lunchbox. The man then got up and walked toward the door with his bag on his back.
Zhan Long asked in a low voice, “Young master, he packed the food for takeout. Should I stop him?”
Xu Yuan crossed his arms and shook his head, “No. We only stipulate that we won’t deliver takeout, but we didn’t say that the customers can’t pack the food themselves. Besides, takeout will lower the quality of the food, which is why I forbid it. I’m not doing it for any other reason. Don’t stick too rigidly to this rule and offend the customers.”
“Young master is wise!” Zhan Long said respectfully.
Their voices were so soft that only the two of them could hear each other. Wei Heji, who was three steps away, kept staring at the bespectacled man.
He had left a bad impression on Xu Yuan just now because of his comment about the beef meatball’s name. At this moment, he was racking his brain to think of a way to fix his image in Xu Yuan’s heart. As such, when he saw that someone was taking away the food, he immediately felt that his opportunity had presented itself.
He was like a wild cat crouching in the grass that was waiting for the sparrow to rest on the branch above his head. Then, he leaped!
“I’m sorry, sir, but we don’t allow takeout!” He shouted and walked quickly toward the bespectacled man who had just reached the door and was about to leave.
The bespectacled man looked at him inexplicably and asked in a hoarse voice, “What’s wrong?”
Even the police were not allowed to go through someone’s personal belongings without a search warrant. Wei Heji, on the other hand, was like a slave owner who had caught his slave stealing. His motive was to such up to Xu Yuan by implementing the rules that had been set to the end.
Therefore, he exuded a proud and arrogant aura as he said, “I saw it just now! You packed our food in your container that’s in your bag!”
Everyone’s eyes were attracted by the commotion at the door. Zhan Long cursed to himself and nudged Xu Yuan’s shoulder, indicating for him to make a decision quickly.
However, Xu Yuan stayed calm and composed. He simply raised his hand to stop Zhan Long, telling him to calm down.
“I’m sorry,” The bespectacled man smiled and said, “I’m a teacher at Twiser High School. I had especially taken half a day to have the Beside-yourself Rice, but my class is about to start now and my students are waiting for me. That’s why I packed the food for takeout. I’m really sorry, please allow me to do this just this once.”
V
“No!” Wei Heji said, “Rules are rules! Either you eat the food here or you leave the food here. I’ll refund you the money!”
His words were really shocking, and the other customers were all stunned.
How was this a restaurant? Even a screw factory’s cafeteria would be more generous than this. Having paid, customers were free to eat wherever they wanted. Since when was it the restaurant’s right to point fingers?
The customers who were already dissatisfied with the rules became even more displeased. They frowned as they looked at Wei Heji and the bespectacled teacher. The legs of some customers were moving under the table, each of them ready to go forward and help the bespectacled teacher out.
The bespectacled teacher said awkwardly, “I’m sorry, I’m really running late. If I return the food, it’ll be too late for me to go to another restaurant!”
“Rules are rules. I’m sorry,” Wei Heji said firmly.
The customers’ anger was ignited by Wei Heji’s arrogant manner. A male customer muttered, “It’s just a bowl of rice. What’s the big deal?”
He couldn’t stand it anymore and was about to get up when Xu Yuan, who was standing at the counter unnoticed, suddenly walked over and grabbed Wei Heji’s shoulder.
“Uncle Wei, what are you doing? If you delay the teacher here, are you going to teach his students?”
“Huh?” Wei Heji turned around in surprise, “But young master, the rules…”
“The rules are dead but the people are alive. Besides, this teacher did not violate the hotel’s principles!” After saying that, Xu Yuan pushed Wei Heji aside and said politely to the bespectacled teacher, “Sir, I’m very sorry, our shop assistant has caused you trouble.”
He waved his hand, and Zhan Long handed him a bottle of premium pure fruit juice as if he had prepared it beforehand.
“Please, if you don’t mind, accept this drink. I won’t keep you if you’re short on time. Next time, I’ll give you a special discount to express our apologies,” Xu Yuan bowed deeply. Then he watched as the bespectacled teacher thanked him gratefully before turning around and leaving.
After that, Xu Yuan turned to face the customers who were eating and bowed deeply, “I’m sorry to have disturbed everyone’s meal. We don’t deliver takeout because we’re worried about the quality of the dishes, no other reason. I would like to apologize for the inconvenience this has caused everyone.”
The customers in the shop were very satisfied with Xu Yuan’s way of handling the matter. As they gave Xu Yuan a thumbs up, they looked at Wei Heji with disdain. The latter was so ashamed that he wished he could find a hole to hide in.
Wei Heji’s anger filled his chest as he walked to the counter with his head lowered and sat down. As the hotel manager, he had dealt with countless customer disputes before. This time, he knew that he had been too eager to flatter Xu Yuan, reaching the opposite effect.
Even so, he was still dissatisfied with the fact that Xu Yuan had used him as a stepping stone and devalued him to improve the image of the restaurant. Wasn’t this the same as what he had done to the other waiters in the past?
In his heart, Wei Heji was extremely unconvinced of Xu Yuan as his young master. He hid in the corner and glared at Xu Yuan with resentment.
On the other side, the bespectacled teacher jogged all the way back to school. Finally, he managed to enter the classroom of grade one class three just as the bell rang. He leaned against the teacher’s podium and panted heavily.
In the last row, a tall boy stood up and joked mischievously, “Teacher Zhan, has the principal finally punished you to run laps?”
“What nonsense!” Teacher Zhan scolded jokingly, “Kong Yulong, have you memorized the text? Spot check in five minutes!”
The classroom was instantly filled with sounds of wails, followed by the sound of flipping books. The students were making a frantic last-minute effort to memorize as many sentences as they could. The noisy sounds of reading were incessant.
Kong Yulong sat down obediently and raised the textbook to hide himself, trying to reduce his height to avoid being picked to memorize the text by the teacher later.
Teacher Zhan took some time to catch his breath, and his stomach began to growl. Fortunately, the students were reading loudly enough, so no one could hear the sound except for himself.
The lunchbox in his bag had opened a little because of his running. As such, the faint fragrance of the roasted pork mixed with the fresh smell of the beef wafted out.
Teacher Zhan hadn’t had breakfast because he was in a hurry. Yesterday, he had seen Peng Chun and Guang Ni brag about the Royal Court Banquest Restaurant’s roasted pork in the group chat, so he had somehow managed to squeeze in some time today to go get a portion for himself.
Now that the fragrance was drifting in the air, he simply couldn’t bear it anymore!
Teacher Zhan opened his textbook and made it stand. Then, he glanced at the students guiltily. After finding that all of them were very serious and quite absorbed in memorizing the text, he squatted and used the book to block himself. He then opened the lunchbox quietly and took a bite of the roasted pork.
The fresh, tender, and warm juice ran around in his mouth. It was so delicious Teacher Zhan felt that his tongue was about to fall out.
He didn’t have time to savor it carefully. He took two bites in a row, chewed hastily, and swallowed, blocking the words of praise that were about to rush out of his mouth.
The fragrance wafted in the air and swam into the noses of the students. The sounds of reading gradually weakened and slowly turned into the sounds of inhaling.
“Wow, what is this smell? I have never smelled anything so fragrant!”
“Has the cafeteria employed a new chef? They’re starting to cook so early?”
Kong Yulong, who was in the last row, raised his head from behind his book. He saw that his classmates were not in the mood to study, yet Teacher Zhan did not say anything.
He nudged his deskmate’s elbow and said, “This smell is so fragrant. It seems to be coming from the podium!”
